Mary Dean Payne
Mary Dean Payne, 71, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Revs.
Jerry McNeil and Ronnie Newton officiating. Burial will be in
Potosi Cemetery.
Mrs. Payne was born in Bronte, where she graduated from high
school, and moved to Abilene in 1945. She attended Hardin-Simmons
and Texas Tech universities and was an assembly line worker for
Timex for eight years. She was a volunteer at Food Bank of Abilene.
She was a member of Good Sam's Club and First Evangelical Methodist
Church and was the widow of Johnnie Payne, whom she married in
1954 in Tatum, N.M.
Survivors include one son, Samuel Jay Payne of Abilene; and
many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to West Texas Rehabilitation Center,
4601 Hartford, Abilene 79605.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Martha Wise
Martha B. Wise, 84, died Sunday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Abundant Life Apostolic
Ministries with the Revs. Larry Baird and Joe Cosby officiating.
Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery, directed by Allen-Korzenewski
Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.
Mrs. Wise was born in Williamson County and lived in Abilene
for many years. She worked as a foster grandparent at the Abilene
State School and was a member of Abundant Life Apostolic Ministries.
Survivors include one son, J.L. "Buddy" Wise of Abilene;
six daughters, Martha Lee Wood of Odessa, Jessie Helen Gore of
Wichita Falls, Ruby Francis Caffey of Cisco, Katherine Laverne
"Katie" Schmidt of Florida, Barbara Rosa Lee Allen of
Potosi and Esther Mae Gilbert of Abilene; one sister, Annie Lou
Hardin of Pilot Point; 31 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren;
and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Mary Elizabeth 'Beth' Marshall
Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Marshall, 86, died Tuesday
in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home
Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. John Lee officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Marshall was born in Jones County and lived in Abilene
for many years. She attended Abilene High School and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Fairmont United Methodist Church and was the
widow of Thomas Roy Marshall, whom she married in 1935 in Abilene.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Marshall of Abilene; one brother,
B.A. Young Jr. of Tahoka; two sisters, Rowena Collins and Lucile
Baker, both of Abilene; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Danny Wigfall
Danny J. Wigfall, 39, died Monday in a Big Spring hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in New Light Baptist Church
with Dr. Leo F. Scott officiating. Burial will be in City Cemetery,
directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Wigfall was born in Abilene and attended Cooper High School.
He was in the U.S. Army for 12 years and married LaWanda Smith
in 1979 in Abilene. He worked as a manager for Circle K Convenience
stores and was a member of New Light Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; three sons, Milo Keith
Wigfall and Terrell LaMonte Wigfall, both of Abilene, and Andy
Christian Wigfall of Germany; his parents, John and Dorothy Wigfall
of Abilene; one brother, Jimmy Bernard Edmond of Abilene; four
sisters, Brenda Smith, Janet Wigfall, Shelia Doolittle and Sherrie
Curry, all of Abilene; his maternal grandfather, Lee Edmond of
Abilene; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Sandra Hasty
CENTER POINT -- Sandra A. Hasty, 41, formerly of Abilene, died
Monday in a San Antonio hospital.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Kerrville
Church of Christ with Dean Fitch officiating, directed by Overby
Funeral Home of Kerrville.
Mrs. Hasty was born in Mountain Home, Idaho, and married Roy
C. Hasty in 1978 in Abilene. She moved to Kerrville in 1993 and
Center Point in 1995.
Survivors include her husband, of Center Point; two sons, Chad
Hasty of Kerrville and Roy Hasty III of Center Point; two daughters,
Darcy Hasty and Jenny Hasty, both of Center Point; her parents,
JoAnne Coffman and Lindel Coffman, both of Escondido, Calif.;
two sisters, Brenda Bonine of Kerrville and Melinda Terry of Mesquite;
and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.
Dr. Chad Winsor
FORT WORTH -- Dr. Chad Winsor, 47, formerly of Abilene, died
Monday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Christ Chapel Bible Church.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, directed by Greenwood
Funeral Home.
Dr. Winsor was born in Hutchinson, Kan., and graduated from
Hardin-Simmons University in 1972. He earned both his master's
degree and doctorate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He then worked with Young Life in Waco and Austin. He was employed
by Southland Corp. since 1989. He also was an associate pastor
of Christ Chapel Bible Church in Fort Worth for the past nine
years.
Survivors include his wife, Juancile Winsor of Fort Worth;
one son, Cory Winsor of Fort Worth; one daughter, Kasey Winsor
of Fort Worth; his mother, Juanita Winsor of Topeka, Kan.; one
sister, Maralee Self of Nashville, Tenn.; and one niece and one
nephew.
Memorials may be sent to Christ Chapel Bible Church Children's
Building Fund.
Carl Ed Odom
COLEMAN -- Carl Ed Odom, 71, lifelong local resident, died
Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Walker Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. David Jenkins officiating. Burial will be
in Grosvenor Cemetery.
Mr. Odom was born in Coleman and served with the U.S. Army
Infantry during World War II. He married Betty Williams in 1949
in Abilene and was self-employed with Glasson Transfer and Store,
and a Goodyear store. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Coleman; one daughter, Rickey
Salyer of Coleman; one son, Eddie Odom of Llano; one sister, Evelyn
Dunn of Abilene; three grandchildren; one niece; and two great-nieces
and one great-nephew.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Santiago Flores Sr.
