Pearl Pinkston
Pearl Pinkston, 86, died Tuesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Allen-Korzenewski Funeral
Home Chapel, 1443 N. 2nd, with Ewing Nelson officiating. Burial
will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Pinkston was born in Love County, Okla., and married Alvin
Couch in 1934 in Turkey, Texas. She was a homemaker. She was a
member of Cobb Park Senior Citizens and College View Baptist Church
and was the widow of Earl N. Pinkston, whom she married in 1952
in Abilene.
Survivors include one son, Doyle Couch of Abilene; four daughters,
Pansy Mayes and Jeannie Couch, both of Abilene, Kim Flatt of Lubbock
and Carleta Lindman of Orient, Ohio; one stepson, Robert P. Pinkston
of California; one stepdaughter, Glenda Elliott; 24 grandchildren;
26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Diamond Anderson
Diamond H. Anderson, 80, died Wednesday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Albany Cemetery
with Bill Luttrell officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Anderson was born in Dexter and attended school in Albany.
He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in North Africa, Sicily
and France during World War II and worked as a production supervisor
for Stephens Engineering in Wichita Falls. He later was employed
by the Abilene school system in its maintenance department until
retiring. He moved to Abilene in 1970 from Clyde. He married Lee
"Pinkie" Webb in 1974 in Abilene and was a life member
of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2012. He also was a member
of Hamlin Masonic Lodge 958 and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Jerry Robert
Anderson of Clyde and David L. Webb of California; seven daughters,
Dianna Lee Anderson of Arlington, Polly Chittum and Cheryl Lea
Miller, both of Abilene, Judy Kay Fisher of Lubbock, Linda Joe
Stewart of Fort Worth, Betty Ruth Hawthorne of Bedford and Janet
Renee Bisbee of Baird; one brother, Billy George Mathis of Snyder;
one sister, Lee Mae Gray of Abilene; 23 grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Hendrick Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1922,
Abilene 79604; or a favorite charity.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Virginia Wiggins
Virginia C. Wiggins, 86, died Sunday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. H.S. Calahan
officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Wiggins was born in Eula, where she graduated from high
school, and worked as a printing clerk for the City of Abilene
Water Department. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star,
River Oaks Chapter 1013; and Homemakers Sunday School Class at
Immanuel Baptist Church. She was the widow of Stanley J. Wiggins,
whom she married in 1934 in Memphis, Tenn.
Survivors include one son, Stanley Clark Wiggins of San Antonio;
one daughter, Jennie Ruth Hitt of Houston; one brother, Jim Clark
of Baird; one sister, Fleta Johnson of Baird; three grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.

Allen 'Albo' Posey
CISCO - Allen L. "Albo" Posey, 57, died Tuesday in
an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Chambers-Wilcox Funeral
Directors Chapel. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Friday
in Gilliam Cemetery near Clarksville.
Mr. Posey was born in Cisco and married Wanda Johnson in 1959
in Eastland. He moved to Boxelder near Clarksville in 1968 from
Cisco. He worked as a painter in Boxelder. He was a member of
Clarksville Church of God until returning to Cisco in 1987.
Survivors include his wife, of Cisco; three sons, Glen Posey
of Abilene, Steve Posey of Flower Mound and Kevin Posey of Plano;
two daughters, Cindy Posey and Rhonda Andrews, both of Abilene;
three brothers, Edwin D. Posey and Jim Posey, both of Cisco, and
Clint Posey of Clarksville; five grandchildren; and many nieces
and nephews.
Jimmie Lane Roberson
OPLIN - Jimmie Lane Roberson, 67, died Tuesday at his home.
Graveside services were Wednesday in Oplin Cemetery, directed
by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Mr. Roberson was born in Baird and grew up in Oplin. He served
in the U.S. Army and worked as a ranch foreman. He lived in California
and Arizona before returning to Oplin in 1983.
Survivors include two brothers, Charley Roberson of Buffalo
Gap and Robert Roberson of Tuscola; and one niece and one nephew.
Ann Howell
ARLINGTON - Ann Howell, 64, mother of a Sweetwater resident,
died Tuesday in a Houston hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Fielder Road Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Moore Memorial Gardens, directed by Moore Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Howell was born in Saltillo and married Ronald Howell
in 1954. She moved to Arlington in 1973. She taught fourth grade
at Blanton Elementary for 21 years until retiring in 1994. She
was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a teacher's honor society,
and taught Sunday school for 20 years at Fielder Road Baptist
Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Arlington; two sons, Ron
Howell Jr. of Sweetwater and Brian Howell of Plano; one daughter,
Alice Ann Browder of San Marcos; one brother, Davis McAuley of
Bastrop; and six grandchildren.

