Lyterryia Amelita Mason
Lyterryia Amelita Mason, 25, died Thursday in Jones County.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Macedonia Baptist
Church with the Rev. K.R. White officiating. Burial will be in
Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home, 542 Hickory.
Miss Mason was born in Salina, Kan., and graduated from high
school in Topeka, Kan. She attended St. Philips Junior College
in San Antonio and Cisco Junior College. She moved to Abilene
in 1995 from Topeka, Kan., and worked as an aide at Abilene State
School. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include her parents, Robert L. Mason Sr. of Abilene
and Claudette Donaldson of Topeka, Kan.; two brothers, El-Keithtryck
R. Mason and Robert L. Mason Jr., both of Abilene; one sister,
Schartryce K. Mason of San Antonio; her grandparents, Huett and
Annie White of Abilene; one niece; four uncles and six aunts;
and many cousins.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Maxine Audrey McMurray
Maxine Audrey McMurray, 73, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Westminster
Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jim Pitts officiating, directed
by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. McMurray grew up in Polson, Mont., and married Pat McMurray
in 1951 in Yokohama, Japan. She lived at several military bases
until moving to Abilene. She worked as a secretary at Hendrick
Medical Center's licensed vocational nursing school for several
years and was an elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; three sons, Timothy
McMurray and David McMurray, both of Abilene, and Mark McMurray
of De Soto; one daughter, Patricia Fakhreddine of Pittsfield,
Mass.; and 10 grandchildren.
Louis 'Louie' Ahrens
Louis "Louie" F. Ahrens, 61, died Monday in Abilene.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Elliott-Hamil
Garden of Memories with the Rev. David Cason officiating, directed
by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Ahrens served with the U.S. Army and formerly lived in
Illinois. He worked as a cook and was the widower of Billie Nell
Ahrens, whom he married in 1962.
There are no known survivors.
Terry Ross Joiner
BALLINGER -- Terry Ross Joiner, 37, of Abilene and formerly
of Paint Rock, died Tuesday in a San Angelo hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Rains-Seale Funeral
Home Chapel with Roger Roenfeldt officiating. Burial will be in
Paint Rock Cemetery.
Mr. Joiner was born in San Angelo and worked as a fast food
service manager.
Survivors include a companion, Mike Moore of Abilene; his parents,
Walter and Katy Herridge Joiner of Paint Rock; one brother, Ronald
Joiner of Paint Rock; and two sisters, Sandra Harkey of Abilene
and Brenda Kenney of Arlington.
Nettie Vinson
SANTA ANNA -- Nettie (Mrs. Tom) Vinson, 90, of Abilene and
formerly of Santa Anna, died Wednesday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Henderson Funeral Home
Chapel. Burial will be in Santa Anna Cemetery.
Mrs. Vinson was born in Coleman County and graduated from Santa
Anna High School in 1928. She formerly lived in Whon. She was
a homemaker and moved to Abilene in 1992. She was a member of
Rockwood Baptist Church and was the widow of Tom Vinson, whom
she married in 1930 in Santa Anna.
Survivors include one daughter, Mae Ellen Berry of Abilene;
one son, J.T. Vinson of Weatherford; one sister, Berta Keener
of Azle; one brother, Tom Yancy of Benbrook; six grandchildren;
15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pearl Powell Price
ROTAN -- Pearl E. Powell Price, 88, died Tuesday in a local
hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rotan First Baptist
Church with the Rev. Elijah Austin officiating. Burial will be
in Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Price was born in Waco and moved to the Rotan area as
a child. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Order of the
Eastern Star and Little Zion Baptist Church and was the widow
of Gene Powell Sr. and Frank Price.
Survivors include three sons, Eugene Powell Jr. of Hamlin,
Douglas Powell of Abilene and Donald Powell of Rotan; five daughters,
Billie Newsome of Ontario, Calif., Cleo Donaldson of Columbia,
S.C., Bobbie Black of Oceanside, Calif., and Linda McClain and
Judy Jones, both of Abilene; 23 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Ruby Nance
STAMFORD -- Ruby E. Nance, 84, of Oklahoma City and formerly
of Stamford, died Tuesday in Oklahoma City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. John's United
Methodist Church with the Rev. John Erwin officiating. Burial
will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery, directed by Tankersley
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Nance was born in Stamford and graduated from Stamford
High School and McMurry College. She married James Reuben Nance
in 1935 in Lueders. She taught school in Lueders and Stamford
for a total of 19 years until retiring in 1977. She played the
organ at Lueders United Methodist Church and later sang in the
choir at St. John's United Methodist Church in Stamford, where
she was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School Class.
Survivors include one daughter, Suzanne Stephens of Oklahoma
City; one grandson, Scot Stephens of Oklahoma City; and many nieces
and nephews.
The Rev. Paul 'Frank' Francis Zimmermann, C.M.
NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Rev. Paul "Frank" Francis
Zimmermann, C.M., 83, former pastor of Catholic churches in Merkel
and Sweetwater, died Tuesday in a local care center.
A wake service will be at 8 p.m. Friday in St. Stephen's Catholic
Church. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial
will be in St. Vincent Cemetery, directed by Bultman Funeral Home.
A memorial Mass will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Our Mother of Mercy
Catholic Church in Merkel.
Rev. Zimmermann was born in Lake Charles, La., and graduated
from St. Mary's Seminary in Perryville, Mo. He also earned a master's
degree from St. Louis University. He was ordained into the priesthood
in 1939 and was a member of Congregation of the Missions (Vincentian
Fathers). He was a professor of Latin, Greek and church history
at St. Louis Prep Seminary in St. Louis from 1939-58 and then
taught Latin, religion and history until 1964 at Assumption Seminary
in San Antonio. In Montebello, Calif., he was a Latin and religion
professor from 1964-67 at St. Vincent's Seminary. He also taught
Latin and religion at St. John's Seminary in Kansas City, Mo.
from 1967-69. Moving to Beaumont in 1969, he was a professor of
Latin, religion and history at St. Vincent's Seminary for 11 years.
In 1980, he and his brother, the Rev. Lee Zimmermann, moved
to the Big Country to become pastors of Holy Family Catholic Church
in Sweetwater. Two years later, they went to Merkel, where Rev.
Frank Zimmermann became pastor of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic
Church, a mission of Holy Family in Sweetwater. After serving
the Lord for a total of 105 years, the Zimmermanns retired to
New Orleans in 1993.
Survivors include two brothers, Joseph Vincent Zimmermann of
Lake Charles, La., and the Rev. Lee Bernard Zimmermann of New
Orleans; and several nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth Edna 'Aunt Lizzie' Burks
CROSS PLAINS -- Elizabeth Edna "Aunt Lizzie" Burks,
100, lifelong area resident, died Tuesday in a Stephenville nursing
home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Allen-Korzenewski Funeral
Home Chapel in Abilene with the Rev. Garland Wallace officiating.
Burial will be in Burnt Branch Cemetery in Callahan County.
Miss Burks was born in Cross Plains and attended Tarleton University
in Stephenville. She was a homemaker and also taught school.
Survivors include one sister, Emma Johnson of Stephenville;
and 32 nieces and nephews.
Ruby Rena Bell Campbell
CROSS PLAINS -- Ruby Rena Bell Campbell, 97, formerly of Fort
Worth, died Tuesday in a Mineral Wells nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Rose Hill Cemetery
in Fort Worth with the Rev. Mike Simmons officiating, directed
by Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home of Mineral Wells.
Mrs. Campbell was born in Fort Worth and was a homemaker. She
formerly lived in Perrin. She was a member of Perrin First Baptist
Church and was the widow of William Earl Campbell, whom she married
in 1917 in Dallas.
Survivors include one son, Charles S. Campbell of Lumberton;
two daughters, Ruby Earlene Jones of Palestine and Peggy Ruth
Brock of Cross Plains; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;
three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

