Cheryl Roxanne Hayes

Cheryl Roxanne Hayes, 53, died Wednesday at her home.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Revs. Doyle Pruitt and Peter Jones officiating, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South.

Mrs. Hayes was born in Mitchell, S.D.

Survivors include one son, Brian Antaya of White Lake, S.D.; four daughters, Roxanne Stevens of Burleson, Holly Vreugdenhil of Mitchell, S.D., Michele Beyer of Round Rock and Kena Trevino of Abilene; one sister, Carol E. Peterson of Abilene; a companion, Jerry Haddock of Abilene; 16 grandchildren; and three nieces and two nephews.

Memorials may be sent to Hendrick Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1922, Abilene 79604.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Dr. Juanita Royal Taylor

Dr. Juanita Royal Taylor died Wednesday in a local hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.

Dr. Taylor was born in Groveton and lived in Abilene for many years. She graduated from Texas Chiropractic College in San Antonio and was a retired chiropractor. She was a past president of American Business Women's Association and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean Bowlus of Lubbock and Beth Bunch of Abilene; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Billy Joe Cain

Billy Joe Cain, 68, died Tuesday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory. Burial will be in Trent Cemetery.

Mr. Cain was born in Venus, Texas, and moved to Abilene in 1955. He was a self-employed mechanic. He was a Baptist and was the widower of Edna Mae Cain, whom he married in Clovis, N.M.

Survivors include three daughters, Paula Horton and Tina Jo Howard, both of Fort Walters, Fla., and Billie Mae Coburn of Arlington; three brothers, Richard Cain of Huntsville, Harold Hataway of Arlington and Jim Hataway of Irving; and eight grandchildren.

Maymie Lee Pope

Maymie Lee Pope, 88, died Monday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Andrew Penns officiating. Burial will be in City Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mrs. Pope was born in Schulenberg and, in 1924, moved to Abilene, where she attended school. She was a homemaker and was active in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program at the Carver Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and was the widow of Chester Pope Sr., whom she married in 1934 in Abilene.

Survivors include one son, Chester Pope Jr. of Abilene; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Virginia Pairlee Hill

NORMAN, Okla. - Virginia Hill, 75, mother of an Abilene resident, died Tuesday in Norman.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel in Chickasha, Okla., with Dr. Lavonn Brown officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha.

Mrs. Hill was born in Tabler, Okla., and graduated from Friend High School in 1942. She attended Oklahoma College for Women, now the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma, in Chickasha. She was a homemaker and formerly lived in Chickasha, Okla. She moved to Norman in 1960. She worked with the Norman school lunch program and later was a ticket taker at Lloyd Noble Arena at the University of Oklahoma. She was a member of Woodslawn Garden Club, Fellowship Singers Senior Church Choir and First Baptist Church, and was the widow of Lloyd George Hill, whom she married in 1945 in Chickasha, Okla.

Survivors include one daughter, Rolene Cox of Norman; two sons, Greg Hill of Abilene and Dan Hill of Houston; one sister, Margie Monical of Norman; one half-sister, Hazel Tipton of Green Forest, Ark.; two brothers, Marvin Weaver of Chickasha, Okla., and Floyd Weaver of La Mesa, Calif.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Roy Teaff

POST - Roy J. Teaff, 66, brother of three Big Country residents, died Tuesday at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Post First Baptist Church with the Rev. Billie S. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Terrace Cemetery, directed by Justice-Mason Funeral Home.

Mr. Teaff was born in Close City and graduated from Post High School. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and married Joyce Lauderdale in 1957 in Grassland. He worked as a parts manager for a Ford dealership. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service from 1962 until retiring in 1996 and was a member of American Postal Workers Union. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, of Post; two sons, Rodney Teaff of Buffalo Springs Lake and Randy Teaff of Post; one daughter, Vicki Gray of Post; two brothers, N.B. Teaff of Roscoe and Auda Vee Teaff of Lubbock; three sisters, Evalee Roberts of Abilene, Sybil Cagle of Coleman and Jimmie Bayer of Plains; and seven grandchildren.

Noah Miles Sipe

SWEETWATER - Noah Miles Sipe, 86, died Wednesday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Trinity Baptist Church with the Revs. Buddy Sipe, Orvel Brantley and Travis Monday officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.

Mr. Sipe was born in Longworth, where he married Anna Lucille Hale in 1934. He farmed in Longworth from 1934 until moving to Sweetwater in 1952. He worked for the Sweetwater Cotton Oil Mill from 1963-76 and also was employed by the Sweetwater Housing Authority for 10 years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Sweetwater; two daughters, Joy Newman of Sweetwater and Floy Skelton of Abilene; one son, Buddy Martin Sipe of Cottonwood; one sister, Thessie Patterson of Hamlin; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Billy Frank Jackson

CARBON - Billy Frank Jackson, 67, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Murray Cemetery with Larry Roberts officiating, directed by Bakker Funeral Home of Eastland.

