Thursday, August 20, 1998 Big Country Business Digest GORMAN - The Crossroads Treatment Center is due to open Sept.
15 in the former Blackwell Hospital building. The hospital closed
in 1986. The center will be a residential program for boys ages 11-17
with alcohol and drug dependency problems, providing a highly
structured and individualized program. The length of stay in the center is expected to be 6-9 months.
The facility will house up to 32 boys, with three house parents
living at the center. Director Jerry Gaiter will bring some staff from other Crossroads
centers in Texas and will also be hiring 30-40 local people. Applications
will be accepted beginning Friday by calling (254) 734-2363. New EDC director MERKEL - Connie Mack Seymore, owner of Seymore Insurance Agency,
has been named a new director of the Merkel Economic Development
Corp. He replaces Jackie Minze, who resigned due to time conflicts. Minze had served on the board since it was formed in 1995.
