Charles Ray Edwards
Charles Ray Edwards, 61, died Sunday at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Elm Valley Community
Church with the Rev. James Martin officiating. Graveside services
will be at 4 p.m. in Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby, directed by
Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel.
Mr. Edwards was born in Leon Junction and graduated from Gatesville
High School and Austin Business College. He worked as an accountant
for a automobile dealership and shipping supply company. He also
was a correctional officer for the Texas Department of Criminal
Justice at the French Robertson Prison Unit in Hamby. He married
Marlene Windham Avants in 1994 in Texas and was a director of
Elm Valley Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Thomas Edwards
of Temple; two stepsons, Steve Williams and Daryl Peel, both of
Abilene; two daughters, Tammie Makie of Champlin, Minn., and Theresa
Mew of Arlington; one stepdaughter, Vicki Avants of Waco; one
brother, Thomas Jake Edwards of Littleton, Colo.; two sisters,
Henry Etta Bone of Gatesville and Mildred James of Fort Worth;
five grandchildren; and five step grandchildren.

Freddie Masias
MUNDAY - Freddie Masias, 43, of Mineral Wells, died Friday
in a Fort Worth hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Munday First Baptist Church
with the Rev. Rigoberto Contreras officiating. Burial will be
in Johnson Memorial Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Smith Funeral
Home.
Mr. Masias was born in Knox City and moved to Wichita Falls
in 1978 and Mineral Wells in 1982. He married Nancy Wolfe in 1980
in Wichita Falls. He was a Little League umpire across Texas for
many years and was a member of Mineral Wells Little League Association.
Survivors include his wife, of Mineral Wells; five daughters,
Cindy Masias and Christy Masias, both of Munday, Leslie Masias
of Irving, Kimberly Baker and Jennifer Masias, both of Mineral
Wells; three sons, Jimmy Guerrero of Abilene, Alfred Masias Jr.
of Munday and Timothy Wayne Masias of Mineral Wells; his mother,
Eva Gonzales Masias of Munday; two sisters, Betsy Arismendez and
Audelia Guzman, both of Goree; three brothers, Frank Masias of
Haskell, Andy Masias of Huntsville and Dennis Masias of Munday;
and 11 grandchildren.
Dorothy West Rowland
ANSON - Dorothy West Rowland, 72, died Tuesday in a Coleman
hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Anson First Baptist
Church with the Rev. Lee Welch officiating. Burial will be in
Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rowland was born in Anson, where she graduated from high
school in 1944, and formerly worked as a secretary at First Baptist
Church and Anson High School. She was a volunteer for Meals on
Wheels. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and First
Baptist Church and was the widow of H.O. "Herb" Rowland,
whom she married in 1948 in Anson.
Survivors include three daughters, Graceanna Holder of Bastrop,
Pauletta Reeves of Austin and Rebecca Reynolds of Coleman; one
son, James Rowland of Abilene; two brothers, Clayton West of San
Antonio and Bruce West of Anson; and 10 grandchildren.
Billy Bounds
STAMFORD - Billy H. Bounds, 66, lifelong Jones County resident,
died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Bethel Lutheran Church
in Ericksdahl with the Revs. Kent Wallace and Mel Swoyer officiating.
Burial will be in Bethel Churchyard Cemetery in Ericksdahl, directed
by Kinney Funeral Home.
Mr. Bounds was born in Lueders and served with the U.S. Army's
Special Forces Division in the Korean conflict. He married Ethel
Lunn in 1962 in Sweetwater and was a member of Paralyzed Veterans
Association and Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl.
Survivors include his wife, of Stamford; one son, Mark Bounds
of Lubbock; and one niece.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.
Una Muryl Neill
MERKEL - Una Muryl Neill, 81, lifelong area resident, died
Monday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Merkel Church of Christ
with Larry Gill officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery,
directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Neill was born in Jones County and graduated from Mount
Pleasant High School in the Merkel area. She was a homemaker.
She taught in the World Bible School at the Church of Christ and
was the widow of T.J. Neill, whom she married in 1937 in Merkel.
Survivors include three sons, Farris Neill of Merkel, Dr. Jimmy
Neill of Birmingham, Ala., and Joe Neill of McCamey; two daughters,
Katie Ferraro of Cypress, Texas, and Ce Vene Slater of Du Quoin,
Ill.; one sister, Joy Morgan of New Braunfels; 11 grandchildren;
and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
George Edwin Allison
SWEETWATER - George Edwin Allison, 83, died Tuesday in a local
hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in McCoy Funeral Home
Chapel of Memories with Dr. Joel McCoy officiating. Burial with
Masonic rites will be in Garden of Memories.
Mr. Allison was born in Muncie, Ind., and graduated from Ranger
High School. He attended Ranger Junior College and Texas A&M
University. He married Catherine Barker in 1937 in Ranger and
served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member
of Masonic Lodge 571 and First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Sweetwater; one sister, Sarah
Ann Allison of Midland; and several cousins.
Alma Wooten Collins
HASKELL - Alma Wooten Collins, 92, died Tuesday in a local
nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Willow Cemetery
with Kenneth Blair officiating, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral
Directors.
Mrs. Collins was born in DeKalb and was a homemaker. She moved
to Haskell in 1939 from Breckenridge. She was a member of First
Baptist Church and was the widow of Orville Wooten, whom she married
in 1926; and W.C. "Red" Collins, whom she married in
1931.
Survivors include two sons, Wallace Wooten and Don Collins,
both of Haskell; two sisters, Eva Teasley of El Paso and Jessie
Rankin of DeKalb; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Jacqueline Harvey Ryan
MIDLAND - Jacqueline Harvey Ryan, 71, mother of a Haskell resident,
died Sept. 24 at her home.
Services were Sept. 27 in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the
Revs. Skip Hedgpeth and Hilton Chancellor officiating. Graveside
services were Sept. 28 in Willow Cemetery in Haskell with the
Rev. Dusty Garison officiating.
Mrs. Ryan was born in Springfield, Ill., where she graduated
from high school, and attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles,
Mo. She married Tom Ryan in 1946 in Havana, Ill., and moved to
Lubbock in 1967, Stamford in 1973 and Midland in 1983.
Survivors include her husband, of Midland; two sons, Tom Ryan
Jr. and Dr. Mark Ryan, both of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one daughter,
Kitsie Drinnon of Haskell; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
one aunt; and five cousins.

