Smith, Warren may not play Monday night
WICHITA FALLS (AP) -- A bruised thigh may keep Emmitt Smith
sidelined in Monday night's preseason game against the New England
Patriots.
"It's nothing serious and we may wait right until warmups
Monday night to make a final decision."
Backup running back Chris Warren has been on the injury list
with a strained groin muscle.
Get that man in a jersey
A Cowboys intern perched atop a tower behind the field goal
posts casually reached over and caught a ball while filming the
team practice.
The crowd erupted in cheers.
They weren't the only ones who were impressed.
"I heard about that...that was a good catch," coach
Gailey said after practice.
Davis's time to shine
Wide receiver Billy Davis had a great practice Saturday, making
numerous long catches and juking the defense after grabbing the
ball.
Davis is considered one of the favorites to take a secondary
receiving position behind Michael Irvin. He will start in Monday's
scrimmage against the Patriots.
His catches earned him a pat on the helmet from Irvin.
Cowboys look sharp
If the last practice of training camp was an indicator of
how well the Cowboys have adopted coach Gailey's offense, then
the team may be finally running on all cylinders.
Several Cowboys seemed to make big plays, including Michael
Irvin, Emmitt Smith and Michael Myers.
"Knowing the road is only 15 or 20 minutes away and to
come out here and have a good practice. It's a credit to them,"
Gailey said.
