Ruby Mae Shumaker
Ruby Mae Shumaker died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Highway 277 South, with the Rev.
Eddy Hays officiating. Entombment will be in Elmwood Memorial
Park Mausoleum.
Mrs. Shumaker was born in Lowell, N.C., and graduated from
high school in Stanley, N.C. She moved to Abilene from Maryland
and was a production worker for Timex for two years and Texas
Instrument for 10 years before retiring. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Shumaker of Abilene; one
son, Donald Robert Hodges of Dunkirk, Md.; one brother, Coy Wilson
Willard of Owensburg, Ky.; two sisters, Pherdilia Lee Anderson
of Riverview, Fla., and Betty Jean Hughes of Twinsburg, Ohio;
two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Clifford Parker
Clifford D. Parker, 71, died Friday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Glen Cove Cemetery
in Coleman County with the Rev. David Cason officiating, directed
by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Parker was born in Talpa and served in both the U.S. Navy
and Air Force. He married Charlsie Keeney in 1948 in Coleman and
moved to Abilene in 1958 from Snyder. He worked for Timex for
many years and was a shipping and receiving manager for Eastman
Whipstock before retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; one son, Clifford Ronnie
Parker of Abilene; one daughter, Darlena Wright of Abilene; two
grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many other relatives.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Big Country, 3113 Oldham
Lane, Abilene 79602.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Christian Farberg
Christian J. Farberg, 71, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in North's Funeral Home
Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with Don Woods officiating. Burial
with military honors will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Farberg grew up in Wisconsin and moved to Abilene in 1961.
He was in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years until retiring in 1967.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion
and Zion Lutheran Church and was the widower of Maggie Trammell
Farberg, whom he married in 1950 in Oklahoma.
Survivors include two daughters, Robin Mayfield of Lawn and
Penny Nelson of Abilene; one brother, Donald Farberg of Janesville,
Wis.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.
The Rev. Troy Noland
The Rev. Troy Noland, 81, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Pioneer Drive Baptist
Church. Burial with military honors will be in Elmwood Memorial
Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Rev. Noland was born in Washita County, Okla., and graduated
from high school in Alfalfa, Okla., and Oklahoma Baptist University
in 1939. He also graduated from Central Baptist Theological Seminary
in Kansas City, Kan. in 1943. He was a chaplain and lieutenant
commander with the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean
conflict. He retired from the Navy Reserve in 1969. He was a Baptist
minister for more than 50 years. He was a pastor in Oklahoma and,
for 10 years, pastor of Canadian First Baptist Church. He worked
for the Buckner Baptist Benevolent Center in Dallas for eight
years. He recently led a weekly Bible study at both Sears Methodist
Retirement Center and Hendrick Wisteria Place. He was a member
of the Canadian Lions Club for eight years and was the widower
of Doris Knight Noland, whom he married in 1942 in Kansas City,
Kan. He married Vydell Grant in 1992 in Abilene and was a member
of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; four daughters, Nancy
Powell of Dallas, Sara Noland and Janice Naredo, both of Abilene,
and Evelyn Freeman of Levelland; one brother, Donald Noland of
Edmond, Okla.; one sister, Joy Troub of Cornegie, Okla.; eight
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Pearl Cross
Pearl Cross, 75, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Revs.
Buddy Sipe and Bruce Hess officiating. Burial will be in Newman
Cemetery.
Mrs. Cross was born in Lamesa, where she graduated from high
school, and attended Abilene Beauty College. She married Jess
W. Cross in 1946 in Stanton and owned and operated Pearl's Beauty
Shop in Sweetwater for many years. She moved to Oak Creek Lake
in 1984 and Abilene in 1996. She was a member of Sweetwater Women's
Business Club and Sylvester First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; three sons, C. Alan
"Bobby" Fenley of Albuquerque, N.M., Richard Fenley
of Tulsa, Okla., and James W. Cross of Abilene; two brothers,
James E. Ham and Bill Ham, both of Redding, Calif.; eight grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Vesta Liber Kraft
DALLAS -- Vesta Liber Kraft, 89, mother of an Abilene resident,
died Friday in a Tyler hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Lamar & Smith Funeral
Home Chapel. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Mrs. Kraft was born in Canton, Ohio, and was a member of the
Yates Sunday School Class at Tyler Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Dorothy Barnes of Abilene
and Patty Tunnell of Canton, Texas; one brother, Clayton Liber
of Malvern, Ohio; one sister, Marion Rainsberger of Louisville,
Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Josephine Elmore Cagle
PLAINVIEW -- Josephine Elmore Cagle, 84, mother of a former
Abilene resident, died Friday in Plainview.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Childress Cemetery
with the Rev. Johnny Robertson officiating, directed by Johnson
Funeral Home of Childress.
Mrs. Cagle was born in Northfield and was a homemaker. She
later worked as an elderly caregiver. She moved to Tulia in 1955
from Childress, and Plainview in 1990. She was a member of Order
of the Eastern Star and First Methodist Church, both in Tulia,
and was the widow of Hollis Cagle, whom she married in 1928 in
Childress.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Cagle of Plainview and Jay
Cagle of Plainview and formerly of Abilene; and six grandchildren.

