Marvin Wayne Dupre
Marvin Wayne Dupre, 43, of Abilene died Saturday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in City Cemetery,
directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Dupre was born in Seattle, Wash., and moved to Abilene
12 years ago. He was a self-employed handyman and a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Douglas Lee Dupre of Seattle; one
daughter, Tabatha Nicole Cupp of Abilene; his mother, Frances
Baugh of Abilene; one brother, Alvis William Mason of Abilene;
an uncle and two nephews.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Big Country, 3113 Oldham
Lane, Abilene 79602.
Leland Barnes
INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - Leland G. Barnes, 82, a former employee
of the Abilene Reporter-News, died Saturday at a local hospital.
The body was cremated. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m.
today at Grace Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev.
Willie Jones officiating, directed by Potts Chapel.
Mr. Barnes was born in Independence, where he graduated from
high school and attended Independence Junior College. He worked
for the Independence Daily Reporter and Coffeyville Journal before
joining the Maritime Service during World War II. He moved to
Prescott, Ariz., in 1946. He worked for the Corpus Christi Caller-Times
for 18 years, then for the Abilene Reporter-News as advertising
manager until 1973, when he joined the Midland Reporter Telegram.
He retired in 1985 and returned to Independence in 1994.
He was a member of Grace Memorial United Methodist Church,
former president of Southern Classified Advertising Managers Association
and a member of Tri-State Classified Managers Association and
Corpus Christi Advertising Club. He married Norma Schader in 1938.
Survivors include his wife, of Independence; one sister, Mary
Sumner of Topeka, Kan.; five nephews and two nieces.
Memorials may be made to Grace Memorial United Methodist Church.
Jean Davis
BROWNWOOD - Jean Davis, 61, died Sunday at a local hospital.
The body will be cremated. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m.
Wednesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lowell
Skaggs officiating.
Mrs. Davis was born in Dover, N.H., lived in Brownwood from
1973-1981 and returned there in 1996. She was a member of the
Greek Orthodox church and was a homemaker. She married Wendell
Davis in 1960 in Dover.
Survivors include her husband, of Brownwood; one son, Tommy
Davis of Brownwood; one daughter, Wendy Carlson of Berwick, Maine;
one brother, Bill Baras of San Diego, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Joe Morrison Propps
SEYMOUR - Joe Morrison Propps, 54, died Sunday at a Lubbock
hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Guthrie Community Center
with David Stringfield and John Gaither officiating. Burial will
be in Guthrie Cemetery, directed by Archer Funeral Home.
Mr. Propps was born in Seymour and graduated from high school
in 1942 in Electra. He moved to Guthrie and was a wagon cook for
the 6666 Ranch for many years. He was a member of First Christian
Church.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Handley of Paducah and Mike
Gibson of Guthrie; one brother, Herb Propps of Seymour; and one
nephew.
Leo 'Jack' Monse Jr.
SAGERTON - Leo "Jack" Monse Jr., 68, died Sunday
at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church
with the Rev. Jeff Zell officiating. Burial will be in Highland
Memorial Cemetery in Stamford, directed by Tankersley Funeral
Home of Stamford.
The family will be at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. today.
Ometa Meadows
THROCKMORTON - Ometa Meadows, 81, died Monday at an Olney hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Merriman-Archer Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Johnson officiating. Burial will
be in Throckmorton Cemetery.
Mrs. Meadows was born in Comanche County and moved to Olney
from Throckmorton in 1985. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She married Leroy Meadows in 1939 in Murray; he preceded her in
death.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Rogers and Linda Smith,
both of Olney; two brothers, Burris Dunlap and William Dunlap
Jr., both of Throckmorton; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m. today.
Jesse Duke
BLACKWELL - Jesse Duke, 74, died Sunday in Bronte after a long
illness.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date, directed
by Myers & Smith Funeral Home of Big Spring.
Mr. Duke was born in Livingston and moved to Blackwell from
Hobbs, N.M., five years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War
II. He retired from Billy Walker Trucking Company in Hobbs in
1992 after 35 years. He was a Baptist. He married Joy Windsor
in 1983 in Tatum, N.M.
Survivors include his wife, of Blackwell; three daughters,
Barbara Tankersley and Becky Baker, both of Blackwell, and Sue
Johnson of Bedford; three sons, Robert West of Blackwell, Ronney
Windsor of Colorado City and Charles Windsor of Houston; one sister,
Bonnie Johnson of Hobbs; one brother, J.W. Duke of Romero; 11
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 8 a.m.-10 p.m.
today.
Anna Olive Schoenwetter
WINTERS - Anna Olive Schoenwetter, 84, died Sunday at a Ballinger
hospital.
The body was cremated. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m.
Wednesday at First Christian Church in Ballinger with the Rev.
Winford Gore officiating, directed by Winters Funeral Home.
Mrs. Schoenwetter was born in Rochester, N.Y., and moved from
there to California in 1965. She moved to Texas in 1975, to Florida
in 1980 and to Winters in 1997. She worked for Eastman Kodak Company
in New York and was a licensed vocational nurse. She was a Catholic.
She married Leonard Van Almkerk in 1936 in Rochester; she married
E.R. Schoenwetter in 1966 in San Jose, Calif.; both preceded her
in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandy Griffin of Winters,
Korry Gough of North Beach, Md., and Lisa Brongo of Rochester;
four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one cousin.
Memorials may be made to Winters Public Library or to Hendrick
Hospice Care of Abilene.
Clark Aydelotte
ALBANY - Clark Aydelotte, 86, died Monday at a local nursing
home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Albany Cemetery
with the Rev. Don Clevenger officiating, directed by Godfrey-Neese
Funeral Home.
Mr. Aydelotte was born in Trenton, Tenn., and had been a taxi
driver. He had owned and operated a taxi service in Fresno, Calif.
He was a member of the Pentecostal church. He married Thelma Brooks
in 1969.
Survivors include his wife, of Albany; one daughter, Janice
Ferrira; and two brothers, John Aydelotte Jr. and Virgil "Cotton"
Aydelotte.
Mary Jacobe
SAN ANGELO - Mary G. Jacobe, 95, died Monday at a local nursing
home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Necessity Cemetery
near Breckenridge, directed by Morehart Funeral Home of Breckenridge.
Ruth Childress
BIG SPRING - Ruth Childress, 83, of Sterling City died Monday
at a San Angelo hospital. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday
at Myers & Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
Hershell 'Dick' Lloyd
SNYDER - Hershell N. "Dick" Lloyd, 88, of Big Spring
died Monday at a Big Spring nursing home after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hillside Memorial Gardens,
directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Roy Temas Cox
ODESSA - Roy Temas Cox, 81, died Monday at a local nursing
home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Pentecostal
Church, directed by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
M.Y. Butler
BIG SPRING - M.Y. Butler, 89, of Odessa and formerly of Big
Spring, died Monday at an Odessa hospital. Services are pending
with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
