Wednesday, October 21, 1998 Eastland auction sale pushes Cattlemen's Round-Up
past $220,000 mark By J.T. SMITH Farm Editor EASTLAND - The 1998 Cattlemen's Round-Up for Rehab got a big
boost in the fall series with the special sale at Eastland Livestock
Auction Tuesday. The Eastland sale raised $10,250 to support the work of the
West Texas Rehabilitation Center and operations from its Abilene,
San Angelo and Ozona campuses. That moved the grand total of the annual Cattlemen's Round-Up
to $220,885 to date. A baby pig donated by Amanda Castillo of Eastland was auctioned
nine times here Tuesday for a collective total of $940. Big-hearted
cattlemen and Rehab supporters pitched in to buy and then redonate
the pig to sell again and again. Also among novelty items, a little, red wagon fetched $550. WTRC officials expressed special gratitude to auction owners
David and LaQuetta Coan and all the Eastland Livestock Auction
staff, along with the buyers and donors. The final fall Round-Up sale will come during a break in the
regular auction at Junction on Monday.