Mr. Jackson was born in Carbon and attended school in Carbon and Eastland. He served with the U.S. Navy and worked as a mechanic. He returned to Eastland in the mid-1970s and was employed by Perkin's Implement in Eastland until retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Eastland post of American Legion and the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Victor Lee Jackson and Joseph Jackson, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters, Sherrel Ann Jackson of El Paso and Maxine Leona Jackson of Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers, Henry Leon Jackson of Hemet, Calif., and Jim Bob Cavender of Odessa; one sister, Melba Fox of Carbon; and many nieces and nephews.

Frankie Pearl Meredith

ROSCOE - Frankie Pearl Meredith, 77, of Wastella, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Roscoe Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Willis officiating. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.

Mrs. Meredith was born in Mitchell County and married Marshall Meredith in 1944 in San Diego. She was a homemaker and moved to Odessa in 1947 and Wastella in 1959. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, of Wastella; one daughter, Carolyn Sims of Fort Worth; two sons, David Meredith of Fort Worth and Tommy Meredith of Marathon; two brothers, Herbert Williams and Joe Williams, both of Roscoe; one sister, Billie Cortez Clark of Cross Plains; and two grandchildren.

John Farrell Henderson

COLEMAN - John Farrell Henderson, 86, of the El Paso area and formerly of Coleman County, died Tuesday in El Paso.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Glen Cove Cemetery, directed by Walker Funeral Home.

Mr. Henderson was a longtime Coleman County resident. He worked as a welder and was a farmer in the Coleman area for many years. He moved to the El Paso area in 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Mickey Faye Henderson; three children, Dr. Bill Henderson of San Angelo, Richard "Gene" Henderson of El Paso and Marsha Lynne Henderson of Casa Grande, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Bobby Roy Rutherford

ASPERMONT - Bobby Roy Rutherford, 62, died Tuesday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Aspermont Church of Christ with Bob Phillips and the Revs. Barry Taylor, Jim Reinbolt and Dick Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Aspermont Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.

Mr. Rutherford was born in Crosby County and married Janell Perry in 1955 in Aspermont. He owned Rutherford Bookkeeping Service. He was a member of Aspermont Masonic Lodge 1382, Stonewall County Emmaus Community, Big Country Accounting Association and the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, of Aspermont; one son, Jackie Glen Rutherford of Jacksonville, Ark.; one sister, Janeen Criswell of Wichita Falls; three grandchildren; one uncle; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Helen Overton

GROSVENOR - Helen K. Overton, 80, died Tuesday at her home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Grosvenor Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Merritt officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Mrs. Overton was born in Omaha, Neb., and married Ben E. Overton in 1943 in Oklahoma. She moved to Brown County in 1947 and was a retired store clerk. She was a member of Grosvenor Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, of Grosvenor; two sons, Ben E. Overton of Madison, Miss., and Bruce Jack Overton of Arlington; one daughter, Beverly Roady of Brownwood; one sister, Trude Schomer of Lincoln, Neb.; one brother, Stanley Kahn of Omaha, Neb.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society or Brown County Humane Society.

Moody Ward

COLORADO CITY - Moody Ward, 72, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Ramey officiating. Burial will be in Snyder Cemetery.

Mr. Ward was born in Colorado City, where he married Sarah Chitsey in 1946. He moved to Snyder in 1949 and returned to Colorado City in 1986. He was a retired oilfield worker and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, of Colorado City; one son, George Ward of Colorado City; two daughters, Juanita Pilgrim of Longview and LaJuana Ward of Snyder; two sisters, Ollie Deese of Colorado City and Katherine Reed of May; one brother, Willie Ward of California; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Barney Burleson

COLEMAN - Barney Burleson, 74, formerly of Coleman, died Wednesday in a Kerrville hospital. Services are pending with Stevens Funeral Home.

Ronnie Carlton

BRONTE - Ronnie L. Carlton, 51, died Wednesday at his home. Services are pending with Rains-Seale Funeral Home of Ballinger.

Lillian Powell

MERKEL - Lillian Powell, 74, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital. Services are pending with Starbuck Funeral Home.

Billy Roy Garrett

BIG SPRING - Billy Roy Garrett, 61, died Tuesday at his home. Services are pending with Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

Norman Eugene Mahoney Sr.

SWEETWATER - Norman Eugene Mahoney Sr., 61, died Monday in an Albuquerque, N.M. hospital. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories.

Mabel Louise Hopkins

BIG SPRING - Mabel Louise Hopkins, 81, died Tuesday at her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel.

GOLDTHWAITE - J.W. Love, 87, formerly of Snyder, died Wednesday in an Austin hospital after a brief illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Victory Baptist Church in Snyder, directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home of Snyder.

BIG SPRING - Fred "Kit" Carson, 80, died Wednesday in a local hospital. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hamlin East Cemetery in Hamlin, directed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

Ronnie 'Spanky' Wyatt

MESQUITE - Ronnie S. "Spanky" Wyatt, 54, formerly of Stamford, died Tuesday in Royse City. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Laurel Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.
