Today's Obituaries (Aug. 17, 1998)

Iva Sue Adams

Iva Sue Adams, 90, died Saturday at a local nursing home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Elmwood Memorial Park with Dr. Elbert Peak officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mrs. Adams was born in Taylor County and grew up in Abilene, Wylie, Caps and Buffalo Gap. She attended Tuscola and Abilene high schools. She worked for Lankford's for nine years and as a practical nurse at Abilene State School for 10 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 30, 300 Club Biblical Faith Ministry and Faith Baptist Church. She was the widow of Victor B. Adams and Lonnie Sales.

Survivors include a grandson, a great-grandson and a great-great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to Meals of Wheels, P.O. Box 903, Abilene 79604; or 300 Club Biblical Faith Ministry, 3300 S. 14th, Abilene 79605.

Arttie Freeman Polk

Arttie Freeman Polk, 84, died Saturday at a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Woodrow Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Polk was born in Rains County and lived in Abilene most of her life. She attended school in Noodle, Truby and Buffalo Gap. She was a homemaker and a member of Oakland Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Malone and Winell Townzen, both of Abilene; one son, Glen Freeman of Abilene; four sisters, Dessie Kirk of Abilene, Gladys Franklin of Clyde, Eda Hester of Angleton and Mary Cook of Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be at 4409 Flintrock before and after services.

W.L. 'Dub' Campbell

BRECKENRIDGE - W.L. "Dub" Campbell, 77, died Sunday at a local nursing home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Street Church of Christ with Jim Cox officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Willow Cemetery in Haskell, directed by Melton Funeral Home.

Mr. Campbell was born in Tishomingo, Okla., and was a farmer and a gager for West Texas Utilities. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Elliott Street Church of Christ and past director of Breckenridge Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of Rogers Cox Post 221, American Legion of Haskell. He married Effie Slovak in 1982 at Possum Kingdom Lake.

Survivors include his wife, of Breckenridge; one brother, O'Dell Campbell of Haltom City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eunice Cayce

BROWNWOOD - Eunice Cayce, 80, of Granbury and formerly of Brownwood, died Sunday at a Fort Worth hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Paul McClung officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery in Midland.

Mrs. Cayce was born in Navarro County and was a retired bookkeeper for Woolworth Co., where she worked 20 years. She was a member of Suez Nomads, the bridge club and 4th and Stewart Street Church of Christ. She married Ben Cayce in 1972 in Abilene.

Survivors include her husband, of Granbury; two sons, Conway Crawford of Midland and Kenneth Cayce of Arlington; two daughters, Melba June McKandles and Marsha Kay Blanck, both of Midland; two brothers, Preston Vest of Smyer and R.C. Vest of Stanton; one sister, Wanda Morrow of Brownwood; eight grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30-8 p.m. today.

Martha Payne

COMANCHE - Martha Payne, 73, died Saturday at her home. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel.

John Cline

BIG SPRING - John W. Cline, 65, died Saturday at his home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel.

Adelaido 'Lalo' Netro

SWEETWATER - Adelaido "Lalo" Netro, 52, died Sunday at a local hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.

Jewel Webb

BIG SPRING - Jewel Webb, 91, died Saturday in Big Spring. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive Memorial Park, directed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

Rev. Edd King

STEPHENVILLE - The Rev. Edd C. King, 83, died Saturday at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lacy Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Arthur 'Art' Lantzy

Arthur H. "Art" Lantzy, 53, died Saturday in Abilene. Services are pending with Elliott-Hamill Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy. 277 South.

Marshall 'Gus' Meyers

COMANCHE - Marshall "Gus" Meyers, 89, of Keene died Sunday at a Keene nursing home. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel.

Frances Centner

MERKEL - Frances Centner, 75, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital. Services are pending with Starbuck Funeral Home.

Eva Alcantar

BIG SPRING - Eva Alcantar, 62, died Sunday at a Lubbock hospital. Services are pending with Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

Pearl Thompson

COLEMAN - Pearl Thompson, 91, died Sunday at a local nursing home. Services are pending with Stevens Funeral Home.

Terry Joe Pickett

COLEMAN - Terry Joe Pickett, 42, died sunday at a local hospital. Services are pending with Stevens Funeral Home.
