Lorine Harrell

Lorine Harrell, 64, died Saturday in a local hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby L. King officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mrs. Harrell was born in Little Rock, Ark., and moved to Abilene from Brownfield in 1971. She married Stance Harrell in 1956 in Fort Worth. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; five sons, Stance Harrell Jr., Gene Harrell, Jarvis Harrell and James Harrell, all of Abilene, and Telado Harrell of Austin; four daughters, Brenda Harrell, Rachel Thompson, Gayla Harrell and Christi Harrell, all of Abilene; her mother, Zetella Brown of Abilene; three brothers, Harold Brown, Rachel Brown and Sylvester Brown, all of Abilene; four sisters, Ophelia Brown of Abilene, Mattie Berry of Cisco, and May Smith and Bobbie Sue Peterson, both of Lubbock; 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Nancy Lynn Mathiews

Nancy Lynn Mathiews, 66, died Sunday at home.

Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael R. Chancellor officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Mathiews was born in Eastland and married James A. Mathiews in 1950. She was a member of ABWA, Beta Sigma Phi and many charity organizations.

Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; three daughters, Brenda Mathiews of Arlington, Karen Parsons of San Marcos, Calif., and Shari James of Abilene; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be sent to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory.

William 'Bill' Parsons

William L. "Bill" Parsons, 85, died Sunday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today in St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Archie Echols, the Rev. Kathryn Boren and Dr. David Hamblin officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mr. Parsons was born in Woodward, Okla., where he graduated from high school in 1930. He attended Washington University in St. Louis and married Helen Berniece Scott in 1935 in Woodward. He was self-employed as a building contractor before moving from Waco to Abilene in 1950 to be sales manager of Elmwood Memorial Park.

He was a member of St. Paul and a master Mason in the Waco Lodge, 92. He was active in the Abilene Chapter of Gideon International and Habitat for Humanity, served on the board of directors of Pastoral Care and Counseling Center and was the general contractor for Hope Haven.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara K. Ice of Tomball and B. Ann Evensen of Austin; one sister, Beulah VanDorn of Woodward; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a companion, Mary Beth Gray of Abilene.

Memorials may be sent to the Abilene Chapter of Gideon International, P.O. Box 2882, Abilene.

Clinton Woodlock

LUBBOCK - Clinton C. Woodlock, 85, died Monday at home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Cline Paden and Lee Towns officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Mr. Woodlock was born in Gatesville and moved to Lubbock in 1942 from Abilene. He married Mozelle Sosebee in 1940 in San Angelo. He served in the Air Force during World War II and was in the furniture retail sales business.

Survivors include his wife, of Lubbock; one son, Brad Woodlock of Lubbock; three daughters, Lana Woodlock of Lake Leon, Judy Woodlock Bryant of Levelland and Susan Woodlock Smithson of Lubbock; two brothers, Cecil Woodlock of Odessa and Miler Woodlock of Lubbock; two sisters, Nadine Purdy of Abilene and Anna Hill of Fort Worth; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to South Plains College Foundation, Founders Plaza, 1401 S. College Ave., Levelland.

Gregory Mark Gaines

SAN ANGELO - Gregory Mark Gaines, 35, died Saturday at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with Calvin Warpula officiating. Graveside services will follow in Elmwood Memorial Garden in Abilene.

Mr. Gaines was born in Anson and lived in Abilene from 1982 until 1987, when he moved to San Angelo and held various jobs, mostly in the oilfield. Most recently he worked for Son-Tex Rat Hole in Sonora. He enjoyed fishing, camping and working in his vegetable garden.

Survivors include one daughter, Kayla Dawn Gaines of San Angelo; one son, Christopher Mark Gaines of San Angelo; his parents, George and Brenda Gaines of San Angelo; three grandparents; two nieces and nephews; two aunts; two uncles and many cousins.

Myra Oretha Boggs

STAMFORD - Myra Oretha Boggs, 63, formerly of Anson, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Ridlehoover officiating. Burial will be in Barton's Chapel Cemetery, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Boggs was born near Jacksboro and moved to Abilene in 1954 where she married Cody C. Boggs in 1955. They moved to the Anson area in 1964 and retired to Stamford in 1992. She was a longtime member of the Cowboys Christmas Ball Association in Anson.

Survivors include her husband, of Stamford; one son, Bob Boggs of Beaumont; one sister, Pat Cooper of Arlington; two brothers, Dale Nash of Carrollton and Gene Nash of Irving; and two granddaughters.

Memorials may be sent to West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene.

Bobby Bert 'Bob' Reynolds

MERKEL - Bobby Bert "Bob" Reynolds, 70, died Monday in an Abilene nursing home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Scott officiating. Burial will be in Amity Cemetery in Comanche County.

