Barbara Sue Johnson
Barbara Sue Johnson, 37, formerly of Hamlin, died Sunday from
injuries received in an automobile accident.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Hamlin Cemetery,
directed by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.
Ms. Johnson was born in Stamford and graduated from high school
in Oakland, Calif. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church
in Hamlin.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Ray Brown of Hamlin;
three daughters, Antoinette Vincent of San Jose, Calif., Owyanzee
Raychael Brown of Tulsa, Okla., and Dakeisha Brown of Reno, Nev.;
one son, Charles Ray Brown Jr. of Abilene; one sister, Owyanzee
Mason of San Jose, Calif.; and four brothers, Raymond Johnson
and Willie Johnson, both of Louisiana, Richard Johnson of Dallas
and Jerry Johnson of Hamlin.
The family will be at 1250 Yeomans Road.
E. Decherd 'Dech' Barnes
DALLAS -- E. Decherd "Dech" Barnes, 66, formerly
of Abilene, died Monday in a local hospital from congenital heart
disease.
The body was cremated and no services are planned.
Mr. Barnes was born in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High
School in 1948 and McMurry College, now McMurry University, in
1953. He worked as a manufacturer's representative and operated
a showroom at the Dallas Trade Mart. He was a member of Episcopal
Church of the Heavenly Rest in Abilene.
Survivors include several cousins and aunts.

Lee Flowers
HAMLIN -- Lee Flowers, 71, employed by Pied Piper Feed Mills
since 1953, died Monday from injuries received in an automobile
accident three miles northwest of Anson on U.S. Highway 83.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Church of the Nazarene
with the Revs. Marshall Stewart, Billy Weaver and Jimmie Spalding
officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery, directed
by Foster-Adams Funeral Home.
Mr. Flowers was born in Brown County and attended school in
Cross Plains. He served with the U.S. Army in Japan during World
War II and moved to the Hamlin area in 1946 from Cross Plains.
He was the widower of Marie Flowers. He married Thelma Meeks in
1957 in Aspermont and owned Big Country Cleaners in Stamford since
1987. He was a former Hamlin volunteer firefighter.
Survivors include his wife, of Hamlin; one daughter, Gayleta
Shaull of Hamlin; two sons, John L. Flowers of Azle and Donnie
Smith of Hamlin; four sisters, Blanche Dawkins Ray of Abilene,
Stella Ingram of Aspermont, and Norine Castle and Corine Spalding,
both of Hamlin; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Felipa Sanchez Garza
ANSON -- Felipa Sanchez Garza, 76, died Wednesday at her home
in Jones County.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Lawrence-Adams Funeral
Home Chapel. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Michael's Catholic
Church with the Rev. Oscar Del Rio officiating. Burial will be
in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Garza was born in Bishop and married Seferino Garza in
1942 in Mission. She was a homemaker and moved to Anson in 1968.
She was a Catholic.
Survivors include her husband, of Anson; five sons, Rey Garza
of Austin, David Garza of Ralls, Carlos Garza of Clyde and Ramiro
Garza and Juan Garza, both of Anson; four daughters, Lupe Ramos
of Stamford, Alvesa Ramirez and Adela Alarcon, both of Abilene,
and Herminia Larios of Austin; 31 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mauda Lee Farrar Ross
COMANCHE -- Mauda Lee Farrar Ross, 97, died Tuesday in a local
nursing home.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Comanche Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Sherl Taylor officiating. Burial will be
in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Ross was born in Newburg. She was a Baptist and was the
widow of Tula Calvin Ross, whom she married in 1919.
Survivors include one son, Freddie Ross of Comanche; one daughter,
Wanda Curbo of Houston; one brother, William Farrar of Comanche;
seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.
Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Amy Cawley Davis
RISING STAR -- Amy Cawley Davis, 88, lifelong local resident,
died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Rising Star First Baptist
Church. Burial will be in Rising Star Cemetery, directed by Higginbotham
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis was born in Rising Star and graduated from Eastland
High School. She was a farmer and rancher in Okra for many years.
She was a longtime Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church
and was the widow of Oral Davis, whom she married in 1930.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Davis of Rising Star; two
sisters, Villa Gregg and Nona Mae Davis, both of Port Neches;
three brothers, James T. Cawley of Silsbee, Paul Cawley of Rising
Star and Aaron Cawley of Arlington; four step grandchildren; two
step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Roswell 'Rod' Hamil
BRECKENRIDGE -- Roswell A. "Rod" Hamil, 80, died
Wednesday at his home.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Christian
Church with Charles Kuhn officiating, directed by Melton Funeral
Home.
