Camp Notes: Wendell Davis injured
By The Associated Press
WICHITA FALLS (AP) ---- The Dallas Cowboys suffered their
first training camp injury late Saturday when defensive back
Wendell Davis went down during a passing drill.
Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones said "Wendell injured
the same knee (right) he did last year. We'll just have to wait
and see how serious it is."
Davis underwent arthroscopic surgery in January for a tear
suffered in a Dec. 22 game against Washington.

Deion still styling
Deion Sanders still hasn't participated in drills because
of surgery on his left ankle, but has a fancy way to get around.
He has brought to training camp at Midwestern State University
the $35,000 golf cart he bought last year, when the summer drills
were in Austin.
Deion has dropped one of the options on his expensive transportation
mode. He no longer has a "mister" on the vehicle to
help against the 100-degree heat.

Lots of Coverage
There were 21 mini-cams at practices and news conferences
for the first few days of practices even though the Cowboys were
a 6-10 team last season.
The Wichita Falls Times Record had 12 staffers on the job
at various points, including four photographers and eight reporters.

Dennis Rodman Look Alike?
What's this, a Dennis Rodman look alike in camp?
Wide receiver Billy Davis has dyed his hair blonde and has
heard a few catcalls from fans and taking some kidding from teammates.
"Just trying to be a little different, trying to get
noticed," laughed Davis, who is in a battle for the second
receiver position.
----------
Free Practice
The Cowboys will hold a night practice at Memorial Stadium
on Sunday night, Aug. 2 that will be free to the public.
Some 7,500 seats will be available, with half the stadium
reserved for personnel from nearby Sheppard Air Force Base.
The Cowboys open the preseason at Texas Stadium on July 31.

Shula Visits
Former Miami coach Don Shula and a group hoping to get the
new Cleveland Browns franchise visited training camp to seek
advice from owner Jerry Jones.
The group met for two hours with Jones and Shula termed the
visit "very helpful."
Shula, who spent 33 years as a head coach, said he wouldn't
try it again.
"I don't intend to get back into coaching," he said.
