It’s colder in Fargo

We don’t have to wonder anymore where winter’s been. It’s been saving up for this. Lows in the teens, piercing winds, freezing precipitation in the forecast — you’d think we were in Fargo, N.D.

Well, actually, it’s about 13 below in Fargo, but West Texans can be forgiven the comparison. We’re just not used to this, which is what drivers need to remember if streets get bad.

Give yourself a little more time for travel. Back off 10 or 15 miles an hour from your usual speed. Leave a bit more room from the car in front of you. Turn on your lights. Be conscious of other drivers. And fasten those seat belts.

Abilene could be lucky enough to have a rare White Christmas. Let’s make it a safe one.
