Julia Leo Tillerson
Julia Leo Tillerson, 92, of Abilene and formerly of Wichita
Falls, died Wednesday.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Lamar Baptist Church
in Wichita Falls with Deacon C.C. Hayley officiating. Burial will
be in Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil
Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Tillerson was born in Concho County and lived in Wichita
Falls for many years. She was a homemaker and recently moved to
Abilene. She was a member of Lamar Baptist Church in Wichita Falls
and was the widow of Varnie Tillerson.
Survivors include one son, Bob Tillerson of Pagosa Springs,
Colo.; four grandchildren, including Dr. Rae Ann Hamilton of Abilene;
seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Women's Missionary Union at Lamar
Baptist Church, 11th & Harrison, Wichita Falls 76301.
Visitation will be from 5-6:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Frank Whittington
Frank Whittington, 103, died Wednesday at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Plum Street United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Giles officiating. Burial
will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Curtis-Starks Funeral
Home, 542 E.N. 7th.
Mr. Whittington was born in Bell County and moved to Taylor
County more than 45 years ago. He was a retired construction worker
and was a member of Plum Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Williams Whittington of
Abilene; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and
many cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will be at 642 N. 13th.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Lillie Ila Ellison Husted
Lillie Ila Husted, 76, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Elmwood
Memorial Park with the Rev. Clayton Pennington officiating, directed
by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Husted was born in Cross Plains and grew up in Elmdale.
She married Orlan Husted in 1956 in Muskogee, Okla., and worked
as a licensed vocational nurse. She returned to Abilene in 1998
and was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; two sons, Clifton
Hobbs of Oklahoma and Preston Husted of Myrtle Point, Ore.; two
sisters, Vergie Mazy of Abilene and Bertha Pipin of Muskogee,
Okla.; one brother, Tom Ellison of Phoenix, Ariz.; one grandchild;
and two great-grandchildren.
Leslie Ruth Brown Staton
CARROLLTON - Leslie Ruth Brown Staton, 34, formerly of Abilene,
died Wednesday in Carrollton after a 12-year battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Webb United
Methodist Church in Farmers Branch. Burial will be in Hilltop
Cemetery, directed by MetroCrest Funeral Home.
Mrs. Staton was born in El Dorado, Ark., and graduated from
Cooper High School in 1982 and McMurry College in 1986. She was
an English as Second Language and Reading Recovery teacher in
the Carrollton/Farmers Branch school district. She received the
VIP of Teaching Award from the Carrollton/Farmers Branch school
district and was an honorary life member of the Texas Parent-Teacher
Association. She also was a member of Webb Chapel United Methodist
Church in Farmers Branch.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Harding Staton III; two
sons, Robert Staton and Kirwen Staton; her parents, Joy and John
Kirwen Brown of Slidell, La.; one sister, Renee Brown Combs of
Carrollton; her grandparents, Lorena and Bill Shaver, and Gladys
and Kirwen Brown, all of Coushatta, La.; and many aunts, uncles,
nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society.
Hazel Ruth King
ELECTRA - Hazel Ruth King, 84, relative of an Abilene resident,
died Wednesday in Electra.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Electra First Baptist
Church with the Revs. John Klappenbach and Jim Belcher Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park in Vernon, directed
by Dutton Funeral Home.
Mrs. King was born in Odell and graduated from Vernon High
School in 1931. She served with the Cadet Corps during World War
II and graduated from Texas Christian University's Harris College
of Nursing in 1947. She married Cecil King in 1947 in Torrence,
Calif., and worked as a registered nurse at Electra Memorial Hospital
for 50 years until retiring. She moved to Electra in 1957 from
Vernon. She was a blood bank volunteer and was a member of Shriner's
Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Living Donor
Bank. She taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Electra; one brother, Jim
Belcher Sr. of Wichita Falls; one nephew, Dr. Jim Belcher Jr.
of Abilene; one niece; and two great-nephews and one great-niece.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity that deals with
handicapped, heart or diabetes research.
Alfred Dutton
OLTON - Alfred Dutton, 85, formerly of Jones County, died Thursday
in a local care center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Anson First Baptist
Church with the Rev. Bobby Broyles officiating. Burial will be
in Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson, directed by Parsons-Ellis Funeral
Home of Earth.
