Claude 'Bud' Youngblood
Claude "Bud" Youngblood, 78, died Friday in a local
hospital.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 9 a.m. Monday
in Masonic Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Heinze officiating, directed
by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Youngblood was born in Graham and lived in Abilene most
of his life. He was a World War II veteran and was a body shop
worker for the city of Abilene until retiring. He was a member
of Elm Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Claudette Youngblood of Abilene
and Jeannette Brunt of El Paso; three sisters, Alene Pugh of El
Paso, Polly Passmore of Buffalo Gap and Geraldine Keesee of Abilene;
nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Edna Leola Davis
Edna Leola Davis, 87, died Friday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil
Garden of Memories with Chaplain James Teel officiating, directed
by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Mrs. Davis was born in Olney and grew up in Graham. She lived
in Stamford for many years and was a homemaker. She moved to Abilene
in 1990 from San Angelo. She was a Baptist and was the widow of
Robert Lee Davis.
Survivors include two sons, Herbert Wesley Davis of Grape Creek
and Melvin Wayne Davis of San Angelo; two daughters, Edna Jean
Cooper of Stamford and Jewel Claudine Cardell of Abilene; one
sister, Ora Fleetwood of Breckenridge; 15 grandchildren; and 26
great-grandchildren.

Joseph Lavine
KEESEVILLE, N.Y. -- Joseph R. Lavine, 81, formerly of Abilene,
died Thursday in a Plattsburgh, N.Y. hospital.
The body will be cremated. A memorial service will be at 6
p.m. Tuesday in Peru Community Church with the Rev. Kenneth Parker
officiating. Arrangements were made by Hamilton Funeral Home.
Mr. Lavine was born in Worcester, Mass., where he worked for
Norton Co. for more than 27 years until retiring. He married Geneva
"GiGi" Walker in 1969 and volunteered with the Brookfield,
Mass. Police Department for several years. He was employed by
Jim Tatum Motors in Abilene from 1980-90.
Survivors include his wife, of Keeseville; three sons, Bill
Lavine of Houston, Jeff Longino of Corpus Christi and Dave Longino
of Peru, N.Y.; two daughters, JoAnne Lavine of Houston and Marge
Mochak of Sitka, Alaska; and 12 grandchildren.

James 'J.J.' Johnston Jr.
FORT WORTH -- James "J.J." Johnston Jr., 81, brother
of a Cross Plains resident, died Friday in a local hospital.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today in Alonzo Funeral
Home Chapel.
Mr. Johnston was born in Abilene and served with the U.S. Navy
during World War II. He worked as a welder for Lockheed for 31
years and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Johnston of Fort Worth;
two sons, John Johnston of Fort Worth and Jim Johnston of Laredo;
one stepson; one brother, Dan Johnston of Cross Plains; one sister,
Faye Woods of Fort Worth; and two grandchildren.
Sharon Pool
ANDREWS -- Sharon Pool, 35, relative of three Big Country residents,
died July 21 at her home.
Services were July 24 in Means Memorial United Methodist Church
with the Rev. A. Dean Kelm officiating. Burial was in Andrews
North Cemetery, directed by McNett Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pool was born in Midland and lived in Andrews most of
her life. She graduated from Andrews High School in 1981. She
married Terry Pool in 1981 in Andrews and worked at Andrews National
Bank for nine years as a teller. She was involved with the Andrews
Youth Girls Softball and Andrews 4-H Adult Leadership programs
and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Andrews; three daughters,
Courtney Pool, Carly Pool and Cami Pool, all of Andrews; her parents,
Roy and Shirley Springer of Andrews; two sisters, Kathryn Hughes
of Big Spring and Donna Miller of Abilene; one brother, Jimmy
Springer of Midland; and her grandmothers, Sophie Wenzel of Andrews
and Myrlie Springer of Dublin.

