Leon Diaz
Leon V. Diaz, 80, of Abilene died Sunday at a local hospital.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home chapel, 542 Hickory. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at
St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Uecker officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Diaz grew up and attended school in Abilene. He retired
after 32 years with the city of Abilene street maintenance department.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and Crusillistas
and was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Anita Torres
in 1936 in Abilene; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include three sons, Reyes Diaz, Augustine Diaz and
Edward Diaz, all of Abilene; seven daughters, Theodora Ruvalcaba
of Fort Worth, Ramona Morel of San Jose, Calif., Anita Diaz of
Odessa and Isabel Martinez, Rosa Diaz, Cecilia Hambrick and Lupe
Diaz, all of Abilene; two brothers, Silverio Diaz and Vivioino
Diaz, both of Freemont, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews.

Floyd Allen Jr.
BANGS - Floyd Allen Jr., 73, died Monday at his home after
a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with
the Rev. Jimmy Allen officiating. Burial will be in Bangs Cemetery,
directed by Bangs Funeral Home.
Mr. Allen was born in Rising Star and had lived in Bangs for
45 years. He was the retired owner-operator of Floyd Allen's Garage.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a lifetime member of
Bangs American Legion post and Disabled American Veterans. He
was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Jimmie Mask in
1956 in Brownwood.
Survivors include his wife of Bangs; four daughters, Brenda
Bartlett of Abilene, Ronda Mitchell of Brownwood and Connie Geron
and Misti Allen, both of Bangs; two sons, Jesse Allen of Brownwood
and Heath Allen of Austin; three brothers, Buddy Allen, Bobby
Allen and Larry Allen, all of Bangs; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Carrol Dale Garvin
LUEDERS - Carrol Dale Garvin, 57, died Sunday at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church
with the Rev. Oscar Fanning officiating. Burial will be in Clearfork
Cemetery, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford.
Mr. Garvin was born in Jones County. He was a Department of
Public Service officer in Pecos for 10 years, a firefighter for
the city of Abilene for 25 years and a farmer-rancher in Jones
County. He was a Baptist. He married Jean Fillmon in 1961 in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife of Lueders; three sons, Martin Dale
Garvin of Tulsa, Okla., Todd Garvin of Lueders and Harvey Ray
Garvin of Abilene; five brothers, Fred Garvin of Winfield, Kan.,
Tommy Garvin and Harry Garvin, both of Cisco, Rex Garvin of Richardson
and Leon Garvin Jr. of Baltimore, Md.; three sisters, Robbie Cason
of Ventura, Calif., Rose Krudda of Potosi and Becky Garvin of
Tulsa; and six grandchildren.

Lane, Abilene 79602; or the West Texas Rehabilitation Center,
4601 Hartford, Abilene 79605.
The family will be at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. today.
Lottie Mae Rose
LAWN - Lottie Mae Rose, 89, died Sunday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church
with the Revs. R.J. Elkins and Mark Burress officiating. Burial
will be in Dewey Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home
of Tuscola.
Mrs. Rose was born in Lawn and attended school at Content.
She moved to Morton in 1949, Content in 1954 and Lawn in 1966.
She worked for Langford Manufacturing and for Abilene State School,
retiring in 1975. She was a member of Lawn Primitive Baptist Church
and Lawn Senior Citizens. She married Bonnie Rose in 1927 in Goldsboro.
Survivors include two sons, David Joe "Bo" Rose of
Lawn and Danny Rose of Tuscola; four daughters, Jean Shamblin,
Sue Shamblin and Von Dean Elkins, all of Tuscola, and Carolyn
Moore of San Marcos; two brothers, Amos Aldridge and Amon Aldridge,
both of Goldsboro; two sisters, Alma Roberts of San Angelo and
Marjorie Wright of Abilene; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren
and two great-great-grandchildren.
Ruth Magee Derrick Wilkes
ROBERT LEE - Ruth Magee Derrick Wilkes, 95, died Monday at
a local care center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Robert Lee Baptist
Church. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sweetwater
Cemetery, directed by Shaffer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wilkes was born in Hollis, Okla., and was a homemaker
and a teacher. She was a member of Eastern Star and first United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include six sons, Carroll Wilkes, Jerry Wilkes and
Doug Wilkes, all of Silver, Monte Wilkes of Loraine, Tom Wilkes
of Rankin and Pat Wilkes of Houston; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren
and one great-great-grandchild.
Henry 'Bud' Abernathy
BROWNWOOD - Henry M. "Bud" Abernathy, 58, died Monday
at a local hospital after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Heartland Funeral
Home Chapel with the Revs. Bill Anderson and Ray Anderson officiating.
Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mr. Abernathy was born in Grosvenor and lived in Brown County
all his life. He worked in several jobs, most recently as an oil
field pumper. He was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle Church.
He married Linda Smith in Brownwood in 1964.
Survivors include his wife of Brownwood; two sons, Travis Abernathy
of Waco and Morris Lee Abernathy of Brownwood; two daughters,
Betty Bray of Hillsboro and Deanna Heil of Waco; two brothers,
Hollie Ray Abernathy of Brownwood and David Joe Abernathy of Houston;
and 12 grandchildren.
Mary Jo Coffey Allcorn
BROWNWOOD - Mary Jo Coffey Allcorn, 76, died Saturday at a
Round Rock nursing home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Central United Methodist
Church with the Rev. Stan Allcorn officiating. Burial will be
in Eastlawn Memorial Park, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Allcorn was born in Zephyr and lived in Brown County all
her life. She was a retired teacher and taught junior high in
Brownwood for 28 years. She was a member of Central United Methodist
Church and Women's Missionary Union. She was a life member of
TSTA, NEA and CTA and a member of Brown County Retired Teachers
Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. She married George Allcorn
in 1941 in Brownwood; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Connie Trietsch of Round Rock;
one son, Billy Jack Allcorn of San Antonio; three sisters, Allaray
Lyons and Adelene Neisler, both of San Antonio, and Bonnye Bess
Priddy of Austin; one brother, Toss Coffey of Zephyr; three grandchildren
and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, Zephyr
United Methodist Church or Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

STEPHENVILLE - Helen Lucille Lockhart, 80, died Monday at a
local hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stephenville
Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be at the funeral home from
6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Charley Ladd
BRECKENRIDGE - Charley Ladd, 75, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Melton Funeral Home.
B.R. 'Billy Ray' Adams
SWEETWATER - B.R. "Billy Ray" Adams, 64, of Midland
and formerly of Sweetwater, died Monday at a Midland hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel
of Memories.
Dr. Charles Cleveland
CISCO - Dr. Charles M. Cleveland died Monday at an Eastland
hospital. Services are pending with Kimbrough Funeral Home.
Marieta 'Rita' Kennamer