HASKELL -- Barbara Trussell, 62, died Wednesday at her home.

COMANCHE -- Grady O. Ripley, 78, died Wednesday in a local
hospital. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Oakwood

Luz Gonzales Subia
BIG SPRING -- Luz Gonzales Subia, 97, died Wednesday at her
home. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today in Nalley-Pickle
& Welch Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel. Mass will be at 10 a.m.
Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

SNYDER -- Laura Gertrude Greenfield, 84, died Monday in a local
hospital after a brief illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday

Wiley Theo 'W.T.' Culpepper
DUBLIN -- Wiley Theo "W.T." Culpepper, 86, died Tuesday
in a Stephenville hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in
Harrell Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.
Celia Garcia Barrientez
SNYDER -- Celia Garcia Barrientez, 88, died Tuesday in a local
hospital after a lengthy illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday
in Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel.
Sonia Corona Gamez
SWEETWATER -- Sonia Corona Gamez, 45, died Wednesday at her
daughter's home in Snyder. The body will be cremated and a memorial
service will be at later date. Arrangements are being made by
Wright-Colonial Funeral Home of Snyder.
Jack Douglas McCain
SWEETWATER -- Jack Douglas McCain, 47, of Palestine and formerly
of Sweetwater, died Monday in Palestine. Graveside services will
be at 10 a.m. Friday in Garden of Memories Cemetery, directed
by McCoy Funeral Home.
