Freda Glen Lavy
Freda Glen Lavy, 78, a lifelong resident of the Abilene area,
died Sunday at her residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Highway 277 South, with the Rev.
David Cason officiating. Burial will be in Drummond Cemetery.
Mrs. Lavy was born in View and worked for Timex and Texas Instruments
before retiring. She was a member of Broadview Baptist Church.
She married Dewey B. Whisenhunt in 1942 in View; he preceded her
in death. She married Forrest Lavy in 1990 in Abilene.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; three sons, Johnny
Whisenhunt, Jimmy Whisenhunt and Jackie Whisenhunt, all of Abilene;
one daughter, Barbara Willson of Abilene; two stepsons, Gene Lavy
of Denison and William Smith of Sherman; two sisters, Blanche
Rister of Sweetwater and Mildred Fryor of Sand Springs; 13 grandchildren
and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at 1369 Buccaneer Drive.
Kenneth Paul Williams
Kenneth Paul Williams, infant, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Baird Cemetery
with Randy Herring officiating, assisted by Tex Herring, directed
by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Kenneth was born in Abilene.
Survivors include his mother, Amanda G. Williams of Abilene;
grandparents W. Paul and Gaye Williams of Abilene; great-grandparents
Mr. and Mrs. Tex Herring of Abilene; one aunt, two uncles and
numerous cousins.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.
Bernice Harker
Bernice M. Harker, 96, a longtime resident of Abilene, died
Saturday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Brook Hollow Christian
Church with Dr. Steven G. Williams officiating. Burial will be
in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home,
542 Hickory.
Mrs. Harker was born in Callahan County and moved from Ovalo
to Abilene while in high school. She graduated from Abilene High
School in 1921 and worked at Camp Barkley for 3-1/2 years. She
was a homemaker and a charter member of Brook Hollow Christian
Church. She married Adam Gage Harker in 1922 in Abilene; he preceded
her in death.
Survivors include one son, H.J. Harker of Dripping Springs;
one brother, Roy Johnson of Burleson; and two grandsons.
Naomi Holly Callaway
Naomi Holly Callaway, 97, died Sunday at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Memorial
Park Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Birdwell officiating, directed
by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Callaway grew up in Potosi and attended Hardin-Simmons
College. She was a homemaker and a member of Episcopal Church
of the Heavenly Rest. She married Donald A. Callaway in 1929 in
Abilene; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include six grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Charles Edward Minor Sr.
Charles Edward Minor Sr., 54, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in City Cemetery
with the Rev. R.L. Brown officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil
Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Minor was born in Hearne and lived in Levelland most of
his life. He attended school in Levelland and worked as a mechanic.
He returned to Abilene in 1998 and was a member of Morning Star
Baptist Church in Levelland.
Survivors include four sons, Charles E. Minor Jr., Chester
Minor and Ricky Minor, all of Abilene, and Nathan Andre Minor
of Bryan; two stepsons, Vince Robinson and Sean Robinson, both
of Houston; three daughters, Angela Minor of Bryan, Mattie McGee
of Indiana and Pearl Minor of Abilene; his mother, Adline Minor
of Levelland; two brothers, Irving Douglas Minor and Chester James,
both of Levelland; and 13 grandchildren.
Charles Lee Goswick
Charles Lee Goswick, 52, of Abilene died Sunday at a local
hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Memorial
Park with Rodel Liwanag and Jack Sharp officiating, directed by
Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Goswick was born in Pecos and moved to Abilene from Odessa
in 1952. He graduated from Hawley High School in 1966 and worked
13 years for American Starter and Generator and five years for
Abilene Aero. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War
and a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Roberts of Abilene; one
son, Christopher Goswick of Abilene; three stepsons, Michael Morgan,
Michael Roberts and Ryan Roberts, all of Abilene; his mother,
Lavaun Goswick of Abilene; one brother, Carl Thomas Goswick of
Abilene; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.

