Goodwill ambassadors
Abilene is well represented in Great Britain today.
In Dublin, Ireland, the 142-member Abilene High School Eagle Band is marching in the St. Patrick's Day parade. The project has taken some two years of planning and countless hours of fund-raising and rehearsing.
In addition to the parade, the band will also perform in concert at Dublin's St. Patrick's Cathedral. The group is led by band director Paul Walker and assistant director Patrick Kitchell.
Meanwhile, the 71-member choir of Cooper High is in the midst of a 10-day trip to London, Cambridge and Oxford, performing concerts and attending a clinic with famed choral composer John Rutter. Barbara Perkins is CHS choir director.
We're sure these two fine musical organizations will do us and themselves proud, helping spread goodwill and Abilene's name across the Atlantic.
