Charles David 'C.D.' Holmes
Charles David "C.D." Holmes, 85, died Thursday at
his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home
Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Dr. Eddie Sharp and A.H.
Kennamer officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Holmes was born in Hill County and graduated from high
school in Hobbs, N.M., in 1931 and Abilene Christian College in
1935. He married Christine Young in 1936 in Mount Hope, Ala. He
served with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and graduated
from Texas Tech University in 1950. He was a school superintendent
in Stratford and Friona. He also was superintendent of the Industrial
Consolidated School District in Vanderbilt for 12 years and the
Calhoun County School District in Port Lavaca for nine years until
retiring. He moved to Abilene in 1973 from Port Lavaca. He was
a former member of the Lions Club and was a member of Retired
Teachers Association and University Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one sister, Lucille
Ezzell of Abilene; and two nephews.

Myrtle Duggan
EASTLAND -- Myrtle L. Duggan, 90, died Friday at her daughter's
home in Eastland.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Rising Star Church of
Christ with Danny Duggan and Ed Headrick officiating. Burial will
be in Rising Star Cemetery, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home
of Rising Star.
Mrs. Duggan was born in Ranger and was a homemaker. She was
a member of Rising Star Church of Christ and was the widow of
James R. Duggan, whom she married in 1924 in Ranger.
Survivors include five sons, Gerald Duggan of Waco, Bobby Duggan
of Marlow, Okla., Donald Duggan of Ranger, Larry Duggan of Potosi
and Garry Duggan of Big Sandy; five daughters, Frances Agnew of
Rising Star, Martha Burns and Patricia Schafer, both of Eastland,
Jettie Butler of Abilene and Linda Nichols of Arlington; one sister,
Ruby Williamson of Ranger; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren;
and four great-great-grandchildren.
Vernon McIntosh Sr.
BUFFALO GAP -- Vernon A. McIntosh Sr., 74, of Vidor, died Thursday
in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at noon Tuesday in Broadway Baptist Temple
in Houston with the Rev. Wayne Heinze officiating. Burial will
be in National Cemetery in Houston, directed by National Funeral
Home of Houston. Local arrangements were made by Fry-Bartlett
Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Mr. McIntosh was born in Sealy and lived for many years in
Houston, where he attended school. He served with the U.S. Army
during World War II. He worked as an accountant for the city of
Houston for 30 years until retiring in 1975. He moved to Vidor
in 1984. He was a member of Pine Forrest Baptist Church in Vidor
and was the widower of Marie Potter McIntosh, whom he married
in 1943 in California.
Survivors include two daughters, Virginia "Ginny"
McIntosh of Buffalo Gap and Susan DeFriend of Houston; two sons,
James McIntosh of Cotulla and Vernon Ansel McIntosh Jr. of Vidor;
one brother, Lawrence Alderson of Houston; two sisters, Virginia
Ann Longmire of Houston and Pam Alderson of Fredericksburg; nine
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Maude Newton Fine
COMANCHE -- Maude Newton Fine, 94, died Friday in a Brownwood
hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Comanche Gardens
of Memory with Jeff Sweeten officiating, directed by Hall &
Sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Fine was born in Summersville, Ala., and moved to Comanche
in 1989 from Petrolia. She attended 10th and Broad Street Church
of Christ in Wichita Falls and was the widow of William L. Fine,
whom she married in 1923 in Mangum, Okla.
Survivors include one son, Billy N. Fine of Comanche; two daughters,
Kathryn A. Kerland of Iowa Park and Marjorie Fine of Comanche;
one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Pearl Zachary
BROWNWOOD -- Pearl Zachary, 94, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. today in Davis-Morris Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. Kelvin Kelly officiating. Burial will
be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mrs. Zachary was born in La Grange and was a homemaker. She
moved to Brownwood in 1997 from La Grange. She was a Baptist and
was the widow of Nicholas Zachary, whom she married in La Grange.
Survivors include four sisters, Nell Jones of Fort Worth, and
Marie Thomas, Mary Reed and Ida Mae Hurd, all of Brownwood; and
many nieces and nephews.
Herman Tretter
STRAWN -- Herman H. Tretter, 50, died Thursday in a Mineral
Wells hospital.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Mount Marion
Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Orsini officiating, directed by
Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Tretter was born in Buh in Morrison County, Minn., and
worked as a mechanic for many years. He also was a truck driver.
He married Sandra Blocker in 1986 in Strawn.
Survivors include his wife, of Strawn; two sons, Charlie Tretter
of Strawn and Wayne Miller of Mineral Wells; one stepson, Steve
Baugus of Strawn; two brothers, Joe Tretter and Donald Tretter,
both of Coon Rapids, Minn.; two sisters, Frances Hoheisel of Pierz,
Minn., and Rosemary Arvidson of Anoka, Minn.; and two grandchildren.
Don Horton
Don D. Horton, 76, died Friday in a local hospital. A memorial
service is pending.
Winnie Lee Billingsley
MERKEL -- Winnie Lee Billingsley, 89, died Friday at her daughter's
home in Merkel. Services are pending with Starbuck Funeral Home.
J.B. Spencer
SWEETWATER -- J.B. Spencer, 64, died Thursday in an Abilene
hospital. Services are pending with Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral
Home.
Lloyd Judson Badgett
Lloyd Judson Badgett, 79, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel,
5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Richard Warren Duvall
ROSCOE -- Richard Warren Duvall, 56, of Kempner, died Thursday
at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Roscoe First
Methodist Church, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.

GOLDTHWAITE -- Nell Weaver died Friday in a Gatesville hospital.