Mr. Hamil was born in Breckenridge, where he graduated from
high school, and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Billie J. "Bill" Scales in 1945 in Stephens
County. He worked as a measurement technician in the Midland district
for Gulf Oil Refining Co. for 35 years until retiring in 1981.
He was a deacon, elder and board chairman at First Christian churches
in Kermit and Breckenridge, and also was a member of the Meridian
Sunday School Class at First Christian in Breckenridge.
Survivors include his wife, of Breckenridge; one daughter,
Cathy Curry of Breckenridge; one brother, Ralph L. "Gabby"
Hamil of Breckenridge; three sisters, Beatrice Thorpe of Breckenridge,
Juanita Stewart of Arlington and Martha Floyd of Midland; and
one grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, First Christian
Church or Meals on Wheels and left at the funeral home.
Hazel Palone
SWEETWATER -- Hazel Palone, 84, of Austin and formerly of Sweetwater,
died Tuesday in an Austin nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Cate-Spencer & Trent
Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Joel McCoy officiating. Burial will
be in Sweetwater Cemetery.
Mrs. Palone was born in Rosebud and worked as a bookkeeper
for Lawrence Management Service. She moved to Austin in 1996.
She was a member of Sweetwater First Baptist Church and was the
widow of Albert Palone, whom she married in 1950 in Klamath Falls,
Ore.
Survivors include one daughter, Mae Beth Palone of Austin;
two sisters, Beth Densmore of Sweetwater and Tula Mae Pinkard
of Durant, Okla.; one brother, Bryson Paddock of Austin; and many
nieces and nephews.

LaDelle Sims Pollock Gray
BROWNWOOD -- LaDelle Sims Pollock Gray, 78, lifelong local
resident, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Union Presbyterian Church
with Dr. Norbert Peil officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf
Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gray was born in San Saba and was a retired youth supervisor
of Brownwood State School. She was a member of Union Presbyterian
Church and was the widow of Eddie Pollock, whom she married in
1946 in Reno, Nev.; and Jessie Coleman Gray, whom she married
in 1970 in Llano.
Survivors include one daughter, Janee Pollock of Waco; one
son, Bruce "Gopher" Pollock of Brownwood; three stepdaughters,
Maxine Cope of Coleman, and Lois Berry and Carolyn Bluhm, both
of Big Spring; two brothers, L.R. Sims of Clear Lake Oaks, Calif.,
and E.R. Sims of Fair Oaks, Calif.; one sister, Mary Matienzo
of Phoenix, Ariz.; nine step grandchildren; 13 step great-grandchildren;
and two step great-great-grandchildren.
Rex Hatton
RANGER -- Rex Hatton, 55, died Tuesday in an Eastland hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Ranger First Baptist
Church with Ronnie Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Bullock
Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Hatton graduated from Ranger High School in 1961 and married
Jo Ann Wortham in 1967 in Ranger. He worked for the U.S. Postal
Service and, for several years, the Texas Department of Transportation.
He then returned to the Ranger Post Office, where he was employed
for 25 years. He served in the National Guard. He was a baseball
coach for 20 years and was a past president of the Ranger Booster
Club. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, of Ranger; two sons, Ryan Hatton
of Glen Rose and Todd Hatton of San Marcos; and three brothers,
Billy Tom Hatton, Kenneth Hatton and Royce Hatton, all of Ranger.
James Weldon Porter
James Weldon Porter, 68, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services are pending with Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Rannel Conway Pavlovsky
SNYDER -- Rannel Conway Pavlovsky, 61, died Wednesday in a
local hospital. Services are pending with Wright-Colonial Funeral
Home.
Ethel Adele Rice Hickson
BIG SPRING -- Ethel Ethel Adele Rice Hickson, 92, of Rowlett
and formerly of Big Spring, died Monday in Rowlett. Services will
be at 10 a.m. today in First Church of God, directed by Nalley-Pickle
& Welch Funeral Home.
Martha Eoff
BLANKET -- Martha Eoff, 74, died Tuesday in a Comanche nursing
home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Blanket First Baptist
Church, directed by Comanche Funeral Home.
Harriett Cox
BIG SPRING -- Harriett J. Cox, 80, died Friday in a local hospital
after a one-year illness. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m.
today in Andrews Cemetery, directed by Myers & Smith Funeral
Home.
Esta Favors Celli
STEPHENVILLE -- Esta Favors Celli, 90, died Sunday in a local
nursing home. Mass will be said at 9 a.m. Friday in St. Brendans
Catholic Church, directed by Lacy Funeral Home.
Joe 'Che-Che' Puga
BIG SPRING -- Joe "Che-Che" Puga, 41, of Houston
and formerly of Big Spring, died Monday in a Houston hospital.
