Carl Howard
Carl J. Howard, 59, of Mena, Ark., and formerly of Potosi,
died Wednesday in Mena.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Potosi Cemetery
with Don Howard and Kirby Krupa officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil
Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Howard was born in Mulberry, Tenn., and married Florence
Lee Bellis in 1960 in Yuma, Ariz. He was a self-employed mechanic
and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Mena, Ark.; one son, James Wade
Howard of Abilene; two daughters, Susan Kathleen Nall of Tuscola
and Julie Ann Nichols of Abilene; one brother, Donald H. Howard
of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Nadine Scott of Portland, Ore.; and
five grandchildren.
Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Joseph Jowers Jr.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Joseph
J. Jowers Jr. formerly of Abilene, died Thursday.
Mass will be said at 11 a.m. today in St. Bernadette Catholic
Church with the Rev. Florian Renaud officiating. Burial with Masonic
rites will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, directed by French Mortuary.
Mr. Jowers attended Abilene High School and graduated from
the University of Omaha, Air Force Command Staff College and the
nuclear weapons course at Sandia Base in Albuquerque. He married
his wife in 1942. After retiring from the Air Force, he owned
and operated National Office Supply for 19 years. He, along with
his wife, also owned Lydee's Fashions for 29 years. He was a past
president and district director of the Albuquerque Exchange Club
and also was president of the Exchange Club Center for the Prevention
of Child Abuse. He was a past commander adjutant and treasurer
of the Commander Simpson and Lt. Col. Loring Chapter of the Military
Order of World Wars. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member
of Masonic Lodge 60, Ballud Abyad Shrine Legion of Honor and Scottish
Rite.
Survivors include his wife, Carmen Lydia Jowers of Albuquerque;
four daughters, Brenda Brent, Sandra Larrichio, Deborah Meyer
and Lydia Brazfield, all of Albuquerque; four sisters, Lil Lollar
of Tye, and Edna Teaff, Marie Briggs and Laura Mae Pinckley, all
of the Merkel area; one brother, Wayland Jowers of Abilene; eight
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Louise Bollinger
COLORADO CITY -- Louise Bollinger, 81, died Thursday in a Snyder
hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Kiker-Seale Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Jim Mosley officiating. Burial will be in
Colorado City Cemetery.
Mrs. Bollinger was born in Abilene and grew up in Colorado
City. She lived in the Sweetwater-Roscoe area for several years.
She was a homemaker and was a Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, Don Bollinger and Benny Bollinger,
both of Snyder; one daughter, Pat Woodard of Hobbs, N.M.; one
sister, Sara Gohery of Colorado City; six grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
Roy Grantom
GRANBURY -- Roy C. Grantom, 70, formerly of Abilene, died Friday
in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Wiley Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be in Acton Cemetery.
Mr. Grantom was born in Hillsboro and worked for Bailey Bridge
Corp. in Abilene for 46 years. He was a partner of Stephens-Martin
Paving for three years and moved to Granbury in 1978 from Abilene.
He retired as a construction superintendent in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Grantom of Granbury; one daughter,
Julie Turner of Granbury; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to American Heart Association or American
Cancer Society.
Dr. Vance Terrell
STEPHENVILLE -- Dr. Vance Terrell, 90, local physician from
1935 until retiring in 1985, died Friday in Stephenville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Clyde Wells Fine Arts
Auditorium at Tarleton State University with the Revs. Bobby Baggett
and Emil V. Becker, and Dr. Morgan Garrett officiating. Burial
will be in West End Cemetery, directed by Lacy Funeral Home.
Dr. Terrell was born in Hamlin and earned a medical degree
from the University of Texas Medical School in 1932. After working
on his residency in New York, he became a partner and chief of
EENT Service at the Stephenville Hospital and Clinic in 1935.
He was named a Distinguished Alumnus in 1972 by Tarleton State
College. He was a charter president of the Texan Club and also
was president of the Industrial Foundation. He was a longtime
chairman of the scholarship committee at Tarleton State. He was
a member of First United Methodist Church and was the widower
of Violet Anderson Terrell, whom he married in 1935 in New York.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Frank Terrell of Stephenville;
one daughter, Penny Elliott of Stephenville; five grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Inez Elkins Browning Hamm
ROTAN -- Evelyn Inez Elkins Browning Hamm, 90, of Plainview
and formerly of Rotan, died Friday in a Plainview nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Snyder City
Cemetery with the Rev. Mickey Wagoner officiating, directed by
Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hamm was born in Rotan and worked as a licensed vocational
nurse at Callan Hospital for many years. She was a 65-year member
of the Order of Eastern Star and was a worthy matron of both the
Snyder and Rotan chapters. She moved to Tulia in 1989 and Plainview
in 1993. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Johnny Jackson
Browning, whom she married in 1926; and Samuel James Hamm, whom
she married in 1956 in Rotan.
Survivors include three sons, Roy J. Browning of Billings,
Mont., Henry Mark Browning of San Angelo and Curtis Bryce Browning
of Boyd; two daughters, Dorrene Acker of Tulia and Daphene Campbell
of Cedar Park; two sisters, Juanita Hart of Snyder and Jettie
Crenshaw of Graford; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren;
and one great-great-grandchild.
Charles Parker
OLDEN -- Charles W. Parker, 90, of Arlington and formerly of
Olden, died Thursday in Arlington.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Eastland City
Cemetery with the Rev. Gayle Baucum officiating, directed by Edwards
Funeral Home of Eastland.
Mr. Parker was born in May and attended Texas A&M University.
He worked for Piggly Wiggly, Worth Foods and Safeway in Fort Worth,
New Mexico and Odessa before retiring as a meat market manager.
He lived in Olden from 1969-95. He was a Baptist and was the widower
of Alpha Louise Aycock Parker, whom he married in 1931 in Munday.
Survivors include one son, Charles Parker of Odessa; two daughters,
Judith LeBlanc of Arlington and Amanda Sue Cochran of Suffolk,
Va.; one brother, Homer Parker of Florida; 10 grandchildren; 19
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two cousins.
Bascom Lyn Coffee
BROWNWOOD -- Bascom Lyn Coffee, 92, of Temple and formerly
of Brownwood, died Friday in a Temple nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in Eastlawn Memorial
Park with the Rev. Russell Fisher officiating, directed by Davis-Morris
Funeral Home.
Mr. Coffee was born in San Angelo and lived in Brownwood for
many years. He married Ruie Etta Gammon in 1929 in Brownwood and
was a retired conductor of Santa Fe Railroad. He was a member
of Masonic Lodge, Knights of Pythias and St. John Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Temple; two daughters, Betty
Keathley of Duncanville and Imogene Mitcham of Houston; three
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to American Heart Association.

Claude Roberson, 69, died Friday in a local nursing home. Services