ANSON -- Santiago P. Flores Sr., 77, died Monday in an Abilene
hospital.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in St. Michael Catholic
Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church with the
Rev. Oscar Del Rio officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery,
directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.
Mr. Flores was born in Corpus Christi and lived in Anson most
of his life. He was a farmer. He was a Catholic and was the widower
of Rosa Lozano Flores, whom he married in Anson.
Survivors include four sons, John Flores of Abilene, and Santiago
Flores Jr., Modesto Flores and Domingo Flores, all of Anson; two
daughters, Rita Jimenez of Anson and Rosita Lara of Hamby; 21
grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
The body will be at the church.
M.E. 'Ed' Adams
COLORADO CITY -- M.E. "Ed" Adams, 76, of China Grove,
died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Kiker-Seale Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Dan Crawford officiating. Burial will be
in Colorado City Cemetery.
Mr. Adams was born in Denton County and moved to China Grove
in 1933. He married Dorothy Walker in 1941 in Colorado City and
was a farmer. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of China Grove; two sons, Billy
Wayne Adams of Abilene and Edward Adams Jr. of Grapevine; four
daughters, Betty Sue Miller of Abilene, Jo Ann Clark and Virginia
Adams, both of Snyder, and Sharon Myers of Colorado City; two
brothers, J.W. Adams of Clute and Lester Adams of Big Spring;
12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
William Edward Mayes
STAMFORD -- William Edward Mayes, 81, died Monday in a local
hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Central Presbyterian
Church with Dr. Paul McGlasson officiating. Burial will be in
Highland Memorial Cemetery, directed by Kinney Funeral Home.
Mr. Mayes graduated from East Texas State Teachers College
and Texas Christian University. He married Billie Lou Martin in
1942 in Graham and served with the U.S. Navy during World War
II. He moved to Stamford in 1947 from Graham and became the school
band director. He also was a choir director and junior high school
principal. He retired in 1982 after 42 years as an educator. He
was a director of the Stamford Art Show and Cowboy Museum, and
was a life member of the Texas Cowboy Reunion Old Timers Association
and Stamford Exchange Club. He was an elder at Central Presbyterian
Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Stamford; one daughter, Martha
Hughes of De Soto; one sister, Nita Callaway of Dallas; two grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.
Helen Williamson
COLORADO CITY -- Helen B. Williamson, 80, lifelong Mitchell
County resident, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Loraine Cemetery
with the Rev. Kay Reed officiating, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Williamson was born in Loraine, where she married Ira
Williamson in 1951, and was a homemaker. She was a member of First
United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Colorado City; one son, John
Williamson of Colorado City; one daughter, Sandra Riordan of Alamogordo,
N.M.; one sister, Margaret Griffith of San Angelo; five grandchildren;
one great-grandchild; and one niece.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Bishop 'Cotton' Stanford
BROWNWOOD -- Bishop "Cotton" Stanford, 91, died Tuesday
in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Heartland Funeral Home
Chapel in Early with Dr. Steve McMeans officiating. Burial will
be in Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early.
Mr. Stanford married Etta Jane Flemmons in 1925 in Altman and
worked for Santa Fe Railroad. He was a member of Coggin Avenue
Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; three grandchildren;
and many nephews and nieces.
Maxine Stein
SWEETWATER -- Maxine Stein, 65, co-owner and bookkeeper of
KXOX Radio, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church
with the Rev. Allen Guthrie officiating. Burial will be in Garden
of Memories, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stein was born in Cornelia, Ga., and married Jack Stein
in 1952 in Marshall. She moved to Sweetwater in 1956 and was a
past president of Sweetwater Jaycee-etts. She was a member of
First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Sweetwater; one daughter,
Jan Dickinson of Sweetwater; one son, Jeffery Brent Stein of Sweetwater;
one sister, Janelle Skinner of Cornelia, Ga.; two brothers, Kenneth
Woodall and Danny Woodall, both of Cornelia, Ga.; and two grandchildren.
Kenneth Ray Ellett
WESTBROOK -- Kenneth Ray Ellett, 58, lifelong Mitchell County
resident, died Monday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Westbrook
Cemetery with Sonny Hollis officiating, directed by Kiker-Seale
Funeral Home of Colorado City.
Mr. Ellett was born in Mitchell County and married Rita Young
in 1961 in Jourdanton. He worked as a pumper for UNICAL and was
a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of San Antonio; one son, Vance
Ellett of Westbrook; one daughter, Grace Ann Ellett of New York;
his mother, Viola Ellett of Westbrook; and two grandchildren.
Beulah Barnett
BALLINGER -- Beulah Barnett, 83, of Fort Worth and formerly
of Ballinger, died Tuesday in a Colleyville nursing home. Services

ASPERMONT -- Ada Jean Harris, 61, died Tuesday in a local hospital.

ELDORADO -- Paul Milton Chrisman, 84, father of an Abilene
resident, died Sunday in a local nursing home. Graveside services
