Pauline Mobley

Pauline Mobley, 77, died Monday in a local hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Tuscola Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Baird officiating, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.

Mrs. Mobley was born in Gunsight and moved to Tuscola in 1950 from Caps, and to Abilene in 1968. She worked at the Abilene State School as a dormitory clerk for 18 years until retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2012 Ladies Auxiliary and Abundant Life Ministries and was the widow of Leslie M. Mobley, whom she married in 1945 in Abilene.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Riddle and Joyce Reeves, both of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; two sons, J.C. Rhodes of Goldsboro and Harold "Butch" Rhodes of Centerville, Wash.; one sister, Irene Kilgrove of San Angelo; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Hendrick Home for Children, 2758 Jeanette, Abilene 79602.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Flora Brown Wooten

Flora Brown Wooten, 94, died Saturday in Abilene.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Kathryn Boren officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Wooten was born in Red River County near Detroit, Texas, and grew up in McCulloch County near Richland Springs. She attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood and taught school, before 1949, in Richland Springs, Brady, Feria, Brownsville and San Antonio. She lived in San Antonio and near Laredo before moving to Abilene many years ago. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Abilene Woman's Club and St. Paul United Methodist Church and was the widow of Horace W. Wooten, whom she married in 1949 in Waco.

Survivors include one stepdaughter, Sarah Wooten Roller of Niceville, Fla.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

Del Green

Del T. Green, 69, died Monday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. K.R. White officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, directed by Curtis-Starks Funeral Home, 542 E.N. 7th.

Mrs. Green was born in Brenham and moved to Taylor County more than 50 years ago. She graduated from Abilene High School and Prairie View College. She worked for Mental Health/Mental Retardation until becoming ill and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Johnny "Maurice" Wheeler and Anthony "Flip" Green, both of Abilene, and Nathaniel "Nate" Green of Dallas; four grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Della Wilson

TUSCOLA - Della E. Wilson, 94, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Tuscola Cemetery with the Rev. David Botterbrodt officiating, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wilson was born at Mill Creek, Okla., and moved to Abilene in 1941 and Waco in 1947. She was a homemaker and moved to Winters in 1994 from Waco, and to Tuscola in 1996. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Hubert H. Pilley; and Walter W. Wilson, whom she married in 1945 in Abilene.

Survivors include one son, Hubert E. "Buddy" Pilley of Tuscola; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Roger Mollenhour

TUSCOLA - Roger L. Mollenhour, 65, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Drummond Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home.

Mr. Mollenhour was born in Elkhart, Ind., and served with the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Tuscola in 1979 from Elkhart, Ind. He married Mona Dunagan in 1983 near Tuscola. He worked for John Crowe & Associates in Abilene as a construction superintendent for 12 years until retiring in 1998.

Survivors include his wife, of Tuscola; one son, Aaron Mollenhour of Tavernier, Fla.; two stepsons, Frank Dunagan of Abilene and Fred Dunagan of Raleigh, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Frances Dunn of San Antonio; one brother, Philip Mollenhour of Bushnell, Fla.; two sisters, Phyllis Bachert of Elkhart, Ind., and Eyleen Menhart of Tampa, Fla.; seven step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Anna Mae McEntire

DENTON - Anna Mae McEntire, 82, formerly of Abilene, died Monday at her home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Belverde with Stephen Spence officiating, directed by DeBerry Funeral Directors.

Mrs. McEntire was born in Center City and attended Hardin-Simmons University. She worked as an artist and was a volunteer at Hendrick Hospital in Abilene. She and her husband founded the National Senior Citizens Organization and operated it in Abilene for 10 years. She was the widower of Cecil D. McEntire, whom she married in 1933 in Midland.

Survivors include three daughters, Darlene Dorsey of Bulverde, Kaye Spence of San Antonio and Bobbie Cates of Denton; one son, Steve McEntire of Abilene; three sisters, Earlene Jones of Midland, Nan McCoy of Austin and Beth Joy of Cresson; three brothers, Merly Welch of Seminole, Darrel Welch of San Antonio and Buster Welch of Rotan; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 88, Krum 76249.

William Dewey Bailey

GORMAN - William Dewey Bailey, 73, died Tuesday at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Joe Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Mr. Bailey was born in Chillicothe and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Captola Todd in 1978 in De Leon. He moved to Gorman in 1979 and was minister of the Bride of Christ Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Gorman; four daughters, Linda Ann Taylor of Waco, Debra Sue Mims of Howe, Diane Reynolds of Tahoka and Vicki Merriam of Abilene; one son, Leslie D. Bailey of Georgetown; one brother, Leonard Bailey of Tecumseh, Neb.; one sister, Helen Roden of Comanche; and 10 grandchildren.

