Laura Ella Campbell

Laura Ella Campbell, 82, lifelong Abilene-area resident, died Saturday in Abilene.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel with Edward Loomis officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel.

Ms. Campbell was born in Merkel and was a homemaker. She worked as a home caregiver and was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Wesley Collins

WOODSON -- Wesley Collins, 44, died Friday in a Dallas hospital.

The body was cremated, and a memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements were made by Merriman-Archer Funeral Home of Throckmorton.

Mr. Collins was born in Brownfield and worked as a painter. He moved to Woodson in 1976 from Eastland. He lived in Hawaii for four years before returning to Woodson. He was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church in Abilene.

Survivors include two daughters, Angie Hewlett and Wendy Collins, both of Maui, Hawaii; one son, Dustin Collins of Woodson; his parents, Charles and Pat Collins of Woodson; two brothers, Donnie Collins of Las Vegas, Nev., and Bobby Collins of Woodson; and one grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Wesley Collins Children's Fund and left at the funeral home or Woodson First State Bank.

Thomas Eugene Scott

MIDLAND -- Thomas E. Scott, 70, brother of a Sweetwater resident, died Friday in Midland.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nicholas A. Marziani officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Mr. Scott was born in Roscoe and married Wanda Ruth Pence in 1950. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1954 and was an aircraft maintenance crew chief with the U.S. Air Force during the Berlin Airlift. He was transferred to Midland in 1960 as a reservoir engineer for Humble Oil. He worked for Forest Oil Corp. from 1965 until retiring in 1984.

Survivors include his wife, of Midland; one son, Matthew Scott of Austin; one daughter, Dr. K. Jane Scott of Lubbock; one brother, Gerald Scott of Aurora, Colo.; two sisters, Nita Pellerin of Sweetwater and Verda Duncan of Hemet, Calif.

Jimmy Dale 'Bear' Wesley

RANGER -- Jimmy Dale "Bear" Wesley, 46, died Friday in an Eastland hospital after a sudden illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Speer officiating. Burial will be in Necessity Cemetery in Stephens County.

Mr. Wesley was born in Ranger and attended school in Breckenridge. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry and married Sharon Young in 1997 in Eastland.

Survivors include his wife, of Ranger; three daughters, Jodi Wesley of Stephenville and twins Melissa Wesley of Ranger and Michelle Wesley of Tucson, Ariz.; two stepsons, Ricky Shanafelt of Beaumont and Douglas Shanafelt of Dublin; one stepdaughter, Cathy Towel of Oklahoma City; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Wesley of La Casa; one sister, Mary Wesley of Ranger; three brothers, Jack Wesley of Granbury, Dave Wesley of La Casa and Joe Wesley of Ranger; and seven grandchildren.

Orville 'Bud' Farris

COLEMAN -- Orville "Bud" Farris, 57, died Wednesday in a Big Spring hospital.

The body was cremated, and private services will be at later date in Cushing, Okla.

Mr. Farris was born in Cushing, Okla., where he attended school, and served with the U.S. Navy. He married his wife in 1968 in Las Vegas, Nev. He lived for many years in California, where he worked as an electrician, and moved to Coleman in 1993. He was a life member of American Quarter Horse Association and also was a member of National Cutting Horse Association. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Lynne Farris of Coleman; one son, John Michael Farris of Upland, Calif.; three brothers, Don Farris of Cushing, Okla., Ed Farris of Oklahoma City and Bill Farris of Tulsa, Okla.; and several nephews.

Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.

Thresa Estelle White

WINTERS -- Thresa Estelle White, 83, died Friday in a local nursing home.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Crews Cemetery with the Rev. Gayland Broadstreet officiating, directed by Winters Funeral Home.

Mrs. White was born in Runnels County, where she lived most of her life, and graduated from Content High School. She married J.R. White in 1931 in Coleman and worked as a grocery store clerk. She was a homemaker and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, of Winters; one sister, Virginia Marsh of Winters; and several nieces and nephews.

William Roberson

ASPERMONT -- William L. Roberson, 69, of Burnet, died Saturday in Burnet. Services are pending with McCoy Funeral Home.

Rachel Virginia 'Bobbie' Perkins

EARLY -- Rachel Virginia "Bobbie" Perkins, 69, of Mills County, died Saturday at her home. Services are pending with Heartland Funeral Home.

Annie Katherine Nobles

ALBANY -- Annie Katherine (Mrs. James H.) Nobles, 86, died Friday in a local nursing home. Services are pending with Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.

Jonnie Hearn

EASTLAND -- Jonnie Hearn, 87, died Saturday in a local hospital. Services are pending with Bakker Funeral Home.

Leonard Edgerton

BIG SPRING -- Leonard Edgerton, 72, died Saturday in a local hospital after a long illness. Services are pending with Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

Edna Wells

COLEMAN -- Edna Wells, 93, died Saturday in an Abilene nursing home. Services are pending with Stevens Funeral Home.

Johnnie Louise Kelly

BRECKENRIDGE -- Johnnie Louise Kelly died Saturday in Houston. Services are pending with Morehart Mortuary.

Eileen Shipp

STEPHENVILLE -- Eileen Shipp, 83, died Friday in a local hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Lacy Funeral Home Chapel.

Lloyd Miller

BRECKENRIDGE -- Lloyd G. Miller, 74, died Friday at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Morehart Mortuary Chapel.

Jimmie Garrard

BIG SPRING -- Jimmie Garrard, 48, died Friday in a local hospital after a sudden illness. Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Myers & Smith Funeral Home Chapel.

Albert Leeder

GOLDTHWAITE -- Albert L. Leeder, 81, died Saturday at his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Chapel.

Gertrude Marcella McCann

BIG SPRING -- Gertrude Marcella McCann, 74, died Friday in a Midland hospital after a long illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Myers & Smith Funeral Home Chapel.

Rafael Mendez

BIG SPRING -- Rafael G. Mendez, 71, of San Angelo and formerly of Big Spring, died Friday in Albuquerque, N.M., after a brief illness. A memorial Rosary will be said at 5 p.m. Monday in Myers & Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