Eva Garza
BROWNWOOD -- Eva Garza, 83, died Saturday at her home.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today in Davis-Morris Funeral
Home Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Mexican
Baptist Church with the Rev. Salvador Trevino officiating. Burial
will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mrs. Garza was born in Hondo and was a homemaker. She moved
to Brownwood in 1967. She was a member of First Mexican Baptist
Church and was the widow of Juadalupe Garza, whom she married
in 1935 in Munday.
Survivors include two sons, Juadalupe Garza of Brownwood and
Willie Garza of Fort Worth; four daughters, Mary Kinkead of Brownwood,
Victoria Salas of Irving, Benita Martin of Garland and Eva Ureste
of Fort Worth; one brother, Mercedes Flores of Fort Worth; three
sisters, Maria Enriquez of Wichita Falls, Romana Davile of Fort
Worth and Angela Vasquez of Arlington; 14 grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren.
John Edward McAdoo
WINTERS -- John Edward McAdoo, 70, lifelong local resident,
died Saturday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Winters First Baptist
Church with the Rev. James Hanson officiating. Burial will be
in Lakeview Cemetery, directed by Winters Funeral Home.
Mr. McAdoo was born in Winters and served in the U.S. Army
during the Korean conflict. He married Joanie McCurdy in 1952
in Brownwood and worked as a purchasing agent for John's International.
He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Winters; one son, David McAdoo
of Round Rock; and one grandchild.

Lela Mae Eason
BANGS -- Lela Mae (Mrs. Loyd) Eason, 85, lifelong Brown County
resident, died Friday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Bangs First Baptist Church
with the Rev. Jimmy Allen officiating. Burial will be in Bangs
Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Mrs. Eason was born in Coleman County and was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widow of
Loyd J. Eason, whom she married in 1932 in Tahoka.
Survivors include two sons, Willie Eason of Ingram and Ken
Eason of Bangs; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Carl Stewart
COLEMAN -- Carl F. Stewart, 86, lifelong Coleman County resident,
died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Walker Funeral Home Chapel
with the Rev. Reed Justus officiating. Burial will be in Coleman
City Cemetery.
Mr. Stewart was born in Gouldbusk and graduated from Coleman
High School. He served in the U.S. Army's 142nd Infantry, 36th
Division during World War II and married Sarah Courtney in 1946
in Ballinger. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for about
30 years before retiring. He helped with the Coleman and Coleman
County Little leagues for many years and was a life member of
Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of First United Methodist
Church.
Survivors include his wife of Coleman; one daughter, Barbara
Jean Hartley of San Diego; one son, Freddie Stewart of Coleman;
one sister, Loucille Aston of Coleman.

Barbara Arline Forbes Jones
SNYDER -- Barbara Arline Forbes Jones, 56, died Friday at her
home after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. Travis LaDuke officiating. Burial will
be in McCaulley Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was born in Hamlin and married Bobby Dean Jones
in 1962 in Longworth. She was a homemaker and moved to Snyder
in 1976. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband of Snyder; one son, Kenneth Jones
of Lubbock; her mother, Mary Lou Forbes of Snyder; two sisters,
Billie Jo Talbot of Vernon and Geneva Ward of Amarillo; and three
brothers, Eugene Forbes of Sweetwater, Bill Forbes of Snyder and
Jimmy Forbes of Baird.
Betty Meinzer
KNOX CITY -- Betty Meinzer, 71, formerly of Knox County, died
Saturday in a St. Louis hospital after a long illness. Services
are pending with Smith Funeral Home.
Willie Melvin Landes
DUBLIN -- Willie Melvin Landes, 80, died Saturday in Fort Worth.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Harrell Funeral Home Memorial
Chapel.

BROWNWOOD -- Mary M. Perez died Friday in a local nursing home.

SNYDER -- Ralph H. Yeilding, 64, died Friday in a Big Spring
hospital after a sudden illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday

BIG SPRING -- Thomas R. Wright, 27, of Odessa, died Thursday.
Services will be at 11 a.m Tuesday in Big Lake First Baptist Church,
