Ben 'Buddy' Bates
SWEETWATER -- Ben L. "Buddy" Bates, 69, of the Sweetwater
area, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel
of Memories with the Rev. Kay Reed officiating. Burial with Masonic
rites will be in Garden of Memories.
Mr. Bates was born in Big Spring and served with the U.S. Army
during World War II. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University
and married Evalyn Bunn in 1950 in Abilene. He worked for Hughes
Tool Co. for 35 years until retiring and was a farmer and rancher.
He was a member of Monahans Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree
Mason. He was a Presbyterian.
Survivors include his wife, of Sweetwater; one daughter, Dee
Anne McFarland of Baku, Azerbaijan; two sons, Donald L. Bates
of Melbourne, Australia, and Robert D. Bates of Houston; two sisters,
Leta Wright of Shiner and Mozelle Gray of Abilene; one brother,
Wayne Bates; and two grandchildren.
Albert 'Pat' Morris
COLORADO CITY -- Albert B. "Pat" Morris, 46, lifelong
Mitchell County resident, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Kiker-Seale Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. James Sanders officiating. Burial will be
in Westbrook Cemetery.
Mr. Morris was born in Loraine and married Becky Matlock in
1968 in Colorado City. He worked in the oil field and was a member
of Jesus Name Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Colorado City; one daughter,
Amber Danielle Morris of Colorado City; two sons, Cory Ky Shane
Morris of Westbrook and Chandler Heath Morris of Colorado City;
his parents, Pete and Tootsie Morris of Colorado City; five sisters,
Sharon Morris and Venessa Baker, both of Colorado City, Nita Higgins
of Memphis, Patsy Daniel of Gilmore and Wanda Manley of Big Spring;
two brothers, Bobby Morris and James Morris, both of Colorado
City; and two grandchildren.
J.P. 'Jack' Bowden
COLEMAN -- J.P. "Jack" Bowden, 78, died Wednesday
in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Stevens Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Robert Stumph officiating. Burial will be
in Brown Ranch Cemetery.
Mr. Bowden was born in Plymouth, Pa., where he attended school,
and served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World
War II. He married Nelline Bell in 1957 in Fisk and worked for
GTE in telephone equipment sales and later as sales supervisor
of the Southwest region until retiring in 1982. He lived in San
Angelo, Robstown and Lewisville before moving to Coleman in 1982
and was a Charismatic Christian.
Survivors include his wife, of Coleman; one brother, William
Bowden of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; two sisters, Mary Muscavage and Margaret
Skvarla, both of Plymouth, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society.
Kenneth Eugene Richardson
BIG SPRING -- Kenneth Eugene Richardson, 23, of Stephenville,
formerly of Big Spring, died Wednesday in Stephenville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in
Big Spring with the Rev. Ben Neel, pastor of Salem Baptist Church,
officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Memorial Park, directed
by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Mr. Richardson was born in Oklahoma City, Okla. He came to
Big Spring in 1978 as a child and attended Big Spring schools,
graduating from Big Spring High School in 1993. He attended Tarleton
State University and graduated last month with a bachelor's degree
in finance. He was a member and outgoing president of Lambda Chi
Alpha fraternity at Tarleton. While at Tarleton he was involved
in student government. He was a member of First Baptist Church
in Big Spring.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Ray
Kennedy of Big Spring; his father and stepmother, Robert and Linda
Richardson of Roscoe; a brother, Michael Richardson of Stephenville;
two sisters, Stefanie Kennedy of Big Spring and Krista Richardson
of Sweetwater; his grandmothers, Helen Dial of Oklahoma City,
Bernice Richardson of Mineral Wells and Jean Emerson of Big Spring;
his grandfather, Paul Kennedy of Heflin, Ala., and his great-grandmother,
Reba Rogan of Big Spring.
R.W. Cagle
BIG SPRING -- R.W. Cagle, 84, died Thursday at his residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Nalley-Pickle &
Welch Rosewood Chapel with Paul B. Keele, pastor of West Angelo
Church of Christ, San Angelo, and Robert Turner, pastor of Oasis
Church of Christ, officiating.
Graveside services will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Stag Creek
Cemetery between Rising Star and Comanche.
Mr. Cagle was born in Eastland County. He worked as a conductor
for T&P Railroad for 36 years, retiring in 1978. He was active
with the Senior Citizen Center. He was a member of Oasis Church
of Christ.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Cagle of Big Spring, Joe
Cagle of Carbon and Bud Cagle of Odessa; a daughter, Agatha Thomasson
of Clyde; a sister, Conova Weaver of Comanche; a brother, Lohman
Cagle of Comanche; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made to Family Hospice, 3210
E. 11th Place, Big Spring, 79720.
Lisa Sue Mirau
BROWNWOOD -- Lisa Sue Mirau, 31, of Farmersville, formerly
of Garland, died Thursday at her Farmersville residence.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Greenleaf
Cemetery in Brownwood, under the direction of Heartland Funeral
Home of Early.
Ms. Mirau was born in Garland. She was a resident of Farmersville
since 1971 and graduated from Farmersville High School. She was
an accountant. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Farmersville.
Survivors include her parents, Michael J. Mirau of Merit and
Shirley Boyd Mirau of Farmersville; three brothers, Michael Mirau
of Dallas, Brian Mirau of Alta, N.M., and Chris Boyd of Brownwood.
Fannie Nora Bennett
Fannie Nora Bennett, 100, died Thursday in a local nursing
home. Services are pending with Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home,
1443 N. 2nd.
Sarah Byers Brinkley
COLEMAN -- Sarah Byers Brinkley, 84, died Thursday in a Kerrville
nursing home. Services are pending with Stevens Funeral Home.
Nell Herring
BRECKENRIDGE -- Nell Herring, 84, died Thursday in a local
hospital. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Memory
Lane Cemetery in Harrah, Okla., directed by Melton Funeral Home.
Melinda Grau
LEWISVILLE -- Melinda Grau, 27, formerly of Merkel, died Thursday.
Services are pending with Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S.
Hwy 277 South.
Annie May Busby
STEPHENVILLE -- Annie May Busby, 90, died Thursday at a local
nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gordon Church
of Christ in Gordon. Burial will be at Exray Cemetery in Erath
County, directed by Stephenville Funeral Home.
Joe Stacy
SANTA ANNA -- Joe Stacy, 92, of Trickham died Thursday at a
local funeral home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trickham
Union Church with the Rev. Pat McClatchy officiating. Burial will
follow at Trickham Cemetery, directed by Henderson Funeral Home
of Santa Anna.
