An occasion of fashion
Artwalk takes a fashionable turn this August evening, as artists and participants deck themselves out in a variety of costumes and ensembles to demonstrate the role fashion has played in art through the ages and the role art has played in fashion.
That doesn't mean to have to get dressed up to stroll downtown and look, although, for those who might be interested, the Center for Contemporary Arts will provide an artful fashion boutique that visitors can select from and have their photographs taken. Reportedly, many of the items on hand are avant garde and considerably "off the wall," so to speak.
Free admission to an abundance of exhibits and displays will be available all through Abilene's historic downtown cultural district, offering unexpected delights. McLemore-Bass, for instance, is holding a butterfly photography contest you can learn all about. With temperatures moderated by the recent blessed rain, the 5:30-8:30 p.m. event promises a refreshing outing.
