Raiders and Cowboys to scrimmage in El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (AP) - The Oakland Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys will scrimmage on Thursday night, Aug. 6, in the 52,000-seat Sun Bowl.

The Cowboys drew 43,000 last year when they scrimmaged the San Diego Chargers. Dallas and Houston drew 51,118 fans in 1996.

"The Raiders have been a visible part of our training camp for several years now," said Dallas owner Jerry Jones. "The opportunity to face them in a scrimmage provides our team with a decent test at an important part of our camp."

The Cowboys will train in Wichita Falls this year beginning in mid-July.

The scrimmage will start at 7:30 p.m. after a 30-minute performance by the Cowboys cheerleaders.
