W.R. 'Dub' Nelms Jr.
William R. "Dub" Nelms Jr., 62, of Haskell, died
Tuesday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel,
5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. Wayne Brazil officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford.
Mr. Nelms was born in Marshall County, Okla., and attended
school in Ravia, Okla. He married Dorothy Shackelford Sageser
in 1984 in Gallup, N.M., and owned and operated Nelms Texaco in
Plains for 12 years. He was a retired Plains school employee and
moved to Stamford in 1997 from Plains. He coached Little League
baseball for many years and was a member of Plains First Baptist
Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Stamford; four sons, Robert
E. Sageser of Charleston, S.C., Danny Sageser of Hale Center,
Weldon L. Nelms of Iowa Park and Timothy Sageser of Lubbock; three
daughters, Lillie S. Ferrand of Albuquerque, N.M., Wanda L. Johnson
of Andrews and Teresa L. Kenney of Flower Mound; one brother,
John R. Nelms of Mill Creek, Okla.; two sisters, Louise Bryan
of Keller and Lou Burns of Tatum, N.M.
Memorials may be sent to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory,
Abilene 79601.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Tommie Leuvene Phariss
TUSCOLA - Tommie Leuvene Phariss, 75, lifelong local resident,
died Tuesday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Tuscola First Baptist
Church with the Rev. H.B. Terry Jr. officiating. Burial will be
in Tuscola Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home.
Mrs. Phariss was born in Tuscola, where she married J.C. Phariss
in 1944, and worked as a baker for the Abilene school system for
15 years until retiring in 1979. She was a member of Tuscola Senior
Citizens, Jim Ned Livestock Association, Tuscola Cemetery Association
and First Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sons, Tommy Lewis Gardener of La Porte,
J.C. Phariss Jr., Johnny Wells Phariss and Daniel Webb, all of
Tuscola, and Howard Wayne Phariss of Houston; one daughter, Anna
Louise Linger of Tye; one brother, Walter Pinkston of Abilene;
two sisters, Lovella Davis of Denton Valley and Mary Bowman of
Oplin; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Annie Mae Bright-Taylor
DIMMITT - Annie Mae Bright-Taylor, 97, of Trent and formerly
of Dimmitt, died Monday in an Abilene hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fourth & Bedford Street
Church of Christ with Harry Riggs and Dean Wiseman officiating.
Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens, directed by Foskey-Lilley-McGill
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Taylor was born in Palo Pinto and moved to Dimmitt in
1944 and Trent in 1993. She was a member of Castro County Senior
Citizens and Fourth & Bedford Street Church of Christ. She
was the widow of Frank J. Bright and Amzy H. Taylor.
Survivors include one brother, Sherman Driggers of Trent; two
sisters, Willie Hoffman of Brady and Myrtle Perkins of Abilene;
and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great
nieces and great great nephews.

Macki Loving Millaway
BIG SPRING - Macki Loving Millaway, 75, died Tuesday in a local
hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Nalley-Pickle & Welch
Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel with Rick Cunningham officiating.
Burial will be in Trinity Memorial Park.
Mrs. Millaway was born in Colorado City and worked as a Big
Spring school bus driver and cashier in the Goliad Middle School
cafeteria until retiring in 1988. She was a member of 14th &
Main Church of Christ and was the widow of R.L. Millaway, whom
she married in 1941 in Big Spring.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Allen Millaway of Hobbs, N.M.,
and Ricci Lynn Millaway of Carrollton; four grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
Barbara Ann Daniel Hudspeth
ROCHESTER - Barbara Ann Daniel Hudspeth, 63, died Tuesday in
a Missouri City hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Rochester First Baptist
Church with the Revs. Truett Kuenstler and Dale Turner officiating.
Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Hudspeth was born in Rule and graduated from Rochester
High School. She lived in Stafford for many years and worked as
a beautician. She later retired from Texas Instruments. She was
the widow of Sterman Hudspeth.
Survivors include three stepsons, John Hudspeth, Bob Hudspeth
and Paul Hudspeth, all of Stafford; one stepdaughter, Vicki Weems
of Stafford; one sister, Linda Northam of Throckmorton; several
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Virginia Roach
BROWNWOOD - Virginia Roach, 59, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Santa Anna
Cemetery with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating, directed by Heartland
Funeral Home of Early.
Ms. Roach was born in Santa Anna, where she attended school,
and worked as a nurse's aide. She lived in Ferriday, La. for seven
years until becoming ill. She returned to Brownwood one year ago
and was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Bobby J. Roach of Ferriday, La.;
two daughters, Debby Roach McAnally of Brownwood and Michelle
Roach Peavey of Ferriday, La.; her mother, Lela Peacock of Santa
Anna; one brother, James Peacock of Santa Anna; two sisters, Sharon
Heartnett of Ozona and Karen Croft of Santa Anna; and four grandchildren.
Anna Laura Hittson Baker Lovell
RISING STAR - Anna Laura Hittson Baker Lovell, 90, died Monday
in a local nursing home.
Services were Wednesday in Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel
with Don Longoria officiating. Burial was in Rising Star Cemetery.
Mrs. Lovell was born in Culbertson County and was a homemaker.
She moved to the Eastland County area in 1960 from Odessa. She
was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widow of Charles
E. Baker, whom she married in 1923 in Scurry County; and U.D.
Lovell, whom she married in 1983 in Eastland County.
Survivors include one son, Harold F. Baker of Odessa; one daughter,
Lenora Baker Speegle of Cisco; one sister, Dora Brady Hittson
Smith of Norman, Okla.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild;
and two nieces and five nephews.
Gertrude Scalf
BROWNWOOD - Gertrude Scalf, 90, died Tuesday in a local nursing
home.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Kolb Cemetery
in Spencer, Okla. with the Rev. Royce Smith officiating, directed
by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mrs. Scalf was born in Fort Smith, Ark., and was a homemaker.
She was a Baptist and was the widow of James Scalf, whom she married
in 1925 in Oklahoma.
Survivors include one son, Ray Scalf of Brownwood; one sister,
Willoree Whitlock of California; many grandchildren and great
grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews.
Katheryn 'Kay' Skidmore
Katheryn "Kay" Skidmore, 74, died Wednesday in Burlington,
N.C. Services are pending with Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel.
Jewel Goodall
JAYTON - Jewel Goodall, 83, died Wednesday in a local nursing
home. Services are pending with McCoy Funeral Home of Aspermont.
Bennie Houston Kile
Bennie Houston Kile, 78, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Baker Heights Church of
Christ, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Betty Dean 'Creech' Stone
IRA - Betty Dean 'Creech' Stone, 58, died Wednesday in a Snyder
hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Pyron
Cemetery, directed by Wright-Colonial Funeral Home of Snyder.

BIG SPRING - Claudie Clark, 86, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Airport Baptist Church,

COMANCHE - Gaylord Young Box, 95, died Tuesday in a local nursing
home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Eastlawn
