Today's Obituaries (Nov. 14, 1998)

Talmadge Paul Hinson

Talmadge P. Hinson, 16, of Buffalo Gap, a junior at Hope Chapel Christian School in Abilene, died Thursday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hope Chapel of The Foursquare Church with the Revs. Bobbie Moore and Kelly Blanton officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Gap Cemetery, directed by North's Funeral Home, 4002 Buffalo Gap Road.

Talmadge was born in Wylie, north of Dallas, and moved to Abilene in 1990. He played football and in the band in school. He also participated in boxing activities. He performed in the Worship Band at Hope Chapel of The Foursquare Church.

Survivors include his parents, the Rev. J.D. and Jan Hinson of Buffalo Gap; one sister, Hannah Johnson of Fort Jackson, S.C.; one brother, Travis Hinson of Buffalo Gap; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace McNeil of Buffalo Gap, and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hinson of Concord, N.C.

Memorials may be sent to Talmadge Hinson Scholarship Fund, c/o Hope Chapel Christian School, 3502 Rebecca Lane, Abilene 79606.

Dale Earl Lohse

Dale Earl Lohse, 63, died Friday at his home after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in Word of Emmanuel Church with Scott Beard officiating. Burial will be in Caps Cemetery, directed by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.

Mr. Lohse was born in Erdahl, Minn., and married Willy Verbeek in 1957 in Delft, Holland. He moved to Abilene in 1963 from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. He served in Thailand during the Vietnam War and retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant in 1973 after a 20-year career. He was a member of Word of Emmanuel Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Wayne Lohse and Randahl Lohse, both of Abilene; one daughter, Shanna Lynn Lohse of Abilene; several brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Isaiah 58, c/o Word of Emmanuel Church, 3001 N. 3rd, Abilene 79603.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Robert 'Bob' William Wooldridge

Robert William Wooldridge, 72, died Wednesday in a local hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Elmwood Memorial Park with Chaplain Bernie Summers and Benny Smith officiating, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South.

Mr. Wooldridge was born in McQueen, Okla., and grew up in Abilene. He married Ethel Stroope in 1957 and served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a painter and cook. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; four sons, Willie Wooldridge, Albert Wooldridge, James Wooldridge and George Wooldridge, all of Abilene; three daughters, Sandy Inderrieden of Buckeye, Ariz., Cathy Neal of Phoenix, Ariz., and Cindy McFarland of Midland; two sisters, Mae Dalton of Abilene and Fay Scott of Hamlin; 16 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

Gwen Nell Weatherby

BRECKENRIDGE -- Gwen Nell Weatherby, 69, died Thursday at her home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Melton Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Joe Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Weatherby was born in Lueders and married Edward Weatherby in 1947 in McCamey. She worked as a dress shop clerk and was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, of Breckenridge; two daughters, Nancy Ann Bush of Beaumont and Terri Lynne Griffith of Gilmer; two brothers, Wayne Latimer of Tulsa, Okla., and Mike Latimer of Abilene; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Big Country, 3113 Oldham Lane, Abilene 79602.

Michael 'Mike' Givens Sr.

WEATHERFORD -- Michael "Mike" Givens Sr., 48, brother of four Big Country residents, died Thursday at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel with Ernie Hewett officiating.

Mr. Givens was born in Fort Knox, Ky., and lived in Weatherford for many years. He was a retired locksmith and was active in Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel Givens of Weatherford; one daughter, Suzanne Willingham of Weatherford; one son, Michael Dewayne Givens Jr. of Weatherford; his father, George Clark Sr. of Huntsville, Ala.; six sisters, Anita Chapman and Karen Childers, both of Clyde, Linda Dodson of Austin, Catherine Monroe and Sue Morris, both of Abilene, and Trisha Blazauskas of Fairfield, Ohio; one brother, George Clark Jr. of Huntsville, Ala.; and one grandchild.

Jeannette Arther

EASTLAND -- Jeannette Lillian Arther, 78, died Wednesday in Arlington.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Plant officiating. Burial will be in Eastland City Cemetery.

Mrs. Arther was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and graduated from nursing school as a registered nurse. She was a first lieutenant with the U.S. Army's Nurse Corps in the European Theatre during World War II and received the European and American Theatre ribbons and a Victory Medal. She continued working as a nurse in hospitals, the Eastland school district and in private care. She also assisted her husband in the feed and poultry, and farm and ranch businesses from 1946-93. She was a member of Texas State Nurses Association. She was a Lutheran and was the widow of J.B. "Tip" Arther, whom she married in 1946 in Eastland.

Survivors include two sisters, Violet Lindelof of Arlington and Eleanor Shoup of Gahanna, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Shirley June Parkerson Graham

Shirley June Parkerson Graham, 64, died Friday at her home. Services are pending with Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Dorothy Rives

Dorothy Mae Rives, 68, died Friday in a local nursing home. Services are pending with North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.

Dorris Dee Osburn

Dorris Dee Osburn, 82, died Thursday in Fredericksburg. Services are pending with Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Russell Earl Hoover

BIG SPRING -- Russell Earl Hoover, 77, died Thursday in a local hospital. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in First Christian Church. Arrangements were made by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

Edna Steele

COMANCHE -- Edna Steele, 74, of Comanche County, died Thursday at her home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Cox Cemetery in Comanche County, directed by Comanche Funeral Home.

Louise Butler

BIG SPRING -- Louise Butler, 79, died Friday in an Odessa hospital. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Trinity Memorial Park, directed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

Millie Hammon

BRECKENRIDGE -- Millie E. Hammon, 97, died Friday in a local hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Elmwood Cemetery in Mineral Wells, directed by Melton Funeral Home.
