Mrs. J.B. (Pearl) Dalton

Mrs. J.B. (Pearl) Dalton, a longtime Abilene resident, died Saturday at a local nursing home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Sue Rowlett officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mrs. Dalton was born in Mulberry Canyon community and grew up in Cameron and Stanton. She attended Sisters of Mercy Convent School in Stanton and College of Industrial Arts in Denton. She lived in Brownwood, Sweetwater and Big Spring before moving to Abilene in 1933. She was a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She married J.B. Dalton in Stanton; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. B.J. (Mary) Bryant of Midland; one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren and one nephew.

Lindsey Dale Freeman

Lindsey Dale Freeman, 19, died Friday at Abilene State School.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Abilene State School chapel with Chaplain Ray Bingham officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Levelland City Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mr. Freeman was born in Lubbock and had lived at Abilene State School for 17 years.

Survivors include his parents, Lorrie and Jerry Clements of Amarillo; two brothers, Jody Freeman of Lubbock and Will Clements of Amarillo; one sister, Shawn Freeman of Austin; a great-grandmother, Lucille Medley of Lubbock; several aunts and uncles and numerous cousins.

Dorothy Mae Greaves

COLEMAN - Dorothy Mae Greaves, 74, died Saturday at an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Walker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will be in Coleman City Cemetery.

Mrs. Greaves was born in Nolan County and lived in Coleman County most of her life. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married Ed Greaves in 1942 in Coleman.

Survivors include her husband, of Coleman; one daughter, Anita Foster of Abilene; one son, Dale Greaves of Coleman; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to hospices of the Big Country and Abilene.

John Bunch III

FORT WORTH - John L. Bunch III, 42, former owner of Bonanza Steak House in Abilene, died Friday at a North Richland Hills hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.

Mr. Bunch was born in Alamogordo, N.M., and was a freight broker.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Bunch of Fort Worth; two sons, John Bunch IV and Andres Pizana, both of Fort Worth; one daughter, Terran Spencer of Altus, Okla.; his mother, Mrs. John L. (Edith) Bunch Jr. of Fort Worth; one brother, Roger Bunch of Fort Worth; three sisters, Kay Dresser of Hurst, Debbie Mendrop of Weatherford and Edie Atwell of Garland; one grandson and numerous other relatives.

Rev. Walter Emil Liss

COMANCHE - The Rev. Walter Emil Liss, 79, died Saturday at a local hospital after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Scott Maze officiating. Burial will be in Newburg Cemetery.

Rev. Liss was born in Vesper, Kan., and moved to Comanche in 1964 from Germany. He was a retired Army chaplain and had been pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Comanche for 13 years. He also pastored Belle Plaine Baptist Church in Brownwood, Cooper Baptist Church in Lewisville, La., Zion Hill Baptist Church in Independence, La., and First Baptist Church in Blanket. He married Frances Beaty in 1942 in Brownwood.

Survivors include his wife, of Comanche; two sons, Melvin Liss of Floresville and Charles Liss of Alaska; one daughter, Ruth Loache of Comanche; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Newburg Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. today.

Bill Merchant

BROWNWOOD - Bill W. Merchant, 77, died Saturday in a local hospital.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Tempe, Ariz. Local arrangements were directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Mr. Merchant was born in Duncan, Okla., and had lived in Brownwood for 10 years. He was retired after 24 years in the U.S. Air Force and had been in the Air National Guard for 10 years. He married Geraldine Clark in 1944 in Fort Worth.

Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; three daughters, Sandy Walters of Tempe, Carol Ryerson of Sugar Pine, Calif., and Jody Kramer of Louisville, Ky.; his mother, Ethel Merchant of Brownwood; two brothers, David Merchant of Kemp and Wallace Merchant of Bryan; two sisters, Wanda Williams and Sue Burns, both of Brownwood; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Floyd James 'Jack' Davis

GRAHAM - Floyd James "Jack" Davis, 85, died Saturday at a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.W. Hill officiating. Burial will be in Medlan Chapel Cemetery in Young County.

Mr. Davis was born in Sulphur Springs, Okla., and was a longtime resident of Graham. He was a former employee of Produce House and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a Marine Corps veteran. He married Liddy Ollie Westerman in 1934 in Graham.

Survivors include his wife, of Graham; six sons, James Davis of Carlsbad, N.M., Robert "Bobby" Davis of Graham, Tommy Davis of Clyde, George Davis of Anson, Don Davis of Newcastle and Charles Davis of Cisco; three daughters, Carolyn Bahl of Denton, Myrtle Proffitt of Graham and Mary Phillips of Arlington; 34 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and three foster grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Maggie Celia Wellborn

BROWNWOOD - Maggie Celia Wellborn, 95, died Saturday at a Goldthwaite nursing home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Santa Anna Cemetery.

Mrs. Wellborn was born in Norse and moved to Brownwood from Houston in 1960. She was a homemaker and a member of Brady Avenue Church of Christ. She was the widow of Otis Wellborn.

Survivors include one daughter, Marcie Olsen of Mullin; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Elvin Miears

GORMAN - Elvin Miears, 82, died Sunday at a De Leon hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Craig Rhoton officiating. Burial will be in Gorman Cemetery.

Mr. Miears was born in Comanche County and lived in Hamilton most of his life before moving to Gorman in May. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of the Episcopal church.

Survivors include two brothers, Louis Miears Jr. of Austin and James Miears of Gorman; and two sisters, Modell Watson and Bernice Weehunt, both of Granbury.

Daisy Erwin

RISING STAR - Daisy Erwin, 83, died Sunday at a Brownwood hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Dick Williams officiating, assisted by Darrell Dossey and Terry Simmons. Burial will be in Rising Star Cemetery.

Mrs. Erwin was born in Rising Star, where she lived all her life. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She married Ralph Erwin in 1932; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Elliott of Rising Star; one brother, Alton Larkin of Cisco; two sisters, Cloia Tucker of Rising Star and Zella Erwin of Cross Plains; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Asencion Fernandez

STAMFORD - Asencion Fernandez died Sunday at an Abilene hospital. Services are pending with Kinney Funeral Home.

Frank Mason

Frank Mason, 68, of Abilene died Saturday in Dallas. Services are pending with Curtis-Starks Funeral Home, 542 E.N. 7th.

Mo Wetzel

COMANCHE - Mo Wetzel, 88, died Saturday at a local hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, directed by Comanche Funeral Home.

Nora Smith Featherston

GOLDTHWAITE - Nora Smith Featherston of Andrews, formerly of Goldthwaite, died Sunday at an Andrews nursing home. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Assembly of God Church, directed by Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home.

Faye Williams

BRECKENRIDGE - Faye Williams, 71, died Saturday at a local funeral home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Williamson Chapel C.M.E. Church, directed by Melton Funeral Home.

G.W. 'Bill' Comegys

G.W. "Bill" Comegys, 85, formerly of Abilene, died Sunday in Orange. Services are pending with Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mrs. R.T. 'Etoyle' Wylie

STEPHENVILLE - Mrs. R.T. "Etoyle" Wylie, 98, of Simms Valley died Friday at a local nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Lacy Funeral Home Chapel.

Braulio 'Bobby' Gutierrez Sr.

SNYDER - Braulio "Bobby" Gutierrez Sr., 59, died Saturday at a local hospital after a sudden illness. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Robert Maxey

EASTLAND - Robert Maxey, 51, of Lake Leon and formerly of Mesquite, died Saturday at a local hospital after a sudden illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.

Frances Cotton

Frances Cotton, 57, of Merkel died Sunday at a local hospital. Services are pending with Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
