Tia Donnetta Roberts
Tia Donnetta Roberts, 31, died Saturday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Antioch CME Church with
Dr. V.L. Brown and the Rev. Vera Clay officiating. Burial will
be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, directed by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral
Home, 1443 N. 2nd.
Mrs. Roberts was born in Abilene and graduated from Abilene
High School in 1985. She married Sam Roberts in 1985 in Abilene
and worked for Micrometals and Dave and Margaret Harmon. She attended
Antioch CME Church.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; two sons, Sammy Roberts
and Jamelle Roberts, both of Abilene; her parents, John Jefferson
of Washington, D.C., and Muriel Jefferson of Abilene; three sisters,
Andrea Tamu Jefferson, Talia D. Jefferson and Sandra Jefferson,
all of Abilene; and two brothers, Michael Jefferson and Kevin
Roberts, both of Abilene.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Audrey DeLorme
Audrey M. DeLorme, 66, died Sunday in an Ogdensburg, N.Y. hospital.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. today in Allen Denesha Funeral
Home Chapel in New York with the Rev. Francis Coryer officiating.
Burial will be in Hermon Cemetery in Hermon, N.Y. A memorial service
will be at a later date in Abilene.
Mrs. DeLorme was born in Pierrepoint, N.Y., and formerly lived
in Pyrites, N.Y. She worked as a chambermaid at Best Western University
Inn in Canton, N.Y. She moved to Abilene in 1983 and also was
employed by the Abilene State School and managed a trailer park
in Abilene. She was the widow of Edward J. DeLorme, whom she married
in 1952 in Russell, N.Y.
Survivors include three sons, Rodney H. DeLorme of Canton,
N.Y., Randy J. DeLorme of Hermon, N.Y., and Roger S. DeLorme of
Clyde; five daughters, Marsha L. Rodgers and Pamela J. DeLorme,
both of Abilene, Danette A. Hance of Canton, N.Y., Dorcas M. Lottie
of Morristown, N.Y., and Michele L. Cronk of Rensselaer Falls,
N.Y.; one brother, Daniel F. Coffey of Denver; one sister, Laura
LaBow of Canton, N.Y.; 24 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;
and several nephews and nieces.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.
Ethel Ridgway Muecke
Ethel Ridgway Muecke, 75, formerly of San Antonio, died Wednesday
in a local hospital.
Services will be at noon Friday in Mission Park Funeral Chapels
South in San Antonio with the Rev. Jody Brown officiating. Private
graveside services will be in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery
in San Antonio. Local arrangements were made by Elliott-Hamil
Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Muecke was born in Yoakum, where she graduated from high
school, and attended Southwest Texas Teachers College, now Southwest
Texas State University, in San Marcos. She married Clarence H.
"Mick" Muecke in 1942 in Okmulgee, Okla., and was a
homemaker. She lived in San Antonio for 48 years before moving
to Abilene 1-1/2 years ago. She was a member of Alamo City Bible
Church.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; one son, Monte R.
Muecke of San Antonio; two daughters, Abbe L. Muecke of Dallas
and Connie Muecke Bawcom of Abilene; one sister, Polly Evans of
Red Bank, N.J.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several
nieces.

Edwin Lawson Brown
Edwin Lawson Brown, 91, died Monday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Southwest Park Baptist
Church with the Rev. Mike Woodard officiating. Graveside services
will be at 2 p.m. in Breckenridge Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil
Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Brown was born in De Leon and served with the U.S. Navy
during World War II. He later was a Naval recruiter in the Abilene
area for two years. He was a member of U.S. Naval Reserves. He
worked as a service manager at Carter and Bagwell Chevrolet dealerships
in Breckenridge, Oklahoma City and Olney; Davis and Dabney Chevrolet
in Odessa; and Lawrence Hall Chevrolet in Anson. He moved to Abilene
in 1994 from Anson. He married Mary Ruth Haddox Guthrie in 1994
in Abilene and was a former member of Anson First Baptist Church.
He was a member of American Association of Retired Persons and
Southwest Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; one son, Michael Brown
of Abilene; two stepdaughters, Norma Faye Wallace of Lubbock and
Barbara Ann Brockhoeft of Port Neches; three brothers, Ross Miller
of De Leon, Homer Miller of Tulsa, Okla., and Oscar Miller of
Odessa; two sisters, Velma Tyson of Levelland and Thelma Tyson
of Bridgeport; five grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and
six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Lynda Wade
Lynda C. Wade died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Elmwood Memorial
Park with the Rev. John Wade officiating, directed by North's
Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Wade was born in Glen Rose and moved to Abilene in the
late 1940s. She married Billy Wade in 1964 in Abilene and was
a homemaker. She was a member of Elmwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene.
Robert William Bettes
Robert William Bettes, 51, of Midland and formerly of Abilene,
died Tuesday in a Midland hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Elmwood Memorial
Park with the Rev. Mike Patterson officiating, directed by Elmwood
Funeral Home, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Mr. Bettes was born in Abilene and formerly worked for the
Dallas County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of the Harley
Owners Group, Abilene chapter, and National Rifle Association.
Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Bettes and Amanda
Gail Bettes, both of Midland; his mother, Virginia Humphries of
San Antonio; one sister, Carla Watson of San Antonio; and several
nieces and nephews.
Clema Harrison
Clema C. Harrison, 84, formerly of McKinney, died Tuesday in
a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Wilson Chapel
Cemetery in Collin County, southeast of McKinney, with the Rev.
