Clarence Price
Clarence C. Price, 90, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in North's Funeral Home Memorial
Chapel, 4002 Buffalo Gap Road, with the Rev. David Bartley officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be in Tuscola Cemetery.
Born in Callahan County, Mr. Price grew up in Dallas. He married
Opal Pearl Davis in 1931 and served 24 years in the United States
Air Force. He was a foster parent for 20 years with Lee and Beulah
Moore Children's Home in El Paso and the Juvenile Detention Center
in Odessa. He moved from El Paso to Abilene in 1974, and was a
member of Immanuel Baptist Church, the Retired Officers Association
and Masonic Lodge #8 in San Antonio.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Larry Price
and Clarence Price Jr., both of Houston; and several grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Price will lie in state at the funeral home's downtown
location, 242 Orange, until this evening.
Nellie Edna Roberson
BRECKENRIDGE -- Nellie Edna Roberson, 89, died Friday in a
local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Breckenridge
Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Monk officiating, directed by Melton
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Roberson was born in Stephens County and married Conan
Doyle Roberson in Walters, Okla., in 1932. She was a sales clerk
for J.C. Penny and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Clary of Breckenridge;
two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be sent to Breckenridge Senior Citizens Center,
care of the funeral home.
Janice Nichols Pearce
BROWNWOOD -- Janice Nichols Pearce, 54, of Fort Worth, formerly
of Brownwood, died Thursday in a Dallas hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Union Presbyterian Church
in Brownwood with the Rev. Richard Hetzel and Dr. Norbert Peil
officiating. Burial will be in Winchell Cemetery in Winchell,
directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Born in Brady, Mrs. Pearce lived most of her life in Brownwood
before moving to Fort Worth in 1984. She graduated from Brownwood
High School in 1961. She worked for Northrop-Grumman Aircraft
in Grand Prairie and was a Presbyterian.
Survivors include two sons, Peter Pearce of Plano and Paul
Pearce of Brewster, N.Y.; two sisters, Jean Perkins and Betty
Wiginton, both of Brownwood; two brothers, Roland Nichols of Early
and Wayne Nichols of Crowley; four grandchildren; and many aunts,
uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to the Arthritis Foundation, 1330 W.
Peachtree, Atlanta, Ga. 30309, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital
research.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Joe Winter
DE SOTO -- Joe M. Winter, 84, died Saturday in Mesquite.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Cold Springs Church of
Christ in Lancaster with the Rev. R.H. Hussey officiating. Burial
will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, directed by West/Hurtt
Funeral Home.
Mr. Winter, a De Soto resident since 1985, lived in Arlington
and Grand Prairie before moving to De Soto. His wife, Jewell Faye
Winter, died in May.
Survivors include one son, W.J. Winter of Arlington; two daughters,
Sheila Higginbotham of Indianapolis and Sharon Bogle of Grand
Prairie; one brother, Jim H. Winter of Bowie; one sister, Mary
Nell McCoy of Haskell; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Donald Jean 'Don' Sager
LAKE BROWNWOOD -- Donald Jean "Don" Sager, 71, died
Thursday in a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Heartland Funeral Home
Chapel. His body will be cremated and burial will be in Kansas.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Sager was born in Clifton, Kan.
He moved to Brown County from Kansas in the 1970s and worked as
a painter, carpenter and mechanic. He was a member of the Christian
Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Sager of Brownwood, Keith
Sager of Tennessee, Mike Frye of Kansas and Ron Linenberger of
Kansas; one daughter, Karen Kamps of Wisconsin; two sisters, Lillian
Rosella Sager and Wanda Linenberger, both of Kansas; three grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.
Glenn 'Champ' Champion
CROSS PLAINS -- Glenn "Champ" Champion, 64, died
Friday in an Odessa hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Higginbotham Funeral Home
Chapel with Larry Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Cottonwood
Cemetery.
A construction worker, Mr. Champion was born in Callahan County.
He married Ethel Snyder in Roscoe in 1958. He was a member of
the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Cross Plains; three sons, Glenn
Dale Champion Jr. of Potosi, Monty Wade Champion of Stephenville
and Calvin Lewis of Cross Plains; two brothers, Robert Lee Champion
of Denver City and Claude Leo Champion of Abilene; one sister,
Viola Turnbough of Denver City; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Mary Avila
BROWNWOOD -- Mary Avila, infant daughter of Jorge and Enedelia
Avila, was stillborn Tuesday in a Brownwood hospital.
Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church
with Monsignor Benedict Zientek officiating. Rosary will be at
7 p.m. today in Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be
in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Survivors include her parents, of Brownwood; one brother, Jose
Avila of Brownwood; two sisters, Samantha Avila and Ruby Avila,
of Brownwood; her paternal grandfather, Feliz Hernandez of Brownwood;
her maternal grandparents, Gonzalo and Guadalupe Mares of Brownwood;
and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Iva Sue Adams
Iva Sue Adams, 90, died Saturday in a local nursing home. Services
are pending with Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Charles 'Charlie' Morris
Charles E. "Charlie" Morris, 84, died Saturday in
a Big Spring hospital. Services are pending with Elliott-Hamil
Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Lena Lorene (Weldon) Uzzell
OPLIN -- Lena Lorene Uzzell, 81, of Hartville, Miss., formerly
of Oplin, died Saturday in a Springfield, Miss., hospital. Services
are pending with Bailey Funeral Home of Clyde.
Jamie Burns Bennett
BIG SPRING -- Jamie Burns Bennett, 85, died Friday in Houston.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Trinity Memorial
Park, directed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Ellen Pittman
COMANCHE -- Ellen A. Pittman, 69, died Friday in a Houston
hospital. Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in Comanche Funeral