Doris Garrett

BROWNWOOD - Doris (Mrs. Rich S.) Garrett, 91, of Abilene and formerly of Brownwood, died Monday in an Abilene nursing home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Ted Kell officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Garrett was born in Brownwood and attended Daniel Baker College and Abilene Christian College. She was a homemaker and also was a high school teacher in Dorol. She moved to Abilene in 1995. She was a member of Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood and was the widow of Rich Garrett, whom she married in 1926 in Thorp Springs.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Richard E. Garrett and Dr. Don C. Garrett, both of Abilene; one brother, Walter Woods of Abilene; nine grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Austin Avenue Church of Christ Mission Fund, 1020 Austin Ave., Brownwood 76801.

Visitation will be from 5-6:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Chester Cooper

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Chester Cooper, 76, formerly of Rotan, died August 11 in Huntington Beach of cancer.

Services were August 12 in Pacific View Mortuary. Graveside services were August 14 in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Mr. Cooper lived in Rotan from 1947-64. He worked for National Gypsum Co. for 38 years until retiring in 1985. While living in Rotan, he was Lions Club president, commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5072 and a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a life member of the VFW in Rotan.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Cooper of Huntington Beach; one son, J.P. Cooper of Odessa; one daughter, Roberta Sawyer of Huntington Beach; three brothers, Earl Cooper of Stamford, Gene Cooper of Christian City, Mo., and Ernest Cooper of Fairfield, Calif.; four sisters, Linnie Ruth Eitle of El Paso, Francis Sawyer of Andrews, Evelyn Nolen of Monument, N.M., and Bonnie Colwell of Abilene; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Helen Templeton

BROWNWOOD - Helen G. Templeton, 60, died Tuesday in a local hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Greenleaf Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Mrs. Templeton was born in Lometa and worked as a material handling specialist in Seguin until retiring. She moved to Brownwood in 1995 and was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, John R. Templeton of Brownwood; two sons, Jackie Templeton of Brownwood and John R. Templeton IV of Austin; one daughter, Jadonna Templeton of Seguin; one sister, Rose Sharp of Brownwood; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Edith Bradley

OLD GLORY - Edith Bradley, 88, died Monday in an Aspermont hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Rule Cemetery with the Rev. Barry Taylor officiating, directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Aspermont.

Mrs. Bradley was born in Killeen and was a homemaker. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Marie McClelland

BROWNWOOD - Marie McClelland, 73, died Tuesday in a local hospital.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in May Cemetery with Dr. Norbert Peil officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Ms. McClelland was born in May, where she lived most of her life, and worked as a house parent at the Brownwood State School. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Byler and Sue Jones, both of Brownwood; one sister, Mary Kimbrell of Brownwood; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3:30-5:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Jo Ann McMillan

ROSCOE - Jo Ann McMillan, 67, died Tuesday in a Sweetwater hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Roscoe Church of Christ with Phil Collard and Royce Clay officiating. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.

Mrs. McMillan was born in Tumcumcari, N.M., and moved to Roscoe in 1967. She married Roy Lee McMillan in 1976 in Friona and worked as a teacher's aide at Roscoe High School. She was a Bible class teacher and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, of Roscoe; one daughter, Billie Jo Selby of Washougal, Wash.; three sisters, Betty Day of Ruidoso Downs, N.M., Kathy Turlington of Alvord and Patty Taylor of Lubbock; one brother, Eddie Robards of Bridgeport; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pearl Haddon

BELTON - Pearl Haddon, 67, formerly of Blanket, died Sunday in a Temple care center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Christian Church in Temple with the Revs. David Fisher, Rodney Bolejack and Wilson Keenan officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Blanket Cemetery, directed by Scanio-Harper Funeral Home of Temple.

Mrs. Haddon was born in Coleman and graduated from Blanket High School in 1947. She moved to the Temple area in 1953. She owned and managed a travel agency in Temple since 1955 and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Temple.

Survivors include her husband, James L. Haddon of Belton; two sons, Jim W. Haddon of Houston and Gary L. Haddon of Atlanta; one daughter, Cindy A. Burke of Temple; one sister, Nancey Lindsey of Burleson; two brothers, Doyle Oagle of Granbury and Don Oagle of Comanche; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Family Hospice of Temple or American Diabetes Association.

Edwin Lawson Brown

Edwin Lawson Brown, 91, died Monday in a local nursing home. Services are pending with Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

COLORADO CITY - Donna A. Carter, 72, died Tuesday in Colorado City. Services are pending with Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.

Willie Loyce Taylor

BRECKENRIDGE - Willie Loyce Taylor, 87, died Tuesday in a local nursing home. Services are pending with Melton Funeral Home.

C.J. Stark

COMANCHE - C.J. Stark, 93, died Tuesday in a De Leon nursing home. Services are pending with Hall & Sons Funeral Home.

Keith Hardin Muterspaugh

BRECKENRIDGE - Keith Hardin Muterspaugh, 78, died Monday in a local hospital. Mass will be said at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, directed by Morehart Mortuary.

Mary Carroll

RISING STAR - Mary A. Carroll, 87, died Tuesday in a local nursing home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Rising Star Church of Christ, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home.

Claude Taylor

BROWNWOOD - Claude Taylor, 91, died Tuesday. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Rocky Creek Baptist Church, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