Mildred Galloway
SANTA ANNA - Mildred (Mrs. Chester) Galloway, 83, died Monday
in a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Santa Anna First United
Methodist Church with the Revs. Kermit Sorrells and Raymond Jones
officiating. Burial will be in Santa Anna Cemetery, directed by
Henderson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Galloway was born in Waxahachie and first moved to Santa
Anna in 1918. She graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1933
and married Chester Galloway in 1938 in Monahans. She lived in
Monahans and Brownwood before returning to Santa Anna. She and
her husband owned and operated G&E Hardware until retiring.
At First United Methodist Church, she served on the administrative
board, was a caretaker of the Food and Friends program, was a
charter member and past president of the Nitia Daniell Circle
and also was a member of Women's Missionary Union.
Survivors include her husband, of Santa Anna; one sister, Pauline
Eubank of Santa Anna; and one brother, David Eubank of San Antonio;
and many nieces and nephews.
Alene Raymond
Alene Raymond, 84, died Tuesday in a Burleson hospital. Services
are pending with Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277
South.
Pearl Pinkston
Pearl Pinkston, 86, died Tuesday in a local nursing home. Services

CISCO - Allen Posey, 57, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.

died Friday in a local hospital. Services were Monday in San Angelo

after a brief illness. A prayer service will be at 8 p.m. today

DE LEON - Maxine Johnson Poynor, 81, died Tuesday in De Leon.

Amadeo Garza
SNYDER - Amadeo Garza, 81, died Sunday in a local care center
after a lengthy illness. Mass will be said at 2 p.m. today in
Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale
Funeral Home.
