Army Retired Maj. Lloyd Judson Badgett
U.S. Army Retired Maj. Lloyd Judson Badgett, 78, died Friday
in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel,
5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. Don Valenta and Dr. Elbert
Peak officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Badgett was born in Whitewright and taught at the University
of Central Arkansas and Missouri State University. He was a member
of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6873 and Caps Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Katie Welch Badgett; two stepsons
and one stepdaughter; one sister, Pattye Tolliver-Mart; six grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Robert Lee Garner Jr.
Robert Lee Garner Jr., 85, died Friday in a local care center.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hawley Cemetery
with Dave Takacs officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Garner was born in Cleveland, Ark., and moved to Abilene
in 1947 from Arkansas. He owned and operated a dragline business.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias for more than 50 years.
He was a Baptist and was the widower of Louise Ellison Garner,
whom he married in 1933.
Survivors include four daughters, Bobbie Estes of San Angelo,
Shirley Short of Sinking Springs, Ohio, and Annette Frazier and
Paula Guthrie, both of Clyde; one brother, Quincy "Jack"
Garner of Abilene; one sister; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Dianna Lee Hayward
STAMFORD -- Dianna Lee Hayward, 42, died Friday in an Abilene
hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Tankersley Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Morton officiating. Burial will be
in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Ms. Hayward was born in Princess Ann, Md., and was a homemaker.
She formerly lived in Philadelphia.
Survivors include one son, Warren Hayward of California; three
daughters, Valdette Pryor of Stamford, Patricia Hayward of Philadelphia
and Wanelle Hayward of California; her mother, Tommie Hayward
of Philadelphia; three brothers, Calvin Tubbs of Philadelphia,
Alonzo Hayward Jr. of New Port, N.Y., and Yul Hayward of Harrisburg,
Pa.; one sister, Barbara Hayward of Rochester, N.Y.; and nine
grandchildren.
William Euell Poynor
GORMAN -- William Euell Poynor, 96, died Friday at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Higginbotham Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. Craig Rhoton officiating. Burial will
be in Oakland Cemetery.
Mr. Poynor was born in Comanche County and was a retired truck
driver. He married Elnor Maxine Edinburgh in 1981 in Throckmorton
and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of Gorman; two brothers, G.W. "Stubs"
Poynor of Hugo, Okla., and Doyle Poynor of Gorman; and one sister,
Era Poynor of Gorman.
Eldon Reynolds
SPUR -- Eldon Reynolds, 74, building supply salesman for many
years, died Saturday at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Spur First United Methodist
Church with the Rev. Larry Burton officiating. Burial will be
in Spur Memorial Cemetery, directed by Campbell Funeral Home.
Mr. Reynolds was born in Dickens County and lived in Spur most
of his life. He married Tommie B. Denison in 1944 in Spur. He
was a member of the Knights of Pythias and was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, of Spur; three sons, Eldon W. Reynolds
of The Woodlands, Tommy Reynolds of Fort Worth and Jerry Reynolds
of Lubbock; one daughter, Brenda Nail of Clyde; his mother, Mable
Reynolds of Spur; one brother, Milton Reynolds of Spur; three
sisters, Dorothy Bohannan of Lubbock, and Vivian Stansell and
Vera Jo Alexander, both of Spur; eight grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
Charles Beck
BROWNWOOD -- Charles Beck, 59, died Friday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Ebony Cemetery
in Mills County, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mr. Beck was born in Dallas, where he graduated from Woodrow
Wilson High School. He moved to Brownwood in 1993 from Dallas
and worked as a cashier at Rainbo Drive-In Grocery.
Survivors include two brothers, Pat Beck of Red Oak and Roneal
Beck of Dallas; one sister, Linda Stinson of Dallas; and several
nieces and nephews.
J.B. Spencer
SWEETWATER -- J.B. Spencer, 64, maintenance supervisor for
Flintkote for 33 years until retiring, died Thursday in an Abilene
hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Avondale Baptist Church
with the Revs. Cecil Deadman and William Jackson officiating,
directed by Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Mr. Spencer was born in Parker County near Weatherford and
married Helen Boiles in 1950 in Hamlin. He was a deacon at Avondale
Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Sweetwater; one son, Gary Spencer
of Roscoe; one daughter, Katherine Miles of Warrensburg, Mo.;
his mother, Avo Spencer of Anson; one sister, Leta Mae Kendricks
of Anson; and four grandchildren.
