Frances McCoy
Frances (Mrs. Eugene) McCoy, 74, died Friday in an Abilene
nursing home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home
Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Dr. Don Greenway and the
Rev. Bill Hillier officiating. Burial will be in Midway Cemetery
in Jones County.
Mrs. McCoy was born in Trent and attended school in Blair in
Taylor County and Warren in Jones County. She married Melvin Eugene
McCoy in Abilene in 1940 and was a homemaker. She moved to Abilene
in 1954 from Hodges. She was a member of the Cora Posey Chapter
of Order of the Eastern Star for 53 years and North Side Baptist
Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; one daughter, Patsy
Elaine Ratliff of Abilene; one brother, J.R. Baker of Merkel;
one sister, Dessie Marie Owens of Mineola; three grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to West Texas Rehabilitation Center,
4601 Hartford, Abilene 79605, or Hospice of the Big Country, 3113
Oldham Lane, Abilene 79601. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today
at the funeral home.
Janie Warren Packwood
Janie Warren Packwood, 96, of the Abilene-Tye area, died Thursday
in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. Jim
Ritter officiating. Burial will be in Tye Cemetery.
Mrs. Packwood was born in Tom Green County and attended school
in Plainview. She married F.C. Packwood in Plainview in 1918.
She was a homemaker and moved to the Abilene-Tye area in 1977.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tye.
Survivors include one son, Edward B. Packwood of Old Town,
Idaho; one daughter, Patsy Lou Presnell of Spartanburg, S.C.;
one sister, Maurine Gayle of Eugene, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; 33
great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Beverly Rose Batt
ZEPHYR - Beverly Rose Batt, 22, died recently.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Zephyr Cemetery
with the Rev. Gary Day officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral
Home of Early.
Mrs. Batt moved to Brown County in 1988 from Grapevine. She
was a homemaker and a member of Blanket Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Cheyenne Dakota Batt and T.J. Batt,
both of Zephyr; one daughter, Carol Elaine Batt of Zephyr; her
grandmother, Lois Bryce of Zephyr; one uncle; one aunt and several
cousins.
Jessie Kirk Tackett
BROWNWOOD - Jessie Kirk Tackett, 55, of Liberty, died Tuesday
in Liberty.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Eastlawn Memorial
Park with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating, directed by Davis-Morris
Funeral Home.
Mr. Tackett was born in Brown County and graduated from Grand
Falls Royalty High School before entering the military. He has
lived in Liberty for the past seven years. He was a construction
worker and a member of Union Methodist Church in Grand Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Tackett of Liberty; two
sons, Jeremy Tackett of Liberty and Jared Jewkes of El Paso; five
daughters, Elisa Rankin of Uvalde, Angela Hegstrom of Lubbock,
and Nicole Tackett, Jessica Tackett and Jennifer Tackett, all
of Liberty; his mother, Eloise Tackett of Alpine; one sister,
Georgina Rinehart of Alpine; four grandchildren; two nieces and
several cousins.
Sam Hights
EASTLAND - Sam R. Hights, 84, died Thursday in an Eastland
hospital.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church
with the Rev. Danny Brown officiating and at 3 p.m. Tuesday in
Greater St. Paul Baptist Church in Brazoria, both services directed
by Bakker Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Paradise Memorial
Cemetery in Brazoria County.
Mr. Hights was born in Brazoria County and married Christine
Lemons in 1955. He moved to Eastland in 1958 and was a retired
carpenter. He was a longtime deacon of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Eastland; one son, Eddie John
Jammer of Eastland; one daughter, Nancy Motte of Galveston; and
several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Beatrice 'Bea' Schroeder
WINTERS - Beatrice "Bea" Schroeder, 92, Winters fifth-grade
teacher for many years, died Thursday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in St. John's Lutheran
Church with the Rev. James Hanson officiating. Burial will be
in Bluff Creek Cemetery in south Taylor County, directed by Winters
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Schroeder was born in Drascoe, where she lived most of
her life, and graduated from Winters High School in 1924 and Sul
Ross State University. She also taught school in Terry County,
Buffalo Gap, Valley Creek and Hatchell. She was a member of Runnels
County Retired Teachers Association, Ladies Aid and St. John's
Lutheran Church. She was the widow of Erwin Schroeder, whom she
married in 1937 in Ballinger.
Survivors include one son, James Erwin Schroeder of Fort Worth;
two daughters, Sylvia Ann Richie of Houston and Linda June Castle
of El Paso; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Lottie Marie Carriger
CLYDE - Lottie Marie Carriger, 85, died Friday in an Abilene
nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Bailey Funeral Home Chapel
with Jim Hall officiating.
Mrs. Carriger was born in Bryan and married George G. Carriger
in 1928 in Abilene. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, Reba Lockaby of Denton Valley;
one son, George M. Carriger of Lubbock; one brother, Roy Dodson
of Brownwood; three sisters, Loraine Lentz and Bonita Petty, both
of Brownwood, and Oletha Watkins of Highland; six grandchildren;
10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
James Farrell
James R. Farrell, 70, died Friday in a local hospital. Services
are pending with Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277
South.

BIG SPRING - Gertrude McCann, 74, died Friday in a Midland

BIG SPRING - Jimmy Garrard, 48, died Friday in a local hospital
after a sudden illness. Services are pending with Myers &
Smith Funeral Home.
Lloyd Miller
BRECKENRIDGE - Lloyd Miller died Friday at his home at Lake
Hubbard. Services are pending with Morehart Mortuary.
Mattie Lou Storey
BIG SPRING - Mattie Lou Storey, 88, died Thursday in a local
nursing home. Graveside services were Friday in Trinity Memorial
Park, directed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Velma Stewart
RISING STAR - Velma Stewart, 78, died Thursday at home. Services
will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Comanche Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche.
Zora Patterson
BIG SPRING - Zora Patterson, 94, of Dimmitt, formerly of Big
Spring, died Friday in a Dimmitt hospital. Graveside services
will be at 3 p.m. today in Mount Olive Memorial Park, directed
by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Margaret Key
SNYDER - Margaret Key, 89, of Lubbock and formerly of Snyder,
died Friday in a Lubbock nursing home. Services will be at 4 p.m.
Monday in Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel.

BALLINGER - Rolando Ruiz, 32, died Thursday in Ballinger. Burial
will be in Mexico, directed by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Dora Sellers
SNYDER - Dora Sellers, 93, died Thursday in a local nursing
home. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. today in Bell-Cypert-Seale
Funeral Home Chapel.
Kathleen Runnels
DUBLIN - Kathleen Runnels, 70, died Thursday in a Stephenville
hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Greens Creek Baptist
Church near Dublin, directed by Harrell Funeral Home.

Snyder, died Friday in a Lubbock nursing home after a lengthy
illness. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Dunn
Cemetery, directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