Mr. Dutton was born in Hamlin and married Mildred Celeste Agnew
in 1933 in Jones County. He was a farmer and moved to Earth, Texas,
in 1955 from Jones County, to Port Aransas in 1975 and Olton in
1995. He was a member of Port Aransas Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Bryan Dutton of Earth;
three sisters, Marie Key of Anson, Eunice Burton of Kress and
Florence Carpenter of Lubbock; one brother, Woodrow Dutton of
Hereford; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Plains, 7109 Olton
Road, Plainview 79702.
The body will be at the church at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Charlie 'C.T.' Harp
EASTLAND - Charlie T. "C.T." Harp, 85, died Thursday
in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bakker Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Jonathan Gay officiating. Burial will be
in Eastland Cemetery.
Mr. Harp was born in Rochelle, where he attended school, and
moved to Stephenville in the early 1930s. He worked in a Stephenville
cafe and, later, a service station. He married Vertie Jackson
in 1934 in Stephenville. He was an aircraft assembly worker in
Fort Worth before serving with the U.S. Army during World War
II. He moved to Eastland in 1947 and owned and operated Harp's
Cabinet Shop until retiring in 1992.
Survivors include his wife, of Eastland; two daughters, Wanda
Moore of Midland and Sandra Squires of Eastland; one sister, Estelle
Hinds of Del Rio; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
and one great-great-grandchild.
Mae Damron
BLANKET - Mae Damron, 97, died Thursday in a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Davis-Morris Funeral
Home Chapel in Brownwood with the Rev. Ray Box officiating. Burial
will be in Blanket Cemetery.
Mrs. Damron was born in Richland Springs and moved to Brown
County in 1920. She was a homemaker. She attended Bethel Baptist
Church and was the widow of Butler Damron, whom she married in
1920 in San Antonio.
Survivors include one son, Chester Damron of Blanket; one daughter,
Ila Mae Lovelace of Blanket; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;
and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Nannie Imogene Hale-Brumfield
SWEETWATER - Nannie Imogene Hale-Brumfield, 96, died Thursday
in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in McCoy Funeral Home
Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Travis Monday officiating. Burial
will be in Longworth Cemetery.
Mrs. Hale-Brumfield was born in Elkhart and was a homemaker.
She moved to the Sweetwater area in 1946. She was a member of
Longworth Baptist Church and was the widow of Ira Hale Sr., whom
she married in 1922; and Harman Brumfield, whom she married in
1961.
Survivors include two sons, Ira Hale Jr. of Sweetwater and
Alton Wayne Hale of Gainesville; one daughter, Gwendolyn Guelker
of Slaton; three stepdaughters, Viola Benson of Sweetwater, Geneva
Perkins of Roby and Thelma Kennedy of Eustace; one stepson, Vernon
Brumfield of Roby; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren;
13 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Guy Kemp
ROBY - Guy S. Kemp, 82, lifelong Fisher County resident, died
Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Roby First United Methodist
Church with the Revs. Loren Gardner and Jim McClurg officiating.
Burial will be in Roby Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral
Home of Hamlin.
Mr. Kemp was born in McCaulley and attended school in McCaulley
and Sylvester. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World
War II. He married Frances Pope in 1948 in Sylvester and was a
farmer and rancher until retiring in 1976. He was a member of
First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Roby; one brother, Warren "Jap"
Kemp of Hamlin; one sister, Ruth Crance of Conway, Ark.; and several
nieces and nephews.
Vertie Brooks
Vertie C. Brooks, 81, died Thursday in a local hospital. Services
are pending with Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.
Charles Edward Minor Sr.
Charles Edward Minor Sr., 54, died Tuesday in a local hospital.

Mary Helen Mayes
COLORADO CITY - Mary Helen Mayes died Thursday in an Odessa
hospital. Services are pending with Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Erma Sanders
HASKELL - Erma Sanders, 77, died Thursday. Services are pending

Irene Harding
COAHOMA - Irene (Mrs. G.B.) Harding, 77, died Wednesday at
her home. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Nalley-Pickle &
Welch Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring.
Margaret Adams
SNYDER - Margaret Adams, 65, of Scurry County, died Wednesday
in an Abilene hospital after a lengthy illness. Services will
be at 2 p.m. today in 37th Street Church of Christ, directed by
Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