Dan Buster officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home,
542 Hickory.
Miss Harrison was born in Limestone County, Ala., and moved
to Abilene more than 50 years ago. She was a domestic worker and
was a member of North Side Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Irma Harrison of Dallas and
Leona Ruth Reynolds of Phoenix, Ariz.; and one brother, Alvin
L. Harrison of Tulsa, Okla.
Michael Allen Chalupa
Michael Allen Chalupa, 30, died Saturday at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Elmwood Funeral Home
Chapel, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with Msgr. Fred Nawarskis officiating.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Moore Memorial Gardens
in Arlington.
Mr. Chalupa was born in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and moved
to Abilene in 1983 from England. He worked as a cook at Abuelo's
for one year.
Survivors include his father, Charles Louis Chalupa Sr. of
Moore, Okla.; his mother, Naomi Hoffman of Abilene; his stepfather,
David Hoffman of Abilene; four brothers, Charles Louis Chalupa
Jr. of Venus, Texas, Curtis Warren Chalupa of Killeen, Robert
Patrick Chalupa of Abilene and Brian Luke Hoffman of El Paso;
one sister, Susan Marie Chalupa of Abilene; and 10 nieces and
nephews.
Chester Cooper
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Chester Cooper, 76, formerly of
Rotan, died August 11 in Huntington Beach of cancer.
A memorial service was held August 12 in Pacific View Mortuary.
Graveside services were August 14 in Costa Mesa, Calif.
Mr. Cooper lived in Rotan from 1947-64. He worked for National
Gypsum Co. for 38 years until retiring in 1985. While living in
Rotan, he was Lions Club president, commander of Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 5072 and a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was
a life member of the VFW in Rotan.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Cooper of Huntington Beach;
one son, J.P. Cooper of Odessa; one daughter, Roberta Sawyer of
Huntington Beach; three brothers, Earl Cooper of Stamford, Gene
Cooper of Crystal City, Mo., and Ernest Cooper of Fairfield, Calif.;
four sisters, Linnie Rue Eitel of El Paso, Frances Sawyer of Andrews,
Evelyn Nolen of Monument, N.M., and Bonnie Todd of Abilene; four
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Claud Stark
COMANCHE - C.J. Stark, 93, died Tuesday in a De Leon nursing
home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Hall & Sons Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. Sherl Taylor officiating. Burial will
be in Comanche Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Stark was born in Comanche and married Laura Idelle Craig
in 1927 in Fort Worth. He owned and operated a western wear clothing
store in Lubbock for 35 years until retiring in 1968. He then
moved to Comanche. He was a member of Van Dyke Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Comanche; one daughter, Betty
Lou Bolt of Comanche; one son, Dr. Bob Stark of Panama City, Fla.;
one brother, R.O. Stark of Comanche; two grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Edwin Wheat
FORT WORTH - Edwin O. Wheat, 61, formerly of the Big Country,
died Wednesday in Fort Worth.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Hillier Funeral Home Chapel
in Bryan with the Rev. Garry Masterson officiating. Burial will
be in Kurten Cemetery.
Mr. Wheat was born in Poplarville, Miss., and graduated from
Bryan High School and Sam Houston State University. He served
with the U.S. Navy and worked as a police chief in Hillsboro,
Colorado City and Hamlin before retiring.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wheat of Fort Worth; three
sons, Edwin O. Wheat Jr. and V. Wayne Wheat, both of Houston,
and Anson Buck Wheat of Fort Worth; one daughter, D'Ann Winslager
of Fort Worth; his mother, Dena Pantalion of Bryan; one brother,
Joe Wheat of The Woodlands; one sister, Faye Cook of Bryan; eight
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Donna Alene Carter
COLORADO CITY - Donna Alene Carter, 72, died Tuesday in Colorado
City.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Jayton Cemetery
with the Rev. David Fletcher officiating, directed by Kiker-Seale
Funeral Home.
Ms. Carter was born in Jayton, where she lived for many years,
and was a homemaker. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Page of Colorado City
and Vickie Taylor of Houston; three sons, Lynn Carter of Austin,
Mark Taylor of Euless and Larry Burks of Merkel; three sisters,
Betty Cagle of Grant, N.M., Lynn Ellen Stanaland of Jayton and
Mary Stanley of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Claude Taylor
BROWNWOOD - Claude Taylor, 91, died Tuesday in a local nursing
home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Rocky Creek Baptist
Church with the Rev. Mark Bryant officiating. Burial will be in
Rocky Creek Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Taylor was born in Temple and was a medic with the U.S.
Army during World War II. He moved to Brownwood in 1945 and worked
for the Texas Highway Department. He was a farmer and was a member
of Rocky Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Susan Haynes Taylor of
Brownwood; two sons, Norice Taylor of Liberty Falls and Larry
Taylor of Stephenville; one sister, Iola Ketchum of Lucerne, Calif.;
and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Ruben Hornsby
STAMFORD - Ruben Hornsby, 85, died Tuesday in a Hamlin nursing
home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Mission Revival Center
in Haskell. Burial will be in Knox City Cemetery, directed by
Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors of Haskell.
Mr. Hornsby was born in Giddings in Lee County and was a farmer
for 65 years. He married Florene Posteal in 1951 in Knox City
and was a member of Mission Revival Center in Haskell.
Survivors include his wife of Stamford; one son, Huron Hornsby
of Fort Worth; two daughters, Annette Banks and Doris Hill, both
of Houston; four brothers, Carl Hornsby and Jessie Hornsby, both
of Waco, and James Hornsby and Shannon Hornsby, both of Dallas;
two sisters, Margaret Henderson of Grand Prairie and Dorothy Drisdale
of Dallas; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
