Today's Obituaries (Nov. 6, 1998)

Claudine Jones

ARTESIA, N.M. - Claudine Jones, 82, mother of an Abilene resident, died Oct. 25 in a local hospital.

Services were Oct. 28 in Eighth & Grand Church of Christ with David Lasater officiating. Burial was in Woodbine Cemetery, directed by Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Mrs. Jones was born in Pear Valley, Texas, and moved to the Artesia area in 1938 from Eunice, N.M. She was a retired owner and operator of Harvey Jones Agency, an insurance and real estate business. She was a member of Good Sams Travel Club, Good Samaritans Helpers Club, Meals on Wheels and Eighth & Grand Church of Christ, and was the widow of Harvey F. Jones, whom she married in 1934 in Lenorah, Texas.

Survivors include one son, Bill Jones of Dallas; two daughters, Pat Johnson of El Paso and Cindy Mims of Abilene; one sister, Beatrice Brashears of Gillette, Wyo.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Harriet Lee Austermann

MERKEL - Harriet Lee Austermann, 60, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Austermann was born in Houston and married Leroy Austermann in 1955 in Galena Park. She worked as a food service supervisor at Dyess Air Force Base for about 5-1/2 years and also was a manager of the Merkel Dairy Queen. She attended First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, of Merkel; two sons, Frankie Austermann of Merkel and Keith Austermann of Cherokee; two daughters, Sharen Gross of Redmond, Ore., and Dana West of Haskell; one brother, Kenneth Randle of Fairfield; one sister, Janell Hazlett of La Porte; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Merkel Cemetery Association, 201 Edwards, Merkel 79536.

Nieves Ortiz Guerrero

COLEMAN - Nieves Ortiz Guerrero, 49, died Wednesday in a Brownwood care center.

A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Lawrence Cyr officiating. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery.

Mr. Guerrero was born in Somerset and graduated from Mozelle High School. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and married Jeanie Thompson in 1985 in Coleman. He worked as a mechanic and also was a farmer. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Coleman; four sons, Adam Guerrero and Lee Jimenez, both of Bangs, Jeremiah DeLeon of Kansas and Ron Thompson of Coleman; two daughters, Sylvia Tobias of Brownwood and Imelda Mendoza of Bangs; his mother, Catarina Guerrero of Coleman; four brothers, Ynasio Guerrero, Ralph Guerrero and Johnny Guerrero, all of Coleman, and Roger Guerrero of Santa Anna; nine sisters, Mary Vasquez of Santa Anna, Senado Orasco of Doole, Angie Garza of Bangs, Becky Gonzales of Duncanville, Virginia Galvan, Yrma Flores and Elvira Torres, all of Coleman, Rosie Vera of Sweetwater and Janie Hernandez of Goldthwaite; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Eulalio Del Bosque

DUBLIN - Eulalio Del Bosque, 69, died Wednesday at his home.

Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today in Harrell Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Dublin Liveoak Cemetery.

Mr. Bosque was born in De Nero and married Maria Delaluz Perez in 1952 in Haskell. He moved to Dublin in 1968 and retired from the City of Dublin Water Department. He was a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, of Dublin; seven sons, Manuel Del Bosque of Minnesota, Jesse Del Bosque, James Del Bosque, Joe Del Bosque and Jorge Del Bosque, all of Dublin, Javier Del Bosque of Priddy and Joel Del Bosque of Bracketville; two daughters, Janie Martinez and Julia Vargas, both of Dublin; three brothers and one sister; 38 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Nora Mildred Ferguson

BRECKENRIDGE - Nora Mildred Ferguson, 67, died Wednesday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Morehart Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Joe Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Ferguson was born in Desdemona and attended school in Breckenridge and Desdemona. She moved to California in 1964 and returned to Breckenridge in 1982. She formerly operated a pie shop and donut shop. She was the widow of James Ferguson and Clifton Murphree.

Survivors include her husband, Norman Wilson of Breckenridge; four sons, Richard Murphree of Breckenridge, Michael Murphree of Scranton, Pa., Jimmy Ferguson of Portsmouth, N.H., and Randy Ferguson of Fairbanks, Alaska; one daughter, Patricia Greentree of Carmine, Ill.; one brother, Ted Moore of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Emma Lee Blackman and Jane Kelley, both of Breckenridge; nine grandchildren; six step grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Carl Howard

Carl J. Howard, 59, died Wednesday in Mena, Ark. Services are pending with Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Louise Bollinger

SWEETWATER - Louise Bollinger, 81, died Thursday in a Snyder hospital. Services are pending with Kiker-Seale Funeral Home of Colorado City.

W.D. Fikes

BIG SPRING - W.D. Fikes, 64, died Wednesday at his home after a sudden illness. Services are pending with Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

Etholene Hoskins Stoops

FORT WORTH - Etholene Hoskins Stoops, 89, formerly of Abilene, died Thursday. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Greenwood Cemetery, directed by Greenwood Funeral Home.

Charlsey Bramlett

STEPHENVILLE - Charlsey Bramlett, 75, died Wednesday in a Burleson care center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel.

Bertha Asher

MORTON VALLEY - Bertha Harrison Asher, 94, died Thursday in an Eastland nursing home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Eastland Cemetery, directed by Bakker Funeral Home of Eastland.

Zane Holmes

STEPHENVILLE - Zane Holmes, 78, died Wednesday in Stephenville. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, directed by Lacy Funeral Home.

Barbara Prindle

BRECKENRIDGE - Barbara Prindle, 57, of The Colony, died Wednesday at her home. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Melton Funeral Home Chapel of Memories.

Beryl Williams

SNYDER - Beryl H. Williams, 78, died Wednesday in a local hospital after a sudden illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel.

Frances Irona Boyt

DUBLIN - Frances Irona Boyt, 91, died Thursday at her home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Harrell Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.

John 'Bill' Early

SNYDER - John W. "Bill" Early, 70, died Wednesday in a local hospital after an illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel.

Virginia Frances Straley

GOLDTHWAITE - Virginia Frances Straley died Wednesday in a local care center. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Goldthwaite First Baptist Church, directed by Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home.
