William Curtis
William T. Curtis, 77, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. Kelly
Pigott officiating. Burial will be in Elliott-Hamil Garden of
Memories.
Mr. Curtis was born in Amarillo, where he graduated from high
school, and served with the U.S. Army. He moved to Abilene in
1948 from Pampa. He married Winona Maxine Curry in 1951 in Abilene
and worked as a truck driver for Pioneer Oil for 10 years until
retiring. He attended SpringBrooke Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Edgar Charles
Curtis of Arlington; seven daughters, Jeanie Stammet of California,
Donna Renicks of Waco, Rachael Charlene Strickland of Benbrook,
Kathy Stumpel of Arlington, Vickie Roberts of Pampa, and Barbara
Elaine Curtis and Lois Wegener, both of Abilene; two sisters,
Beulah Flynn and Deanie Taylor, both of Pampa; 13 grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box
41, Abilene 79604.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
L.B. Patterson Jr.
MUNDAY - L.B. Patterson Jr., 77, died Saturday in a local nursing
home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Munday First Baptist
Church with Dr. H.B. Graves officiating. Burial will be in Johnson
Memorial Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Patterson was born in De Leon and moved to Munday in 1927
from Rochester. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard and was a
farmer and rancher. He was a member of First Baptist Church and
was the widower of Dorothy Lee Hardin Patterson, whom he married
in 1945 in Munday.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Wilde of Munday and
Patsy Patterson of Lubbock; one son, Boyd Patterson of Fort Worth;
one brother, Lee Patterson of Goree; two sisters, Helen Hutchinson
of Munday and Johnnie Void of Allentown, Pa.; and three grandchildren.
William Loyd Steakley
OPLIN - William Loyd Steakley, 75, died Friday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in Oplin Cemetery
with the Rev. Riley Fugitt officiating, directed by Bailey Funeral
Home of Clyde.
Mr. Steakley was born in Oplin and served with the U.S. Army
Air Corps in the European Theatre during World War II. He worked
as a machinist for General Dynamics and was a Methodist.
Survivors include one sister, Joe Evelyn Jennings of Hamby;
two nephews; and many cousins.
Clifton Price McCormick
DUBLIN - Clifton Price McCormick, 84, named Senior Citizen
of the Year in 1985, died Friday in a Temple hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Harrell Funeral Home Memorial
Chapel with Dean Bradley and Derrel Thompson officiating. Burial
will be in Erath Gardens of Memory.
Mr. McCormick was born in Whitesboro and served with the U.S.
Navy during World War II. He married Ruby Lavelle Greer in 1959
in Dimmitt and moved to Dublin in 1975. He was a retired carpenter.
He was a former Dublin city councilman and was a past president
of the Dublin chapter of American Association of Retired Persons.
He was a 50-year member of Dublin Masonic Lodge 504 and also was
a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Dublin; two sons, Cecil K. McCormick
of Hawley and R. Dell Greer of Arlington; one daughter, LaMay
Mann of Dublin; one sister, Hazel Lane of Dublin; one brother,
the Rev. Weldon McCormick of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; and
many great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Dublin Senior Citizens Center, 202
E. Clinton, Dublin 76446.
Billy Hitchcock
THROCKMORTON - Billy Hitchcock, 56, died Saturday at his home.
Services are pending with Merriman-Archer Funeral Home.
Freddie Kaye Clark
GORDON - Freddie Kaye Clark died Saturday at her sister's home
in Gordon. Services are pending with Edwards Funeral Home of Strawn.
Jesse Huffman
SWEETWATER - Jesse P. Huffman, 79, died Friday in an Abilene
hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Cate-Spencer &
Trent Funeral Home Chapel.
Marilyn Hodnett
BIG SPRING - Marilyn (Mrs. Y.B.) Hodnett, 66, died Friday in
a local hospital. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday
in Trinity Memorial Park, directed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch
Funeral Home.
Sara Margaret Harding
SNYDER - Sara Margaret Harding, 83, died Friday at her home
after a sudden illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Calvary
Baptist Church, directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
