NEW YORK -- New Year's Eve parties include:
-- MTV reviews the top 100 music videos of 1998 on "Total Live by Request" beginning at 12:30 p.m.
-- Bette Midler, Whitney Houston, Garth Brooks, Mariah Carey and Shania Twain are among the performers on "Billboard's Musical New Year's Eve Live" (10 p.m., Fox, TV-PG).
-- Backstreet Boys, Monica, and Barenaked Ladies are scheduled to perform on "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve '99" (10:35 p.m., ABC). D.L. Hughley and Elise Neal of "The Hughleys" preside over the festivities from Las Vegas.
-- Gospel music stars Jake Hess, Jessy Dixon, The Martins, Carman and Kathy Troccoli are featured on "New Year's Eve Live with Bill Gaither" (10 p.m., TNN).
-- Jennifer Love Hewitt and Carson Daly host "MTV's New Year's Eve Live" from New York's Time Square beginning at 10 p.m. Aaliyah, Green Day, Limp Bizkit and Method Man are scheduled to perform.
-- Jay Leno's guests include singer Tom Jones, comic Carrot Top and the cast of "Bring in da Noise, Bring in da Funk" on a live telecast of "The Tonight Show" (10:35 p.m., NBC). Jay's wife, Mavis, joins him in a toast to the new year.
