Nasaria Martinez Ramos
STAMFORD -- Nasaria Martinez Ramos, 75, died Sunday in an Abilene
hospital.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today in Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Ann's
Catholic Church with Father Michael Melcher officiating. Burial
will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
A lifetime resident of the Stamford area, Mrs. Ramos was born
in Beeville and married Esteban Martinez in 1938. She married
Lalo Ramos in 1975. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Ann's.
Survivors include her husband of Stamford; two sons, Joe Martinez
of Avoca and Steve Martinez Jr. of Abilene; three daughters, Lupe
Moreno and Terri Sauceda, both of Abilene, and Janie Martinez
of Yuma, Ariz.; two brothers, Alex Zambrano of Mathis and Comodoro
Zambrano of Dinuba, Calif.; two sisters, Dorothy Garcia of Sinton
and Feliciana Zambrano of Mathis; two stepsons and three stepdaughters;
22 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
H.D. 'Hoss' Alexander
MUNDAY -- H.D. "Hoss" Alexander, 76, died Saturday
in a Knox City Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Gillespie Baptist Church
with Dr. H.B. Graves officiating and the Rev. Ross Anderson assisting.
Burial will be in Johnson Memorial Cemetery directed by McCauley-Smith
Funeral Home.
A farmer, Mr. Alexander was born in Weinert and served in the
Army Air Corps. He married Jean Scott in Weinert in 1950, and
the couple moved from Haskell County to Knox County in 1961.
Survivors include his wife of Munday; one son, Waymon Alexander
of Munday; two daughters, Brenda Clark of Abilene and Judy Hertel
of Lubbock; three sisters, Ima Stewart of Haskell, Rene Vojkufka
of Weinert and Jona Caddell of Haskell; and five grandchildren.
Inez Newquist
STAMFORD -- Inez Newquist, 86, died Saturday in a Stamford
nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Bethel Lutheran Church
east of Stamford, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange,
in Abilene.
The mother of Don Newquist, former chairman of the United States
International Trade Commission, Mrs. Newquist grew up in Santo
and attended North Texas State University. She was a graduate
of Stamford Sanitarium School of Nursing and Robert B. Green School
of Nursing in San Antonio. She married William McClish in 1930
in Santo. He died in 1931, and she married John Edward Newquist
in 1942 in Stamford. He died in 1968. A registered nurse, she
worked in Stamford Memorial Hospital for 50 years before retiring
at the age of 72. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran.
Survivors include her son of Houston and Washington, D.C.

Bill Hoppe
WINTERS -- Bill Hoppe, 90, died Sunday at home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Winters Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. James Hanson officiating. Burial will be
in Lakeview Cemetery, directed by Winters Funeral Home.
Mr. Hoppe was born in Runnels County, where he lived all his
life. He married Josie Spill in 1931 in Winters. He was a farmer,
a stock farmer and a livestock brand inspector for Runnels, Taylor
and Coleman counties for many years. He was a lifetime member
of St. John's Lutheran Church, an Oddfellow and an avid supporter
of West Texas Rehabilitation Center.
Survivors include his wife of Winters; one daughter, Elaine
Miller of Winters; three brothers, Wilkins Hoppe of Ballinger,
Calvin Hoppe of Crews and Glenn Hoppe of Winters; one sister,
Leona Voss of Sweetwater; three grandchildren; one stepgrandson
and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.
Mabel Boyd
GUSTINE -- Mabel E. Boyd, 92, died Saturday in a Brownwood
hospital
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Gustine First Baptist
Church with Dr. Ray Harvey and the Rev. Calvin Gray officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Gustine directed by Comanche
Funeral Home of Comance.
A retired schoolteacher, Mrs. Boyd was born in Ballinger. She
was a member of First Baptist Church in Gustine and a charter
member of Comanche County Retired Teachers Association. She served
on the boards of Gustine Nursing Home and Gustine Community Center
and Museum.
She married Arbie Nathan Boyd in 1925 in Abilene. After a short
honeymoon in Stamford, Arbie returned to Gustine to help build
the Gustine school building. Mabel returned by train a few days
later, and the next year they taught school in Sanco near Robert
Lee. Without a car, the couple lived on Arbie's salary while Mabel
saved her earnings during the seven-month school term. At the
end of the year, the Boyds bought a brand-new car, a Model A Ford,
for $840.
Survivors include one son, Gary Boyd of Coleman; one grandson,
two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. today in the funeral
home.
Thelma Rose Watson
SWEETWATER -- Thelma Rose Watson, 88, died Saturday in a local
hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Alameda Cemetery
near Eastland, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Watson was born in Comanche County and married Lon Datus
Watson in 1925 in Eastland. A homemaker, she was a member of the
Church of Christ. She moved to Sweetwater in 1992.
Survivors include four daughters, Willie Hobson of Sweetwater,
Pat Johnson of Groesbeck, Bernice Williamson of Tomball and Adell
Mills of Ingleside; three sons, William Haner of Mexico, Johnny
Steubing of Franklin and Larry Walker of Houston; two sisters,
Lucy Largent of West Branch, Mich., and Myrtle Kendall of Grove
City, Ohio; one brother, J.W. Dugan of San Angelo; 11 grandchildren;
28 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Irene Cadena
BROWNWOOD -- Irene Cadena, 75, died Saturday in a Brownwood
hospital.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today in Davis-Morris Funeral Home
Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist
Church with the Rev. Richard Ivy officiating. Burial will be in
Greenleaf Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of Brownwood, Mrs. Cadena was born in Seguin.
She married Juan Cadena in Brownwood in 1938. She was a retired
nurses' aide and a member of Sunset Baptist Mission Church.
Survivors include her husband of Brownwood; seven daughters,
Margaret Rubealcabe of Dallas and Delia Murray, Mary Villalpando,
Virginia Delarose, Dora Arrelano, Rosalie Pizarro, and Helen Johnson,
all of Brownwood; five sons, Johnny Cadena, Alfred Cadena, Joe
Cadena, Ralph Cadena and Jesse Cadena, all of Brownwood; one brother,
Frank Gil of California; one sister, Leonora Canelo of California;
48 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;
five half-brothers and sisters and several nieces and nephews.
Pauline Beatrice Allen
GORMAN -- Pauline Beatrice Allen, 85, died Saturday in a Gorman
nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Higginbotham Funeral
Home Chapel with Scott Sheppard officiating. Burial will be in
Gorman Cemetery.
Mrs. Allen was born in Merkel and married Othor L. Allen in
Eastland in 1940. She worked for Shell Bros. and Birdsong Peanut
Company for 16 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Bazil Byron Gibson of Gorman and
Billy Ray Gibson of DeSoto; two sisters, Verona Taylor and Bonnie
Cox, both of Gorman; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Robert Taylor
Robert Taylor, 81, died Sunday in a local hospital. Services
are pending with Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Joseph Brown
Joseph L. Brown, 83, died Sunday in a local hospital. Services

WICHITA FALLS -- Myrtle Simpson Everett, 103, formerly of Throckmorton,
died Saturday in a Wichita Falls hospital. Services are pending

ALBANY -- Lawrence L. Badley, 88, died Saturday in an Abilene

HASKELL -- Pauline Terry, 79, died Sunday in a Haskell hospital.

Cecil Boren
SNYDER -- Cecil J. Boren, 77, died Saturday in a Lubbock hospital.
