Cowboys re-sign kicker Cunningham

IRVING (AP) -- The Dallas Cowboys re-signed free agent kicker Richie Cunningham, the team announced Monday.

Terms of the one-year deal haven't been released.

Cunningham finished the 1997 season second in the NFL in field goal accuracy, hitting nearly 92 percent of his attempts. He made 34 of 37.

Veterans mini-camp under way

Dallas has begun its second three-day mini-camp with veterans only being allowed to participate.

The first mini-camp ended almost two weeks ago with rookies being introduced to much of Chan Gailey's new offense.

Supposedly, more of the offense will be unveiled this week, and the veterans will also practice with the shotgun formation and four-wide-receiver plays, much like the rookies did.

The veterans will hold two-a-days through Thursday at the Valley Ranch practice facility.
