Tuesday, September 29, 1998 Chamber banquet a sellout By Doug Williamson / Business Editor The annual banquet of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce is a
sellout. Even after officials moved it from the conference wing to the
exhibit hall at the Abilene Civic Center, people still gobbled
up the tickets for the Thursday event. Lesli Andrews of the chamber said 1,325 tickets have been sold.
She is encouraging chamber members who bought tickets but cannot
attend to contact her. She will try to resell them. Texas Conservation Recovery Act If your company generates industrial or hazardous waste, you
might plan to attend a special workshop on Oct. 6. The Small Business Development Center is having the session
to help businesses be sure they are in compliance with the Texas
Conservation Recovery Act and Texas Natural Resources Conservation
Commission regulations. Topics will include record-keeping requirements and obligations. Cost is $49 for those who preregister and $59 on the day of

625-4976. Is Internet marketing for you? A daylong workshop on Internet marketing will be held on Oct.
8. "Is Internet Marketing for You?" will help small
businesses understand the Internet and how it can impact their
business. Burton Anderson of the Electronic Commerce Resource Center
will lead the workshop. Topics to be covered include: -- Basic Internet concepts. -- Web usage demographics and statistics. -- Commercial structure of the web and implications for small
business. -- How to advertise and market on the World Wide Web to reach
new customers, better serve existing customers and expand business
activities. -- How to handle orders, collect payments, deliver goods and
provide follow-up with customers. -- World examples of businesses that use the WWW to accomplish
these objectives and improve profitability. The cost is $30 and advance registration is required due to
limited seating. The seminar will be at the Small Business Development
