Saints and Cowboys to scrimmage in Shreveport
NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys
plan a preseason practice and scrimmage Aug. 11 in Shreveport,
La., Saints officials said.
"The idea for this came from a phone call from (Cowboys
owner) Jerry Jones to (Saints owner) Tom Benson about holding
something in Shreveport," said Saints general manager Bill
Kuharich. "In north Louisiana we have a solid base of fans,
as do they."
The work will probably begin at 7 or 7:30 p.m. and an admission
will be charged.
The Cowboys workout increases an already busy training camp
schedule for the Saints during the first two weeks of August.
New Orleans will host the Chicago Bears for four practices
and a practice-scrimmage session at La Crosse, Wis. on July 30-31
and Aug. 1. They will practice twice against the Minnesota Vikings
in Mankato, Minn., on Aug. 4 and open exhibition play Aug. 8
against the Packers in Green Bay, Wis.