Mr. Reynolds was born in Amity and moved to Merkel in 1959. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a caretaker of Rose Hill Cemetery and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include one sister, Bonnie Eason, of Odessa; three nephews and two nieces.

Robert Hawkins

ROTAN - Robert L. Hawkins, 67, died Friday at home in Houston.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan with the Rev. Werth Mayes officiating, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.

Mr. Hawkins was born in Hobbs, N.M., and married Regina Gannaway in 1950 in Carlsbad, N.M. He served as a staff sergeant in the Air Force in the Korean War.

He lived in Houston after moving there from Monahans in 1962. He was a certified public accountant and a member of First Baptist Church in Houston.

Survivors include his wife, of Houston; two daughters, Lorelei Lynn Hawkins of Houston and Genie Clayton Dotterweich of Katy; one son, Robert Loyd Hawkins of Monahans; his mother, Elsie Row Hawkins Dean of Houston; one brother, Delbert Hawkins of Eugene, Ore.; seven grandchildren and one cousin.

Ulysses Tony "U.T." Smith

MERKEL - Ulysses Tony "U.T." Smith, 75, died Monday at home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born in Mead, Okla., and attended Merkel High School. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II and served in the Naval Reserve. A truck driver for over 50 years, he worked for several trucking firms and retired from Elmo Moore Trucking. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of University Baptist Church in Abilene.

Survivors include two sisters, Euveta Tittle of Merkel and Alvarie Stokes of Bowie, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.

Lora Spurling Oman Olson

STAMFORD - Lora Spurling Oman Olson, 79, died Sunday in her home.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. today in Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl with the Rev. Kent Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the churchyard cemetery, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Olson was born in Anson, graduated from Anson High School, and was a lifelong resident of the area.

She married J.V. Oman in 1941 in Ericksdahl. After he died in 1973, she married Maynard Olson in 1984 in Ericksdahl. She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church where she served as secretary, Sunday School teacher, director of the children's Christmas program and was a member of the church council and Bethel Womens Willing Workers. She was a member of the Pierian Club in Stamford. She worked as a bookkeeper for Houston Hardware and the Ericksdahl Water Board and retired in 1995 after working for Congressman Charles Stenholm's Stamford office.

Survivors include her husband, of Stamford; one son, Dr. John Bill Oman of Ericksdahl; one stepson, W.M. "Sonny" Olson of Stamford; two stepdaughters, Eddie Thane of Ericksdahl and Lee Mayberry of Slaton; one sister, Audrey Boyd of Anson, five granddaughters, seven step grandchildren, one great-grandchild and nine step great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Big Country, 3909 S. 7th, Abilene, or Bethel Lutheran Church Contingency Fund via the funeral home.

Eula Norris Weatherford

BRECKENRIDGE - Eula Norris Weatherford, 100, died Sunday in Breckenridge.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Elliott Street Church of Christ with Jim Cox officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery, directed by Morehart Mortuary.

Mrs. Weatherford was born in Greenville and attended school in Hunt County. She married John Lesley Weatherford in Greenville and came to Stephens County in 1924. She lived in Ivan until 1935, when she moved to Breckenridge. She worked as a seamstress for J.C. Penny Co., C.R. Anthony Co. and the Cinderella Dress Shop. She was a member of Elliott Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Davidson of Colorado Springs, Col., and Jean Blevins of Breckenridge; three sisters, Maggie Nalls, Erna McCord and Fay Little, all of Greenville; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.

Peggy Sims

COMANCHE - Peggy M. Sims, 70, died Sunday in a Comanche hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Board Church Cemetery, directed by Hall & Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sims was born in Comanche County, near the Hasse community. She was a lifelong resident of Comanche and a Baptist. She was produce manager for Red & White Grocery and Country Boys Good Store after operating a fruit and vegetable business for many years.

Survivors include three brothers, J.C. Sims of Lubbock, Lewis Sims of Mullin and Don Sims of Waco; and 13 nieces and nephews.

Antonio Valdez

Antonio L. Valdez, 90, died Monday in a local nursing home. Services are pending with Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home.

Ben 'Buddy' Bates

SWEETWATER - Ben L. "Buddy" Bates, 69, died Monday in an Abilene hospital. Services are pending with McCoy Funeral Home.

Exie Haynes

LAWN - Exie Haynes, 95, died Monday in a Dallas hospital. Services are pending with Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home.

Ben Chambers

STEPHENVILLE - Ben H. Chambers, 83, died Sunday in a Stephenville hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Huckabay Baptist Church, directed by Stephenville Funeral Home.

George 'Jim' Covey

BROWNWOOD - George "Jim" Covey, 74, died Sunday in a Brownwood hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Eastlawn Memorial Park, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Jack Hale

STEPHENVILLE - Jack C. Hale, 78, died Monday in a Stephenville hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel.

Angeline Peterson Shaw

BIG SPRING - Angeline Peterson Shaw, 94, died Sunday in a local hospital. Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel.
