Ora Green
Ora Green, 97, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral
Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Dr. Billy Spencer officiating.
Burial will be in Midway Cemetery.
Ms. Green was born in Cleborne County, Ala., and attended school
in Hodges and Hawley. She also attended Brady School of Nursing
and moved to Abilene in 1940 from Hodges. She worked as a licensed
vocational nurse at Hendrick Hospital from 1945-76. She was a
volunteer for the Abilene Chamber of Commerce. She taught Sunday
school for many years at University Baptist Church and was a member
of Women's Missionary Union.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. J. Douglas Green of Louisville,
Ky., D. Edward Green of Denton and Morgan D. Green of Hodges;
two daughters, Dialtha White of Houston and Doris Freeman of Tulia;
14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.

Claudette Youngblood
BUFORD, Ga. - Claudette Youngblood, 56, formerly of Abilene,
died Thursday in an Atlanta hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Little-Davenport Funeral
Home Chapel in Gainesville, Ga. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery
in Lula, Ga.
Ms. Youngblood was born in Texas and lived in Abilene for many
years. She was a homemaker and was a Baptist.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Wise of Alto, Ga.,
Laurie Walker of Wichita Falls, Etta Kinney of Buford and Vickie
Trusty of Gainesville, Ga.; one son, Raymond Wood of Alto, Ga.;
her mother, Bertha R. Youngblood of Texas; one sister, Jeanette
Brunt of El Paso; 14 grandchildren; and one aunt.
Dorothy 'Dot' Sievers
ALBANY - Dorothy "Dot" Sievers, 82, owner and operator
of the Hereford Motel for more than 30 years, died Wednesday in
an Abilene hospital after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Albany Cemetery
with the Revs. Jeffrey "Beau" Pruitt and Doug Stenberg
officiating, directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sievers was born in Niles, Ill., and worked as a riveter
on C-54 cargo planes during World War II. She moved to Albany
more than 50 years ago.
Survivors include one son, Herbert P. "Buddy" Sievers
of Arlington; one sister, Ruth Pruitt of Glen Rose; three brothers,
Herbert Kane of Sunrise Beach, Mo., George Kane of Mundelein,
Ill., and Ken Kane of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
Myrlie Ida Springer
DUBLIN - Myrlie Ida Springer, 93, died Wednesday in a local
nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Harrell Funeral Home
Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Roberts officiating. Burial
will be in Pecan Cemetery.
Mrs. Springer was born in Cherokee County and was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widow of
James Elvy Springer, whom she married in 1926 in Post.
Survivors include four sons, Joe Bob Springer of Riverside,
Calif., Jackie Dale Springer and John Paul Springer, both of Odessa,
and Roy Dell Springer of Andrews; two daughters, Joy Nell Springer
of Dublin and Carol Ann Wimberley of Nacogdoches; 24 grandchildren;
and 26 great-grandchildren.
Ivy Allen
RISING STAR - Ivy Allen, 92, died Wednesday in a Brownwood
hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Higginbotham Funeral Home
Chapel with Dick Williams officiating. Burial will be in Blake
Cemetery.
Mrs. Allen was born in May and was a homemaker. She lived in
Blake and Williams before moving to Rising Star in 1985. She was
a member of First Baptist Church and was the widow of Earl A.
Allen, whom she married in 1923 in May.
Survivors include one sister, Amy Turner of Breckenridge; and
several nieces and nephews.
Elsia Faye Christian
Elsia Faye Christian, 70, died Wednesday at her home. Services
are pending with Curtis-Starks Funeral Home, 542 E.N. 7th.
Melrose Jobe
GORMAN - Melrose Jobe, 76, died Thursday. Services are pending
with Higginbotham Funeral Home.
Margaret King
ALBANY - Margaret (Mrs. John D.) King, 79, died Thursday in
an Abilene hospital. Services are pending with Godfrey-Neese Funeral
Home.
Leon Whisenhunt
BIG SPRING - Leon Whisenhunt, 69, died Thursday in a local
hospital. Private services will be held. Arrangements were made
by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Amos Shelton
MULLIN - Amos K. Shelton, 91, died Wednesday in a Goldthwaite
care center. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Stacy-Wilkins
Funeral Home Chapel in Goldthwaite.
Mildred 'Mickey' Fiveash
BIG SPRING - Mildred "Mickey" Fiveash, 73, died Tuesday
in a Pasadena hospital. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Nalley-Pickle
& Welch Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel.
Truman Evans
SWEETWATER - Truman C. Evans, 74, formerly of Cisco, died Wednesday
in an Abilene hospital. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday
in Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Minnie Viola Hansbrough
BALLINGER - Minnie Viola Hansbrough, 94, died Thursday in a
local nursing home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday
in Evergreen Cemetery, directed by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Betty Lou King
BRECKENRIDGE - Betty Lou King, 71, died Wednesday in an Eastland
hospital. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Pioneer
Cemetery, directed by Melton Funeral Home.
