Mario Sanchez Calderon
Mario Sanchez Calderon, 59, died Friday.
A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday in St. Vincent's
Catholic Church. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the church
with the Rev. Joe Uecker officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood
Memorial Park, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 U.S. Hwy
277 South.
Mr. Calderon was born in Victoria, Mexico, and attended school
in Laredo. He moved to Abilene in 1971 from Dallas and served
with the U.S. Army. He worked for Willis Pool & Spa for several
years and married Frances Melchor in 1993 in Abilene. He was a
member of Knights of Columbus Council 8788 and St. Vincent's Catholic
Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Mario X. Calderon
of Arlington; three daughters, Margaret McKee of Kerrville, Magdalina
Calderon of Dallas and Teresa Calderon of Abilene; his father,
Juan Calderon of Victoria, Mexico; four sisters, Gloria Gallegos
of Monterrey, Mexico, Teresa Monquia of Dallas, and Naty Cardenas
and Alicia Camacho, both of Victoria, Mexico; and two grandchildren.
Carroll Derwood Koonsman
Carroll Derwood Koonsman, 65, lifelong Abilene resident, died
Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. David
Cason officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Koonsman was born in Abilene and worked in civil service
for 14 years with the 96th Vehicle Maintenance Branch at Dyess
Air Force Base until retiring in 1990. He also was an auto body
shop worker. He served in the National Guard for nine years. He
was a Baptist and was the widower of Minnie Lee Burnham Koonsman,
whom he married in 1956 in Abilene.
Survivors include four daughters, Lana Rutherford, Leann Hamrick
and Lisa Ramos, all of Abilene, and Linda Dickey of Brownwood;
two sons, Michael Koonsman and Doug Koonsman, both of Abilene;
one brother, Kenneth Koonsman of Abilene; one sister, Betty Bogart
of Abilene; and 18 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Delphia Elizabeth McMaster
LITTLEFIELD - Delphia McMaster, 94, mother of an Abilene resident,
died Friday in a Lubbock hospital after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Littlefield First United
Methodist Church with the Rev. George Price officiating. Burial
will be in Littlefield Memorial Park, directed by Hammons Funeral
Home.
Mrs. McMaster was born in Titus County near Cookville and graduated
from Cookville High School in 1922 and West Texas State University
in 1931. She taught school for 32 years until retiring in 1968.
She was a seamstress in Littlefield for nearly 20 years. She was
a member of First United Methodist Church and was the widow of
the Rev. Carl McMaster, whom she married in 1929 in Palaska.
Survivors include one son, Billy McMaster of Abilene; one brother,
Quentin Will of Studio City, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and
10 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.
Tiny Bishop Novak McGregor
KINGSLAND - Tiny Bishop Novak McGregor, 90, formerly of the
Big Country, died Friday.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Edgar Funeral Home Chapel
in Marble Falls with the Rev. Michael Quest officiating. Burial
will be in Lakeland Hills Memorial Park near Marble Falls.
Mrs. McGregor was born in Haskell County and lived in Lubbock
and Abilene before moving to the Granite Shoals-Kingsland area
in 1963. She was a member of Highland Lakes Methodist Church and
was the widow of Henry Robert Novak and Donald Watson McGregor.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Novak Jones of Houston
and Anne Novak Neuens of Littleton, Colo.; one sister, Lula Bishop
Teague of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;
and 12 nieces and nephews.

Charles Pinckney Berryhill
EULA - Charles Pinckney Berryhill, 78, died Saturday in an
Eastland nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Eula First Baptist Church
with the Revs. Dale Dozier and Jerry Speer officiating. Burial
will be in Clyde Cemetery, directed by Bailey Funeral Home of
Clyde.
Mr. Berryhill was born in Granbury and married Dorothy Louise
Dozier in 1942 in Walters, Okla. He served with the U.S. Army
during World War II and worked as an oilfield supervisor for Atlantic
Richfield Oil Co. until retiring in 1983. He moved to Eula in
1983 from Sand Springs and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Charles P. Berryhill Jr. of Lake
Waucausaw, N.C., and John David Berryhill of Clyde; one daughter,
Louise LaJean Berryhill of Clyde; three sisters, Wanda Porter,
Anne Dorman and Bennye Caraway, all of Ranger; three grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Gideon's or a favorite charity.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Milton Reeves
KNOX CITY - Milton J. Reeves, 82, died Friday in a local nursing
home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Rochester Cemetery
with the Rev. Johnny Johnson officiating, directed by Smith Funeral
Home.
Mr. Reeves was born in Trent and served with the U.S. Army
during World War II. He was a retired painter and was a Baptist.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Kunkle of Richardson;
one brother, Charles Reeves of Knox City; one grandchild; and
one great-grandchild.

H.C. 'Blackie' Fox
OLDEN - H.C. "Blackie" Fox, 86, died Friday in an
Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Merriman Baptist Church
with the Rev. Jim Lively and Ray Rodgers officiating. Burial will
be in Merriman Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home of Ranger.
Mr. Fox was born in Eastland County and married Bonnie Fay
Highsmith in 1939 in Olden. He worked during World War II for
Henry Pullman as a mechanic and gathering scrap metal. He was
a self-employed mechanic. He was an Olden school trustee and member
of the Olden Water Board for several years. He was a charter member
of Calvary Baptist Church in Eastland and attended Olden Baptist
Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Olden; six children, Bonnie
Stewart of Ranger, Cliffard Fox of Big Spring, Kenneth Fox of
Olden, Billy Fox of Houston, JoAnn Knight of Eastland and Danny
Fox of Alvarado; three brothers, Andy Fox of Corpus Christi, Robert
Fox of Eastland and Paul Elwood Fox of Desdemona; two sisters,
Eujay Marshall and Dealva Rodgers, both of Eastland; 16 grandchildren;
18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Rex Brewer
ALBANY - Rex H. Brewer, 87, died Saturday in an Abilene hospital.
Services are pending with Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.
Flora Orene Pherigo
SNYDER - Flora Orene Pherigo, 99, died Saturday at her home
after a brief illness. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday
in Hillside Memorial Gardens, directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral
Home.
Austin Tyler Engelson
BIG SPRING - Austin Tyler Engelson, 4-month-old infant, of
Virginia Beach, Va., died Thursday in Virginia Beach. Graveside
services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity Memorial Park, directed
by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Mona Joyce Warren
STEPHENVILLE - Mona Joyce Warren, 41, died Friday in a Fort
Worth hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Stephenville
Funeral Home Chapel.
Virginia Athey Alexander
SAN ANTONIO - Virginia Athey Alexander, 92, formerly of Breckenridge,
died Friday in San Antonio. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m.
Tuesday in Breckenridge Cemetery, directed by Mission Park Funeral
Chapel.
