Fredonia 'Lynn' Walker
Fredonia "Lynn" Walker, 37, died Thursday at her
home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel,
5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. David Cason officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Ms. Walker was born in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High
School. She was a self-employed daycare operator and was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Bo Preston Walker of Abilene; her
parents, Bertha and Harold Suiter of Abilene; her biological father,
Leonard R. Glaze of Georgia; four brothers, Earl Ray Glaze of
Georgia, Jeff Suiter of Midland, Neil Suiter of Marshall and Gene
Suiter of Henderson, Nev.; two sisters, Tracy Stale of Modesto,
Calif., and Alicea Murinchack of Little Rock, Ark.; and her grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Tyler of Abilene.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Jo Ann Young
Jo Ann Young, 60, died Friday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with Joe Hughes
and Dell Young officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m.
in Spur Memorial Cemetery in Spur.
Mrs. Young was born in Spur, where she graduated from high
school in 1956. She married Wallace Young in 1956 and worked for
the Brazosport school district for 20 years. She moved to Abilene
18 months ago from Lake Jackson and was a member of Locust Street
Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; two sons, Clay Young
of Spur and Kyle Young of Houston; one daughter, Cheryl Mavroulis
of Abilene; two sisters, Margaret Bailey of West Columbia and
Lillian Compton of Brazoria; seven grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Hendrick Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1922,
Abilene 79604.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Ramona Ocon
Ramona Ocon, 92, died Friday in a local nursing home.
Mass will be said at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Francis Catholic
Church with the Rev. Obioma D. Obi officiating. Burial will be
in Caps Cemetery, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Ocon grew up in Tye and married Nicholas Ocon in 1918
in Abilene. She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Francis
Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Monica Cortinez and Frances
Martinez, both of Abilene; four sons, Freddie Ocon of Caps, Faustino
Ocon of Tye, Johnny Ocon of Odessa and Silviano Ocon of Abilene;
and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great
grandchildren.
The body will be at 1026 S. 7th.
Donna Cogburn
Donna E. Cogburn, 56, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Bill Nash officiating.
Burial will be in Clyde Cemetery.
Ms. Cogburn was born in Olney and moved to Abilene in 1960
from Clyde. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ.
Survivors include her mother, Johnnie Cogburn of Abilene; two
brothers, Freddie E. Cogburn of Pipe Creek and Dennis L. Cogburn
of Laredo; one sister, Martha C. Glassy of Bossier City, La.;
and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Scott Eugene Bredeck
Scott Eugene Bredeck, 30, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic
Church with the Rev. Obioma D. Obi officiating. Burial will be
in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242
Orange.
Mr. Bredeck was born in Minot, N.D., and lived in Okinawa,
Japan before moving to Abilene in 1971. He graduated from Cooper
High School in 1986 and a truck driving academy. He was a truck
company employee and was a Catholic.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Bredeck of
Abilene; one sister, Debora Bredeck of Denton; his grandmother,
Teresa Bredeck of Albany, Minn.; and many aunts and uncles.
Charles Jackson Foster
Charles Jackson Foster, 77, died Saturday in a local nursing
home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Billy Berny officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson.
Mr. Foster was born in Anson and graduated from Trent High
School. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre
during World War II and was a major. He was a retired chemical
engineer and moved to Abilene in 1988 from Boyd. He was a member
of Disabled American Veterans and the Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Jackson Foster II of
Missouri City, Michael Don Foster of Spannaway, Wash., and David
Carl Foster of Abilene; one brother, Robert Foster of Carlsbad,
N.M.; and five grandchildren.

Jessie Jewel Foster
CLYDE -- Jessie Jewel Foster, 94, died Tuesday in a local nursing
home.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Bailey Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Skaggs officiating. Burial will be
in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene.
Mrs. Foster was born in Mabank and she and her husband were
farmers for many years. She also was a homemaker. She lived in
Elmdale, Rowden, Blanket and Cross Plains before moving to Clyde
in 1996. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was the
widow of Charles Hiram Foster, whom she married in 1919 in Cross
Plains.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Foster and Gene Foster,
both of Clyde; one daughter, Golda Huston of Austin; three brothers,
L.G. Akins of Eastland, C.H. Akins of Houston and R.J. Akins of
Brownwood; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Nellie Mary Box Bennett
STAMFORD -- Nellie Mary Box Bennett, 83, died Saturday in an
Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Tankersley Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Jim Alling officiating. Burial will be in
Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson.
Mrs. Bennett was born in Stamford and was a homemaker. She
also was an artist and taught private art lessons. She was a member
of Stamford Garden Club and First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Stanford of Amarillo;
one son, Zed Bennett of Abilene; three grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
John Roseboom
EARLY -- John H. Roseboom, 65, died Friday at his home.
Graveside services will be in Arlington National Cemetery in
Washington, D.C. at a later date. Arrangements were made by Heartland
Funeral Home.
Mr. Roseboom was born in Watertown, N.Y., and attended school
in Brownsville, N.Y. He was a pilot in the Korean and Vietnam
wars and received a silver star and bronze star. He retired as
a major from the U.S. Air Force in 1972. He married Kathleen A.
DeBlauw in 1975 in West Point, N.Y., and formerly lived in Round
Rock. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Brownwood,
American Legion and Masonic Lodge in Round Rock, and Sojourners
and Shrine clubs in Austin. He was a Presbyterian.
Survivors include his wife, of Early; one son, John Gary Roseboom
of Round Rock; one daughter, Christine Autero of Danbury, Conn.;
one sister, Diane Slate of Brownsville, N.Y.; two grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Maybell Gilbreath Seate
BROWNWOOD -- Maybell Gilbreath Seate, 92, of Wheatridge, Colo.,
died Wednesday in a Wheatridge nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Davis-Morris Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating. Burial will be in
Cox Cemetery in McCulloch County.
Mrs. Seate was born in Mercury and taught school. She was a
Baptist and was the widow of Jay Tee Seate.
Survivors include one son, Jay Troy Seate of Colorado; two
brothers, Jack Gilbreath of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Kenneth
Gilbreath of Brookesmith; two grandchildren; and many nieces and
nephews.
Barbara Johnson
COAHOMA -- Barbara Johnson, 71, died Thursday from injuries
received in an automobile accident near Fort Worth. Services are
pending with Myers & Smith Funeral Home of Big Spring.
Oather Poe
KNOX CITY -- Oather Poe died Saturday at his home. Services
are pending with Smith Funeral Home.
Jewell Nipp
BIG SPRING -- Jewell Nipp, 75, of Mansfield and formerly of
Big Spring, died Saturday in a Mansfield nursing home. Services
are pending with Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Mary Rebekah Cockrell
STEPHENVILLE -- Mary Rebekah Cockrell, 72, died Friday at her
home. The body was cremated. A memorial service will be at 11
a.m. Monday in Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel.
Felisitas Gonzales Arista
BIG SPRING -- Felisitas Gonzales Arista, 75, died Saturday
at her home. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Nalley-Pickle
& Welch Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel. Mass will be at 10:30
a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Dr. Robert Walker
STEPHENVILLE -- Dr. Robert H. Walker, 89, died Friday at his
home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Stephenville Funeral
Home Chapel.
Benny Ray McDowell
DUBLIN -- Benny Ray McDowell, 64, died Friday at his home near
Dublin. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Harrell Funeral Home
Memorial Chapel.