Abilene 79601.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Jose Galindo
DUBLIN -- Jose Galindo, 69, died Saturday at a Tyler hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Harrell Funeral Home
Memorial chapel with the Rev. Phillip McNamera officiating. Burial
will be in Alexander Cemetery in Alexander.
Mr. Galindo was born in Durgon, Mexico, and was a Catholic.
Survivors include six sons, Leopoldo Galindo and Alfredo Galindo,
both of Alexander, Isabel Galindo of Durango, Mexico, Arturo Galindo
and David Galindo, both of Fredericksburg, and Jose Luis Galindo
of Lingleville; two daughters, Maria Lopez of Alexander and Juana
Delosreys of Stephenville; 28 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jimmy Hailey
MIDLAND -- Jimmy Hailey, 65, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crestview Baptist Church
with Dr. Larry Ashlock officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jack
Ridlehoover. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park, directed
by Ellis Funeral Home.
Mr. Hailey was born in Abilene and was a member of Crestview
Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Hailey of Midland; two sons,
Jimmy Hailey Jr. of Midland and Robert Hailey of New Orleans,
La.; his parents, J.D. and Gladys Hailey of Midland; five grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.

Mary Lou Holt
HAMLIN -- Mary Lou Holt, 72, died Saturday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Foster-Adams Funeral Home
with the Rev. Tracy Watson officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin
Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Holt was born in Wellman and graduated from high school
in 1944 in McCamey. She moved to Hamlin from Rankin in 1965 and
was a bookkeeper for Radium Gin and, for many years, worked for
the Hamlin Public Library. She was a Baptist and a member of Veterans
of Foreign Wars Ladies' Auxiliary. She married V.E. "Pinkie"
Holt in 1948.
Survivors include her husband of Hamlin; two sons, Terry Holt
of Decatur and James Holt of Denver City; her mother, Ranier Coplen
of Hamlin; three brothers, Joe Coplen of San Angelo, Jerry Coplen
of Midland and Ed Coplen of Hereford; two sisters, Pat Herron
of Odessa and Helen Reed of Menden, La.; and seven grandchildren.
Dr. Jack Nesbit
SNYDER -- Dr. Jack A. Nesbit, 70, a longtime Snyder resident,
died Sunday at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral
Home Chapel with Dr. Craig Curry officiating, assisted by the
Rev. Danny Williams. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Dr. Nesbit was born in San Angelo and had lived in Snyder since
1954. He owned and operated an optometry business and was a longtime
member of Snyder Lions Club. He was active in Snyder Jaycees and
was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rolling Plains
Optometric Society, Texas Optometric Association, American Optometric
Association, Salvation Army, city zoning Board of Adjustment,
Chamber of Commerce and Chamber of Commerce Gold Coats. He was
an Army Medical Corps veteran. He married Nina Hickman in 1948
in Slaton.
Survivors include his wife of Snyder; one daughter, Carrie
Lynn Lammert of Snyder; and two grandchildren.
Mary Helen Mayes
COLORADO CITY -- Mary Helen Mayes, 36, died Thursday at an
Odessa hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church
with the Rev. H.H. Lee officiating, assisted by the Revs. Robert
Bracy and A.Y. Hubbard. Burial will be in Mitchell County Cemetery,
directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mayes was born in Colorado City and graduated from Colorado
High School in 1981. She lived in Colorado City all her life and
was a homemaker and a member of King Solomon Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Sherri Shamon Mayes of Colorado
City; her mother, Geneva Mayes of Colorado City; her father, James
Otis Mayes of Farmington, N.M.; 11 sisters, Barbara Monroe, Jonell
Mayes, Charlene Mayes, Beverly Lynn Mayes, Mary Ellen Mayes, Linda
Combs, Doris Fay Green and Kathy Green, all of Colorado City,
Doris Mae Rollie of Midland, Juanita Johnson of Odessa and Gidget
Mayes of Farmington, N.M.; nine brothers, John Jackson, Charles
Boone, Willie T. Mayes and Larry Mayes, all of Colorado City,
