Certifications
Five employees of Day Nursery of Abilene have received their
Child Development Associate credentials from the Council for Early
Childhood Professional Recognition. They are Janice Gobin, Mona
Lara, Heather Evans, Gwen Chenier and Lora Smith. ---
Leroy Bolt, a partner in Condley and Co. LLP of Abilene, has
been awarded the Accredited in Business Valuation designation
from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. To
receive the designation, Bolt provided evidence of substantial
experience in business valuation and passed a written examination
that covered professional and regulatory standards, valuation
methods and report writing.
Honors
Buddy Parish, manager of Clayton Homes in Abilene, has been
honored for $1.5 million in sales. He was presented a plaque during
the annual CMH Homes awards banquet in Waco.

Linda Sullivan has been named sales person of the year at Allied
Staffing Group. She sold more than $4.1 million in payroll to
clients locally and across three states. She also was last year"s
winner.

Capt. Flynn Advertising of Abilene has been named a multiple
national finalist in The Vision Awards, recognizing the best local
and regional television commericials and video presentations.
A video presentation, created by the firm for Wonder Works,
was written and directed by Tom Rigsby. The presentation dealt
with "Ceratopsians," a museum exhibit.
A TV commercial produced by the firm for Bogie"s Delis
was a national finalist in the food products category. ---
Paul Beale, senior communications consultant for GST Action
Telcom, has been honored as one of GST"s top salesmen for
the year. He has been with the company for seven years.
Retirements
James Cheek, water distribution and sewage collection superintendent
for the City of Abilene, has retired after 37 years of employment.
He began as a laborer.
During his career, he worked round-the-clock and in all kinds
of weather to maintain and manage the water and sewer systems.

AUSTIN -- Don Shahan, a 23-year employee of Central and South
West Corp., has retired to his family ranch near Abilene.
The Abilene native and 1968 Cooper High School graduate had
most recently served as president of CSW Communications.
He joined West Texas Utilities, a subsidiary of CSW, in 1975
as a management assistant.
Employment
Denise Beck has been named air traffic control manager at Abilene
Regional Airport, effective March 2. She is a former Midland and
Lubbock air traffic controller and air traffic supervisor in Amarillo.
Most recently, the South Dakota native, was air traffic manager
in Sioux City, Iowa.

Robert Askins, a longtime Abilene title attorney, has joined
Alliance Title and Abstract Co. as executive director of title
and abstract operations. Alliance Title, owned by Woods Business
Enterprises, is now located at 2700 Shepherd.

Phillip R. James has been hired as a trust officer in the oil
and gas division of First National Bank of Abilene, President
Scott Dueser announced. James, a 1985 graduate of Hardin-Simmons
University, formerly has been an geologist, in revenue officer
aide with the Internal Revenue Service and a supervision officer
with Taylor County.
He will be assisting in the management of the banks oil and
gas trusts, including property and mineral records, lease negotiations
and preparation and oil and gas property inspections.

Cary Meeks has been elected as a director of Eastland National
Bank, President Ron Butler announced.
Meeks is president of Victor Cornelius Inc.
