Hazel Hopkins Tarrant
Hazel Hopkins Tarrant, 78, lifelong Abilene resident, died
Monday at her home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Woodlawn Church of Christ
with Dyron Daughrity and the Revs. Don Greenway and Grant Adams
officiating. Burial will be in Eula Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil
Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Tarrant was born in Tye and married Galton Mallin Tarrant
in 1939 in Abilene. She was a homemaker and was a volunteer for
Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Woodlawn Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; two sons, Larry
Don Tarrant of Carrollton and Galton "Wayne" Tarrant
of Abilene; two daughters, Sandra Adams of Casper, Wyo., and Verna
Burns of Abilene; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
four step grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren.
James Riegel
ALLENTOWN, Pa. - James F. Riegel, 85, father of an Abilene
resident, died Sept. 13 in Allentown.
Services were Sept. 16 in Episcopal Church of the Mediator.
Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery in Berwick, Pa., directed by J.S.
Burkholder Funeral Home.
Mr. Riegel graduated from Pennsylvania State University in
1934. He worked as a chemist in Pennsylvania for 44 years until
retiring in 1978.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy E. Weed Riegel; four daughters,
Betsy Riegel Curley of Houston, Jane Riegel Haberkorn of Hinsdale,
Ill., Alice Riegel Smith of Abilene and Martha Riegel Smith of
Harrisburg, Pa.; and 11 grandchildren.

Clifton Hedges
HOUSTON - Clifton W. Hedges, 74, formerly of the Big Country,
died Monday in Houston.
Services were Tuesday in Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. M. Eugene Vickrey officiating. Burial was
in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
Mr. Hedges was born in Snyder and formerly lived in Abilene.
He served with the U.S. Army's 536th Amphibian Tractor Battalion
in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He married his wife
in 1947 and retired from Sears, Roebuck & Co. in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Faye B. Hedges; one son, Michael
W. Hedges; one daughter, Susan H. Wilson; two sisters, Martha
Jo Hays of Belton and Helen Bradbury of Abilene; two grandchildren;
and many nieces and nephews.

Carrol Dale Garvin
LUEDERS - Carrol Dale Garvin, 57, died Sunday at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Lueders First Baptist
Church with the Rev. Oscar Fanning officiating. Burial will be
in Lueders Clearfork Cemetery, directed by Tankersley Funeral
Home of Stamford.
Mr. Garvin was born in Jones County and married Jean Fillmon
in 1961 in Abilene. He worked as a Department of Public Safety
trooper in Pecos for 10 years and firefighter for the city of
Abilene for 25 years. He was a farmer and rancher in Jones County
and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Lueders; three sons, Martin
Dale Garvin of Tulsa, Okla., Todd Garvin of Lueders and Harvey
Ray Garvin of Abilene; his mother, Lessie Garvin of Potosi; five
brothers, Fred Garvin of Winfield, Kan., Tommy Garvin and Harry
Garvin, both of Cisco, Rex Garvin of Richardson and Leon Garvin
Jr. of Baltimore; three sisters, Robbie Cason of Ventura, Calif.,
Rose Kruppa of Potosi and Becky Garvin of Oklahoma City; and six
grandchildren.

Wanda Junnean 'Ann' Dodson
BROWNWOOD - Wanda Junnean "Ann" Dodson, 70, lifelong
local resident, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Mass will be said at 4 p.m. today in St. Mary's Catholic Church
with Msgr. Bendick Zientek officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf
Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dodson was born in Brownwood and was a homemaker. She
was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was the widow of
Charles Tulcus and Russell Dodson Sr.
Survivors include seven sons, Michael Reese Tulcus, Joseph
Marion Tulcus and Stephen Paul Tulcus, all of Abilene, Peter Anthony
Tulcus of Marble Falls, and Leo Tulcus, Tim Tulcus and Russell
Dodson Jr., all of Brownwood; three daughters, Mary C. Allgood,
Kathy Gober and Malissa Parson, all of Brownwood; 23 grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.
Rhonda Rachel Jakobot
BRECKENRIDGE - Rhonda Rachel Jakobot, 35, died Monday in an
Abilene hospital.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Christian
Church with Charles Kuhn officiating, directed by Melton Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Jakobot was born in Mount Clemens, Mich., and moved to
Breckenridge in 1989. She worked at Diamonds in the Rough Restaurant
and Club and was a Catholic.
Survivors include her husband, David Jakobot of Breckenridge;
one son, Stephen Jakobot of Breckenridge; her parents, Janet and
Stewart Salters of New Haven, Mich.; and three sisters, Darlene
Socia, Rene Fuller and Kim Kuster, all of New Baltimore, Mich.
Thomas Evertt Long
BROWNWOOD - Thomas Evertt Long, 85, died Monday in a local
hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Davis-Morris Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. L.R. Blackstock officiating. Burial
will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mr. Long was born in Dallas and moved to Brownwood in the 1930s.
He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and
worked as a house painter. He was a member of Christ Chapel and
was the widower of Dollie O. Long, whom he married in 1937 in
Blanket.
Survivors include three sons, W.R. Long of Brownwood, Wayne
Long of Amarillo and Larry Long of Arlington; two daughters, LaRue
Conner of Grand Prairie and June Harrison of Keller; three sisters,
Elsie Sanders of Arlington, Hazel Jacobs of Muleshoe and Aline
Nicks of Whitney; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Elizabeth Miller
HAMBY - Elizabeth Miller, 84, formerly of Fisher County, died
Monday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Weathersbee Funeral
Home Chapel in Rotan with the Rev. Robert Gravins officiating.
Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan.
Mrs. Miller was born in Mount Pleasant and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Hamby Baptist Church and was the widow of
Thomas Charlie Miller, whom she married in 1934 in Roby.
Survivors include four sons, James Miller of Kilgore, Macon
Miller of Lubbock, Billie Wayne Miller of Hamby and Darrell Miller
of Groesbeck; one daughter, Martha Straus of Merkel; one brother,
Elvis Elrod of Rotan; three sisters, Julia Ruark, Audrie Hudnall
and Pauline Holoeman, all of Rotan; eight grandchildren; several
great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret Bustamante
Margaret Bustamante, 71, died Tuesday. Services are pending
with Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Jordan Micayla Barnett
COLEMAN - Jordan Micayla Barnett, infant, died Monday in a
local hospital. Services are pending with Stevens Funeral Home.
Charles William Clinkinbeard
SNYDER - Charles William Clinkinbeard, 63, died Monday in a
local hospital. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Wright Colonial
Funeral Home Chapel.
G.A. Parks Jr.
SNYDER - G.A. Parks Jr., 71, died Monday at his home after
a sudden illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in 37th
Street Church of Christ, directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral
Home.