John Bell
COLORADO CITY - John Bell, 89, died Monday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Westbrook First Baptist
Church with Dr. Ted Spear and the Rev. Jim Mosley officiating.
Burial with Masonic rites will be in Westbrook Cemetery, directed
by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Bell was born in Westbrook and worked in the oil field
for Magnolia Oil Co. from 1926-31. He married Sarah Catherine
Fears in 1932 in Shreveport, La. He was employed by Sun Oil Co.
as a production foreman in Kilgore, Premont and Freer before retiring
in 1961. He was a 68-year member of Coahoma Masonic Lodge 992
and also was a member of Colorado City First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Colorado City; two daughters,
Sue Scaeif of San Benito and Carolyn Averett of Farmington, N.M.;
one sister, Eula Armstrong of Big Spring; five grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.

Lura Webster Black
BROWNWOOD - Lura Webster Black, 69, died Monday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Brownwood First Baptist
Church with Drs. Bill Heston and Ron Cook officiating. Burial
will be in Oakview Cemetery in Mullin, directed by Davis-Morris
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Black was born in Amarillo, where she graduated from high
school, and attended Texas Tech University. She married Billy
E. Black in 1949 in Amarillo. She was a homemaker and moved to
Brownwood in 1965. She was a director of Catch 22 and was a charter
member of the Woman's Club, hospital auxiliary, Country Club Woman's
Association, Garden Club and Daughters of the American Revolution.
She also was a member of Brownwood Art Association, Order of the
Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile in San Angelo and First Baptist
Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Brownwood.
Visitation will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. today in the funeral
home.
Leland Ray Drinnon
HASKELL - Leland Ray Drinnon, 76, died Tuesday in an Austin
hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Willow Cemetery,
directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Drinnon was born in Weinert, where he married Jean Reese
in 1941, and served with the U.S. Army's 96th Infantry Division
during World War II. He lived for 30 years in Midland, where he
worked as an area manager for both Dover, and Baxter & Sons
Elevator services. He was a member of American Legion and was
a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Giddings; three daughters, Gloria
J. Smith of Giddings, Linda Kay Wood of Moran and Cynthia Louise
Scott of Hobbs, N.M.; one brother, Russell Drinnon of Baton Rouge,
La.; four sisters, Ruby Zahn of Hurst, Jessie Trentham of Jefferson
City, Tenn., Elsie Scott of Erenah, N.C., and Reba Yarborough
of Trinity; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Hubert Burk Johnson
BROWNWOOD - Hubert Burk Johnson, 73, of Bowser, died Tuesday
in a Dallas hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Bob Weathers officiating. Burial will be
in Varga Chapel Cemetery in San Saba County.
Mr. Johnson was born in Holt and lived in the Bowser area all
his life. He was a radioman with the U.S. Army Air Corps during
World War II and married Betty Ruth Hunter in 1948 in Bowser.
He was a farmer and rancher. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, of Bowser; two sons, Lynn Johnson
of Bryan and Joe Johnson of Apple Valley, Calif.; two daughters,
Gayle Reeves and Judy Gibson, both of Bowser; one sister, Bonnie
Evans of Elm Grove; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

WICHITA FALLS - Hoyt "Pete" Slatton, 89, formerly
