MIDLAND - Eric Winston caught a 9-yard pass in the fourth quarter to push the Midland Lee Rebels past rival Odessa Permian 17-16 during a back-and-forth battle Friday night.

Besides throwing the winning touchdown, quarterback Cole Sampson completed 6 of 11 passes for 137 yards and no interceptions.

Permian back David Durrell led the Panthers with 125 yards rushing.
Midland Lee managed to win despite being outgained 388 to 247 by the Rebels in total offense. Lee's defense managed to make up for the deficiency, however, when Ashley Jackson returned a fumble 46 yards for a touchdown in the third.

The score and following 2-point conversion would put his team on top of Permian 11-10 going into the final period.