Robbie Wimsatt
COLEMAN -- Robbie Wimsatt, 72, died Saturday in an Abilene
hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Stevens Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Helen McIver officiating. Burial will be
in Fairview Cemetery in Grosvenor.
Mrs. Wimsatt was born in Hamlin and graduated from Breckenridge
High School. She married Ellis E. Wimsatt Sr. in 1948 in Midland
and moved to Coleman in 1965. She lived in Abilene and Arlington
before returning to Coleman in 1972. She worked as a comptroller
for Central Texas Opportunities in Coleman for 10 years and was
a bookkeeper, since 1980, for Belle Rozzlle Agency. She moved
to Taylor County six weeks ago and was a member of Trinity United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Baird; one son, Gene Wimsatt
of Tuscola; one daughter, Belinda Archie of Tuscola; one brother,
Allen McWhorter of Brady; one sister, Belle Rozzlle of Coleman;
four grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew.
Florence Ethel Richey
BROWNWOOD -- Florence Ethel Richey, 93, died Thursday in a
local hospital.
Graveside services were Friday in Eastlawn Memorial Park with
the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Richey was born in Hamilton and was a homemaker. She moved
to Brownwood in 1936. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge for 45
years and First Baptist Church, and was the widow of Emmett F.
Richey, whom she married in 1920 in Hamilton.
Survivors include two sons, A.F. "Red" Richey and
A.K. Richey, both of Rogers, Ark.; one daughter, Betty Hicks of
San Angelo; one sister, Ruth Lester of Lampasas; five grandchildren;
and seven great-grandchildren.
Alan Meredith
ALBANY -- Alan Meredith, 71, died Friday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Christian Church
with the Rev. David Mallory officiating. Burial with military
honors will be in Albany Cemetery, directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral
Home.
Mr. Meredith retired after a 30-year career in the U.S. Army
in 1974. He was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Morlene Meredith of Albany; four
sons, Jack Meredith of Fort Worth, Jeffery Meredith of Mesquite,
Ross Meredith of Stephenville and Terry Young of Bellaire, Md.;
two daughters, Jill Ward of Stephenville and Kim George of Albany;
two sisters, Madge Glass of Monahans and Agie Curnutt of Waco;
one brother, Jack H. Meredith of Missouri City; and nine grandchildren.
Joe Maria Robles
BROWNWOOD -- Joe Maria Robles, 45, lifelong local resident,
died Saturday in a local hospital.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Davis-Morris Funeral
Home Chapel. Mass will be at 4 p.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic
Church with Msgr. Benedict Zientek officiating. Burial will be
in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mr. Robles was born in Brownwood and worked as a cook. He was
a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Jesse Robles Jr. and Roy Robles,
both of Brownwood; four aunts and two uncles; and several nieces
and nephews.
John Calvin 'Buddy' Weeks
DUBLIN -- John Calvin "Buddy" Weeks, 87, of San Antonio
and formerly of Comyn, died Saturday in a San Antonio hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Harrell Funeral Home Chapel
with the Rev. Don Longoria officiating. Burial will be in Comyn
Cemetery.
Mr. Weeks was born in Comyn and married Bernice Shelton in
1978 in Edna Hill. He was a retired farmer and was a member of
Edna Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Darolyn "Jean" Worte
and Beverly Estep, both of San Antonio; two sisters, Millie Sewell
of Fort Worth and Reecie McKnight of Richardson; two great-grandchildren;
and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Agatha Lockaby
BRECKENRIDGE -- Agatha Lockaby, 89, formerly of Breckenridge,
died Friday in a Dallas hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Morehart Mortuary Chapel
with the Rev. Joe Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge
Cemetery.
Mrs. Lockaby was born in Oklahoma and graduated from Breckenridge
High School. She worked as a waitress at the Burch Hotel and moved
to Snyder in the 1950s and Grand Prairie in 1995. She was a Baptist
and was the widow of George A. Lockaby.
Survivors include four sisters, LaJean Posey, Janie Parkhurst
and Louise Donmeyer, all of Grand Prairie, and Pat Balliew of
Lubbock; and many nieces and nephews.
Jonathan 'J.B.' Ashby
Jonathan "J.B." Ashby, 80, died Saturday in a local
hospital. Services are pending with Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home,
5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Jesse Allen Wyatt
Jesse Allen Wyatt, 74, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
