Joel Flores Sr.
Joel Flores Sr., 49, of Abilene died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Good News Temple, 1164 Minter Lane, with the Rev. Ben Gonzalez officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy. 277 South.
Mr. Flores was born and lived all his life in Abilene. He attended Abilene schools and was a self-employed maintenance man and a member of Good News Temple. He married Eva Ginter in 1988.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; his mother, Elvira Flores of Abilene; two sons, Joel Flores Jr. and Marcus Flores, both of Abilene; two stepsons, Matthew Ciezki and Robert Ciezki, both of Abilene; two daughters, Tracy Denise Flores and Ashley Flores, of Abilene; four brothers, Isaac Flores of Houston, Eliseo Flores of Amarillo and Adriel Flores Sr. and Robert Flores, both of Abilene; four sisters, Alice Lyons of Abilene, Esther Terrell of Arlington, Anita Alcorta of Groves and Eunice Sotelo of Amarillo; and five grandchildren.
Danny Treece
Danny Treece, 50, died Oct. 21 in Paramaribo, Suriname, South America.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Scott Mayer officiating. The body will be cremated.
Mr. Treece was born in Detroit, Mich., and had lived in Abilene since 1990. He attended the Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal. He grew up in Romulus, Mich., and graduated from Romulus High School. He was employed by Maritime Services of Hood River, Ore., and previously worked at ACI in Abilene. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include two sons, Chad R. Treece of Thornton, Colo., and David L. Treece of New Braunfels; one brother, Larry Treece of Ypsilanti, Mich.; one sister, Betty Dow of Athens, Tex.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Abilene State School, 2501 Maple, Abilene 79602.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Gabriel Nathaniel Lara
Gabriel Nathaniel Lara, 8 months, died Friday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy. 277 South, with the Rev. Robert Bush officiating. Burial will be in Elliott-Hamil's Garden of Memories.
Gabriel was born in Snyder and moved to Abilene two months later.
Survivors include his parents, Gonzalo and Diana Lara of Abilene; one stepsister, Randalynn Michele Lara of Lake Charles, La.; grandparents Ron and Diane Mowles of Snyder and Jose and Cecilia Lara of Snyder.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. today.
Faye Andress
HAMLIN - Faye Andress, 84, died Saturday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlin Church of the Nazarene with the Revs. Randy Larpenteur and Jeff Sedberry officiating. Burial will be in McCaulley Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Andress was born in McCaulley and lived in the McCaulley-Hamlin area all her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Hamlin Church of the Nazarene and the Hamlin Senior Citizens and Quilting Club. She married L.R. Andress in 1934 in McCaulley; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Autry Don Andress of Plano and Ray Alan Andress of Abilene; one daughter, Frankie Jo Baker of Monroe, La.; one brother, Clinton Maberry of Duncanville; two sisters, Laverne Teague of San Angelo and Sue Smith of McCaulley; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
B.F. Cornett
KNOX CITY - B.F. Cornett, 81, of Big Bow, Kan., died Thursday in Ulysses, Kan.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Knox City Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Cornett was born in Knox County and moved to Big Bow from Knox City in 1971. He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church. He married Viola Zeissel in 1939 in Goree.
Survivors include his wife, of Big Bow; two sons, Kenn Cornett of Ross and Jerry Cornett of Throckmorton; one daughter, Charolette Pool of Monroe, La.; one brother, Clifford Cornett of Knox City; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Gerald Lloyd Sims
BROWNWOOD - Gerald Lloyd Sims, 75, died Saturday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Swindler officiating. The body will be cremated.
Mr. Sims was born in Shawnee, Okla., and graduated from high school in Monahans. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and moved to Brownwood in 1952, where he owned Sims Office Machines. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3278 and B.P.O. Elks Lodge 2300, American Legion Post 308 in Bangs and Calvary Baptist Church. He married Viola Hobbs in 1949 in Las Cruces, N.M.
Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; one son, Gerald Sims of Brownwood; three daughters, Karlene Makuta of Brownwood, Darlene Gray of Early and Dana Ruth Wright of Placedo; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mary Garner
RULE - Mary Garner, 89, died Saturday at a Haskell nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Willow Cemetery in Haskell with the Rev. Dorian Blasingame officiating, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Garner was born in Young County and had lived in Rule for 22 years. She was a homemaker and attended First Assembly of God Church in Haskell. She married Bruner William Garner in 1931 in Clovis, N.M.; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Vernice Larsen of Aptos, Calif., and Ella Florene Blasingame of Amarillo; one sister, Myrtle Kinney of Rochester; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mary Murphy
CROSS PLAINS - Mary E. Murphy, 83, died Sunday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Cottonwood Cemetery in Callahan County with Joe Coppinger officiating, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home.
Mrs. Murphy married R.L. Murphy in 1932 in Walters, Okla.
Survivors include her husband, of Cross Plains; one daughter, Kara Gale Watson of Tuscola; one sister, Nolia Smartt of Houston; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Wanda Leon Daniell
BROWNWOOD - Wanda Leon Daniell, 80, of Port Aransas died Sunday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Greenleaf Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Daniell was a retired administrator for the Brownwood Independent School District and had lived in Port Aransas for two years. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. She was the widow of George Daniell.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas Daniell of Port Aransas and Barry Daniell of Brownwood; two sisters, Novelean Travis of Dallas and Emma Bea Cooper of Fort Worth; one brother, Marvin Rogers of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews.
Sam McClure
BROWNWOOD - Sam McClure, 63, died Saturday in Victoria.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Chapel Church in Early with the Revs. Rickey Jolley and Joel Mooneyham officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. McClure was born in Brady and had lived in Brown County most of his life. He was a minister for more than 30 years.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis McClure and Michael McClure, both of Conroe, and Clay McClure of Coleman; one sister, Carolyn Devoss of Amarillo; and four grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. today.
