Darlene Ruth Marlar
Darlene Ruth Marlar, 63, died Thursday at her home after a
lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. Mark
Hewitt officiating. Burial will be in Elliott-Hamil Garden of
Memories.
Mrs. Marlar was born in Green Bay, Wis., and graduated from
Pampa High School. She married Don B. Marlar in 1952 in Clovis,
N.M., and was a homemaker. She moved to Abilene 5-1/2 years ago
from Snyder.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; three sons, Larry
Marlar of Abilene, David Marlar of Charlotte, N.C., and Scott
Marlar of San Angelo; and six grandchildren.
Jimmie McGuyer
FORT SUMNER, N.M. -- Jimmie B. McGuyer, 79, mother of two Abilene
residents, died Wednesday in a Midland hospital after a sudden
illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Fort Sumner Church of
Christ with Skip Clark and Jerry Palmer officiating. Burial will
be in Fort Sumner Cemetery, directed by Chavez Funeral Home.
Mrs. McGuyer was born in Hollis, Okla., where she attended
school, and lived in Sudan and St. Vrain, N.M., before moving
to Fort Sumner in 1944. She was a member of the Church of Christ
and was the widow of Murray McGuyer, whom she married in 1934
in Muleshoe.
Survivors include four daughters, Roxie June Gray of Midland,
Patricia Louise Gentry of Lake Arthur, N.M., and Dixie Lea Mabry
and Deborah Lynn Strickland, both of Abilene; one son, Tony Jack
McGuyer of Hesperia, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren;
three great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

and Ave. D, Fort Sumner, N.M. 88119.
Debbie Mae Alston
AVOCA -- Debbie Mae Alston, 84, died Wednesday in a Stamford
hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Avoca Baptist Church with
the Revs. Joel Rister and Terry Davis officiating. Burial will
be in Spring Creek Cemetery, directed by Kinney Funeral Home of
Stamford.
Mrs. Alston was born in Denton and lived in Jones County for
many years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Avoca Baptist
Church and was the widow of Astor Alston, whom she married in
1931 in Haskell.
Survivors include two sons, Bob Alston of Stamford and Marlin
Alston of Ruidoso, N.M.; three daughters, Betty Worthington of
Hawley, Pat McLean of Birmingham, Ala., and Debra Fanning of Anson;
five sisters, Velma Ivy and Louise Townsend, both of Avoca, Joann
Whitley of Stamford, Gladys Ray of Sacramento, Calif., and Ruby
Jo Davis of Andrews; 22 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

Eula Leatha Nabers
BLACKWELL -- Eula Leatha Nabers, 92, of Kerrville and formerly
of Blackwell, died Thursday in a Kerrville care center.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Blackwell Baptist Church
with the Revs. Kenneth Jones and Jackie Guest officiating. Burial
will be in Blackwell Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home
of Sweetwater.
Mrs. Nabers was born in Flow in Leon County and moved to Blackwell
in 1916. She was the last surviving member of the 1925 graduating
class at Blackwell High School and was a retired telephone operator
in Blackwell. She was a rancher and moved to Kerrville in 1994.
She was a member of Hilton chapter, Order of the Eastern Star;
Rebekah-Oddfellows Lodge; Nolan County Library board; and Women's
Missionary Union. She taught Sunday school at Blackwell Baptist
Church and was the widow of Robert Dewey Nabers, whom she married
in 1929 in Blackwell.
Survivors include one daughter, Helen Fay Brown of Kerrville;
one son, Robert Dewey Nabers Jr. of Blackwell; two sisters, Evelyn
Reaves of Levelland and Rena Beam of San Angelo; three brothers,
Joe Oden of Littlefield, John Oden of Illinois and T.J. Oden of
Blackwell; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to West Texas Rehabilitation Center,
4601 Hartford, Abilene 79605; American Cancer Society; or Family
Hospice, 420 Water St., Kerrville 78028.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today in the funeral home.

ALBANY -- Rosa Lee Barrett, 81, died Friday in Stamford.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Albany First Baptist Church
with the Revs. John Tunnell and Don Clevenger officiating. Burial
will be in Albany Cemetery, directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Barrett was born in Decatur and married C.O. "Slim"
Barrett Sr. in 1934 in Graham. She was a homemaker and was a member
of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of Albany; five daughters, Billie
Etheridge of Pampa, Shirley Fritz of Snyder, Gracie Barker of
Tavares, Fla., Judy Patterson of Stamford and Betty Balliew of
Albany; one son, Charles Barrett Jr. of Odessa; one brother, Retired
Brig. Gen. R.O. Petty of Bassett, Va.; five sisters, Virginia
Cutshall and Bessie Petty, both of Graham, Gracie Hodges of Post,
Lou McMakin of Lubbock and Jo Beth Townsend of Farmers Branch;
16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
