Cowboys rehire Brad Sham

DALLAS (AP) - Brad Sham, the Dallas Cowboys' popular play-by-play announcer for 19 years until the 1994 season, is returning to the team's broadcasts.

Sham signed a one-year contract to replace Dave Garrett as the Cowboys' top broadcaster and will team with on-air analyst Babe Laufenberg.

The team also decided to go with a two-announcer broadcast and chose not to re-sign Mike Doocy.

After the Cowboys chose not to re-sign him after the 1994 season, Sham spent three years on Texas Rangers broadcasts. He also did some NFL games for CBS Radio.

For many Cowboys fans, Sham's return is a welcome homecoming.

"It feels very good, and I think the thing that makes it especially good is the fact that people feel that way," Sham said.
